let me start my review by saying thank u 2 those that posted links or shared information about sharon jones and the dap tones. THEY ROCKED!! i totally enjoyed their set and when sharon took off her heels and worked it out!! YOU GO GIRL!! u just made a new fan out of me of your music.
after their set and the roadies taking down their equipment, different parts of the stax concert was shown and when i saw the staple singers, i thought maybe prince might do when will be paid later in the show. as the incense around the stage was released, i figured it was just a matter of moments b4 prince hoped up on stage but damn 10 mins turned into 30. i got worrred it that prince wouldn't get onstage until 9pm and then the complaints about the msg curfew would be uttered. well dude get on stage earlier then!! lol
the lights went down and then it began..from the moment he uttered "don't u have enough pics!" and the open of WDC was played i stood right up!!! this is what his true fans have wanted even tho it was snippets it's just the acknowledgement that he has more music than the ones u always hear whether live or on radio. i would love 2 hear these songs fully of course instead of disco heat, lgc, and purple rain. maybe if he keeps reading he will lol
the show was simply amazing and the best of the whole run from europe to nyc for me. last night was the prince i haven't seen since 2002 imo!! glad 2 see u again friend don't be a stranger!!
highlights 4 me where anotherloverholenyohead, Shoe, eye love u but eye don't trust u anymore, dreamer, and 4 those that bitch about shelby singing ..SHE FUCKING SUNG HER ASS OFF as did ELISA AND LIVE DURING ANGEL!! it felt like church up in there!! when prince started going into insatiable and scandalous that man did it!!
still hoping that he will pull out the love we make soon!!
I loved his opening Medley. I was surprised he would even do anything with these songs so to have even a taste was satisfying enough for me. He did quite a bit of 'Black Sweat' too. Nice to see him acknowledge his other hits even if only for a few seconds. It also seemed like he shortened Purple Rain and Raspberry Beret to me to make way for waaaayyy better songs. No 1999 on this show either. That's another reason it was the best soo far...not as predictable as the previous shows because I was totally expecting that 12 minute version of PR and 1999 at any minute...thank Jebus one was shortened and the other was absent.
He worked the whole stage this time which surprised me because I don't remember him doing the head of the Symbol very much on the last two shows but it was nice that those sitting behind the drums got to see him more this time around. I wish I could go to the 7th with you guys but it's not gonna happen and I'm not extremely disappointed about it considering that I just remembered that he'll be doing that Charity event in Dallas the day before and then having to fly back to NYC for the show. If he's doing a show on the 8th also, I don't know if I want to go to that one either. I think that's one of the main reasons why the 12/18 show was so disappointing. Back to Back shows like that seem to wear him out a little but that's just from my perspective. Have fun 4 me and someone better let me know if he plays anything out of the usual...got my own personal concert stored on my computer so I'm good.
he did do 1999 unfortunately ..same goes for let's go crazy
in fact he was about 2 go into little red corvette but chose 2 do peach instead man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 |

one more observation- not one song being played from Emancipation at all on this tour. I'm very surprised by that. I think Somebody's Somebody would work well as a segue into another song, even if he only did one verse. and Face Down would just kill- i think i would like to hear that in place of where "let's work" is done in the middle medley.
Ooh, Somebody's Somebody would be great. I've been jamming to White Mansion alot lately too. Really want to hear Joint 2 Joint also. Still waiting from some Gold Experience tunes too...TMBGITW (preferably the Mustang Mix) would just melt me...I would soo get kicked out but they would have to detach me from his thigh first because my grip is strong. thanks 4 the video of dreamer it just made me thankful that i also don't have floor seats cause u can't see the symbol stage and how it lights up from being that close. the lighting for dreamer with the red white and blue hitting the stage was hot!! man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 |

yea, i agree. i would think that with the amount of women that go to his shows, he almost has to do TMBGITW. i also have a soft spot for the Gold Experience- that is one of my favorite eras of his- the mid '90's Prince from "Come-Gold Experience-Emancipation" -such a burst of creativity in a short amount of time. Did he play it? I probably tuned it out. Just like how I tune out RB everytime it starts playing. Was it the 12/29 show or this show that we were all outside near the merchandise table and RB came on the speakers and you pointed it out and I told you that, "I thought this was 'Billie Jean'." They sound nothing alike but for some oddball reason my brain would have rathered 'Billie Jean' over RB at a PRINCE concert. My hate for this song is strong and unwavering. Prince Rogers Nelson

"fingers crossed" for Feb. 7- i think it will be hard to top last night, and in a way i dont want to go in Feb. because last night was a great memory, but u just never know with this guy so i had to take a shot. i know the usual songs will be there, but it's the intrigue of the unknown and the possibilities !!! but yea, i think SPACE and even Dreamin' About You would fit in real well.(especially with the piano and Maceo playing on that one). if he does wind up doing it, then we'll both know someone in his crew reads the forum !! |

Prince needs to wear friggin' underwear because his bouncing jiggly bits are a MAJOR distraction.
Like....uhhh... he's squatting but his hips are pointing upwards and you can see his whole friggin' unit from an upshot.... like his penis was pointing straight out and you could see it in detail.... I wish he wouldn't do that. I was so close to the stage and I ended up missing his damn face for half the friggin' concert... what the hell
second
he played dreamer... yay

seriously, prince climbs up on the piano with his ass facing us...and you can see his balls hanging from that back view, and you can see them jiggle when he moves.... then when he turns around you see the whole outline of his head and it's pointing outward because of his stance and jiggles with his movement....how the HELL do you NOT have tunnel vision? please if you know, let me in on the secret!
As for the pics... I never take photos at shows. I'm sorry. It would have made a lovely photo though.
But I'm so pissed at myself. I was so excited to see him so closely and then I missed his face for half the show. He was standing just feet away from me and I was looking at his jiggly bits as he was saying let's hear it for sharon jones and the dap kings or maceo parker (I can't remember which but he was near the piano)... I screamed out, screw that, let's hear it for your insert obscene word here.
I don't know the section I was in since I was moved because my original seat was extremely obstructed.... it was right where the piano was. He was at the piano a lot so it was a great seat... plus the up close penis thing.

Awesome clip - great seque Dreamer into Welcome 2 America but I'm sure the casual dans and all the "Oh, I should really see Prince before I die (or he does)" audience members were scratching their heads a bit...
(It's cool, tho, probably reminded them of the audience reactions to Darling Nikki and computer Blue in the movie...)

still hoping that he will pull out the love we make soon!!
Have fun 4 me and someone better let me know if he plays anything out of the usual...got my own personal concert stored on my computer so I'm good.
i got ya covered!! |

one more observation- not one song being played from Emancipation at all on this tour. I'm very surprised by that. I think Somebody's Somebody would work well as a segue into another song, even if he only did one verse. and Face Down would just kill- i think i would like to hear that in place of where "let's work" is done in the middle medley.
imagine that!!
L4OA would agree JOINT TO JOINT would be insane!
the love we make is listed in the back of the tourbook...patiently holds breath to hear it

Are there any clips on you tube of the beginning of the concert with the sampling of various songs before Kiss?

now u talking pichaos!!!
give us this instead of raspberry, cream, purple rain, and the other "hits" ..let me hear folks complain about not hearing those songs 4 once so i can laugh at them!! "i guess u don't know his music at all do u?"
"fingers crossed" for Feb. 7- i think it will be hard to top last night, and in a way i dont want to go in Feb. because last night was a great memory, but u just never know with this guy so i had to take a shot. i know the usual songs will be there, but it's the intrigue of the unknown and the possibilities !!! but yea, i think SPACE and even Dreamin' About You would fit in real well.(especially with the piano and Maceo playing on that one). if he does wind up doing it, then we'll both know someone in his crew reads the forum !!
fingers crossed!! man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 |

anything from emancipation onwards would make me happy lol but what would blow my mind also would be "love", "the word", "get on the boat" and 3121 man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81 |
