Can someone tell me what was Mint Conditions setlist?

from what i could remember

u send me swinging

atomic dog

a jam session with stokley doing a drum solo

a brand new song from their new album coming out in 2011

pretty brown eyes

i think there maybe a song or 2 that they also did but i truly enjoyed their set

I love my boys, anyone who knows me will tell you that, but I would have been a little disappointed with that set. I coulda picked out a really nice 5 song setlist that woulda been hot.

Thanks for the info.

I had the best time of my life at Prince's concert!!! I'm still on a Prince high even after 3 days! I still can't believe that I was there! :dies: I had really good seats (section 228 row D.) I was pretty much in the middle section almost dead center. It couldn't get any better than that! There was 3 empty seats next to me, so I was able to really do my thing w/ out being cramped in next to somebody. Another Prince fan 3 seats down from me came over to me a few times to talk about Prince. She was just as happy as I was. biggrin

I wanted to surprise my mom by giving her a ticket to see Prince's show as a Christmas gift. I managed to keep it a secret from her, but only for a few weeks. I just couldn't take it anymore and ended up telling her because I was so excited to go! She's more of a casual Prince fan, but she always wanted to see him live at least once. She ended up having a great time as well.

I never danced so hard in my life!!! There were too many highlights to mention, but I think my favorite moment was when Prince sang Purple Rain. I pretty much lost it when the music for Purple Rain started. lol This was my first Prince concert and tbh, just being in Prince's presence was enough for me. I will remember this show for the rest of my life. (I'm a huge concert junkie in general. I saw Tina Turner live in concert 2 years ago and didn't think it could get any better than her until I saw Prince live! Nobody tops Prince in concert period!) MSG was crazy that night...the energy was through the roof! I'm so happy that we got not one, but two encores from Prince. After the show ended, I made sure to get the $30 tour program. I would have brought more Prince merchandise, but I was THAT broke! lol

Last night I gave in and brought another ticket to see Prince on Jan. 18th. I'm beyond excited now! This time I'll be in the 400's section. I'm so happy that I'm going to get to see him again that I really didn't care where my seat was! I invited my cousin to come along w/ me to see Prince, but she can't make it, so I'll be going by myself this time. (I actually got too excited and ended up ordering an extra ticket in the 300's section, but it's in the handicapped section, of all places! eek I have to see if I can give my second ticket away to someone or I'll be out of $! Idk how the hell I let that happen, but whatever!) 17 more days remaining! I'm dying to see what Prince has up his sleeve this time since this is going to be the last show.

your post made me smile. hope u can say hello at the meetup!!

biggrin Yes, I would like to meet up w/ you guys on the 18th!

i hear ya and i was disappointed that they opened 1st and had only a half an hour as compared 2 some screaming banshee named monae who had a longer set

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I'm going to try to keep it semi-short and sweet since many have already expressed views that I agree with about the show.

My personal highlight of this show was bringing my son to see my favorite musician. When he asked me for the tickets I was slightly surprised and completely tickled purple. When we got there and his awe of the stage, the music, and Prince's performance was the best Christmas gift (heck any reason gift) I could've have gotten. Despite his all the joy, Christopher was disappointed that nothing from Lotusflow3r or MPLSound were not played (4Ever, The Morning After, Dance 4 Me are some of his favorites). Just shows you don't have to be an old diehard to want to hear the current music.

My second personal highlight outside of Prince, was the meetup. It's always great to meet fellow Prince fans who are nice, positive and cool to be around. I wish I could've hung out for the afterparty with the "Org 6," but maybe next time.

Now for the show...

Normally I do not like to compare, rather enjoy each experience on it's own merits, but since it is the same "tour" I have to say I enjoyed the performance and show on the 17th @ Izod more than this one. While the sound @ Izod was a tad muddy for some, the energy from Prince, the band, the girls and the audience was so much higher that I did not care.

I enjoy Mint Condition but their cover filled performance left me very disappointed. As for Janelle Monae, she didn't impress me on the BET Awards performance and she didn't impress me @ MSG either. She's more than a bit gimicy and unfortunately unlike Lady Gaga her gimic (same costume, jerky/epilectic movements, screaming/singing style) isn't catching on. In comparison, Cassandra Wilson and Maceo Parker kept their sets short, sweet and true to their style, and while some may have found them borrowing it's a shame they could not open up to the positivity of true musicians from different genres.

It was also a longer show at Izod than at MSG due to the venue curfew. I find it funny that the MSG shows sold out and so much bashing went on about NJ here on the org (location, NJ in general), that Izod attendees got a longer show and paid less than MSG attendees. I'd say Izod show was more bang for your buck.

On a positive note I was thoroughly pleased to hear the piano encore and his new song/old music "The Gingerbread Man." But most importantly to see him period. While there are some flaws (almost only hits, shorter set) and some high points what it all boils down to for me is I am glad to see and hear him perform (no lipsyncing for our man) no matter what he is performing or where. I'm going to enjoy each moment/perfomrmance to the fullest because there is no promise that there will be another one...for him or for me.

hel we can change that to the org 7...come hang with us! well i don't think everyones going YET. i stress YET

nod Everybody is invited to join us. We are all one big purple family. grouphug Love that your son appreciates new Prince music and I agree that if the younger generation can like Prince's new albums, than the older generation has no excuse for not following suit. All the albums he's released since 2004 have sold very well and debuted very high. 'Musicology' was in the Billboard Top 5 for weeks (thanks to him finding that loophole in the Soundscan system which allowed him to add the album price into the ticket price and give the albums away for free at shows). '3121' debuted at number 1; 'Planet Earth' debuted in the top 3; and 'LotusFlow3r' debuted at number 2 and was only released at Target. 20Ten has also done very well even though it has only officially been released in Europe. If he was making albums that weren't debuting soo high, I could probably understand why he wasn't playing them, but since they have done soo well, I just don't get why they aren't included in this tour's setlist. One more show to go...hopefully a whole new setlist is done. *crosses fingers*

Here is what I wrote down:

You Got Me Swingin'

Keep It Right at Home (Not sure if this was the title, but that was a line in the chorus)

Atomic Dog (Pfunk cover)

Medley/jam incl. Pop Music (Turns Me On), Soul Power (J. Brown), Gett Off riff, Love & Happiness (A. Green)

Nothin' Left to Say (slow song)

Another song in here???

New song from upcoming album

Pretty Brown Eyes

Honestly I was yawn with both Mint Condition and Janelle Monae.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

The ticket is $79.50 + $14.35 (tax and convenience fee.) There is already a guy who said that he may want my extra ticket, but he isn't sure if he will be able to take it off my hands just yet. He told me that he would get back to me in two days to let me know - tomorrow the two days will be up. If I don't hear back from him by Tues. at the latest, I will gladly give you my extra ticket. I have it printed out already and it will be ready to be shipped off to you. I'll even print out an extra copy of the same ticket just in case something happens...you never know. wink

My willpower is weak...I am defeated. sad My boss was super excited for me and understood my need to see Prince so she said yes immediately. Prince got me on the 29th (that damn 'Gingerbread Man' song and 'Do Me, Baby' got me hooked mushy )...plus, I want 2 see who the opening act will be; maybe just Prince for 3 hours woot!

I don't think it's a matter of any fan--whether diehard or casual, "limiting" themselves to what they could hear or what time warp they've put themselves in 'box-wise". I mean who wouldn't want to hear rare or new tracks or even other classics many fans claim he doesn't play anymore or often. The thing is, that no fan at any level, whether casual or diehard, will ever have control or the final decsion, as to what songs a musician decides to perform at concert series, private shows, smaller venuce show or what singles/albums to release, whether national or international.

Unless an artist specifically makes requests to his fans/audiences opinions, on what songs they would like to hear him perform, which he has in fact done at previous shows at smaller venues, like during open soundchecks where fans were invited or even when a request in the past went out online, during the existence of the NPGMC, like when he first exposed the track "Feel Better, Feel Good, Feel Wonderful" and asked fans their opinons on the snippet he provided..

I mean we can definitely air our opinions/views on his music, concert performances, etc., until the cows come home twice, but at the end of the day, that artist will still be the one to make the final decision as to what songs he will perform/release to his fans.

As far as Janelle, yes maybe she still needs time before performing at actual arenas, before more fans catch on to her music, but I'm sure she appreciated the opportunity to perform at MSG, thanks to Prince. I'm sure she pulled in some new fans last night. i did see about 2 different rows of people standing and trying to do the "tightrope" dance, when Janelle was singing it.

so if the artists decide 2 do a whole show of non hits ..woah ..it's the artists decision right? lol

if some dig janelle that's cool by me and totally get that perhaps new fans were made cause i sure became one of victor wooten after seeing him open up 4 prince at paisley

When he played uptown on the 18th, I was stoked!!! I love the hits, but those are songs I rarely even listen to as a long-time-fan. Like you say L4OA, I love hearing his other music. I would have croaked if he had of played Laydown at MSG. I wanted to hear that so bad! smile

I'll admit, for a hot quick second when I 1st saw him, it threw me for a loop. After 2 seconds my brain kicked in and I truly saw. Can't blame a girl for wishing! wink

I gotta give him this much, the man truly committed to something and he followed thru. I was wondering where he ended up sitting after all that moving around the sections. razz

uh huh miss "i'm not going 2 the 18th" lol

lol I know but everybody on facebook had a hand in talking me into it. My willpower is weak...I am defeated. sad My boss was super excited for me and understood my need to see Prince so she said yes immediately. Prince got me on the 29th (that damn 'Gingerbread Man' song and 'Do Me, Baby' got me hooked mushy )...plus, I want 2 see who the opening act will be; maybe just Prince for 3 hours woot!

u just wanna see the org 6 again hehehehe

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

so if the artists decide 2 do a whole show of non hits ..woah ..it's the artists decision right? lol

if some dig janelle that's cool by me and totally get that perhaps new fans were made cause i sure became one of victor wooten after seeing him open up 4 prince at paisley

When he played uptown on the 18th, I was stoked!!! I love the hits, but those are songs I rarely even listen to as a long-time-fan. Like you say L4OA, I love hearing his other music. I would have croaked if he had of played Laydown at MSG. I wanted to hear that so bad! smile

i ws hoping that he would have done it too cause that slapyouupsideurhedfunk was missing at this show. even hearing controversy would have helped.

i missed u being there tho hug

2elijah said: Thanks for the pics. I wondered early in the announcement of these shows if they had a billboard in Times Square promoting this concert. With millions of people in the Square today on New Year's Eve, it's great that promotional billboard is there for them to see.

2elijah said: Wow, awesome pics of the concert. Thanks for posting. Keep the pics coming!

You're welcome. Yeah good that those promotional shots at Times Square have been made, because it's such a brief period that they're visible for the public.

Cool job by everyone else here who made and posted concert-shots. Hopefully more shots to come from the show on January the 18th.
