Since we've all been to multiple shows... If you had to put in order your favs (they were all great of course)... What is your fav order:
Mine is: 1/18 2/7 12/29
It was really hard to pick an order for the Jan and Feb show b.c the crowd was great last night, but his energy was on fire both nights--maybe even a bit more 1/18. I think he loved the group of musicians on the 18th...kept talking about that...But then last night he threw in Mountains...
All in all it the shows left me wanting to go back again...still...I hope he comes back..
I am so happy to have gone...

Performance and energy=wise Feb 7 Dec 17 Dec 29
Sentimentality wise Dec 29th is my favorite because I gave my 7-year-old son his first Prince Experience OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!

Exactly...different for different reasons! That is how I feel about the Feb and Jan shows..
I saw a 6 year old last night in the VIP section-my daughter wanted to come with me and asks why she cannot come..Your child must have loved it:)..
I wish I had gone to the NJ shows too..

1/18- best shakeup of the setlist on the tour, and P was on fire in his performances, alot of guitar playing by P in this show, which is what i love. my personal fav.
2/7- best overall vibe, energy, and atmosphere.
12/18- bit of a letdown cause the show was very short and ended abruptly. but not having seen him since 2004 Musicology, this was a great feeling. [Edited 2/8/11 13:12pm]

For me it's a toss up between the Izod friday night show (12/28) and the MSG show the next night (12/29). Shelia E was great, the crowds were raucus and enthusiastic, and all the songs I wanted to hear got played.
They were all wonderful shows though in their own way.
My least favorite was probably the first show at Izod. A bit too ballady and low key for me, and the poor attendance was a bit of a downer.

1) 2/7 By the time he did the guitar solo during Controversy, I knew this would be special. He was possessed in the best possible way. The love in the building was on overdrive.
2) 12/29 Awesome, but I just think he can't help but get better the more dates he plays.

I went to 3 of the six shows. Here's my ranking:
1. Feb 7th (MSG) - Prince's energy was on fiya!!! Loved the set list - Laydown, Moutains, the Sly Stone and MJ music.......HEAVEN ON EARTH!!
2. Dec 17th (IZOD) - Prince's energy level was actually better during this show (especially with Sheila E. in the house). However, it's ranked 2nd because the sound wasn't as clear as it could've have been (not Prince's falt of course, however, it took away a lil' something from my experience)
3. Dec 29th (MSG) - it was good....just not as good as the other two.
He said he'll be back.....I'll be there!!!!

I ranked Dec. 17th as my number 1, but I had an excellent seat on the floor near the tip of the arrow and I didn't really notice the same sound problems like I did on the 14th--but then I had a seat much farther away in the bleachers. So, maybe you had a different sound experience than I did. But, I agree his energy and performance were outstanding that evening IMO. 12/29 also had gingerbread man which that and the piano encore were the highlights of all 6 shows...i guess thats tied with 1/18 then
ok i did it
i'd tied 1/18 and 12/29 for #1 then the 15th cause it was my first
maybe 1/18 12/29 12/15 my first show. the awe i was in 12/17 house lights encore with insatiable, scandalous, adore 2/7 12/18 solely because it was mostly just all the same setlist and not too many suprises
but mountains and pop life last night were off the chain!

2/7 (MSG) - the energy was off the hook, great crowd.
12/17 (Izod) – Sheila E surprise was fantastic. Prince and Cassandra Wilson singing “When We’re Dancing Slow and Close.” And of course, just seeing Maceo Parker perform was great.
12/29 (MSG) – main issue with this show were the two opening acts; Prince should have dismissed “Mint Condition” and left only “Janelle Monae” leaving Prince with more stage time.

YES! I've been praying for mountains since 2005 and he finally played it. that alone made it worth everything. And Him and Cee Lo together on Crazy still brings tears to my eyes. Join me under the waterfall

I was at those 3 plus the opener in NJ. I am in total agreement! 1/18 was the best especially seeing Maceo but 2/7 was a close 2nd seeing as he played Mountains, one of my alltime faves! I would have liked to see Sheila though. Of course she played at the 2 shows I missed. The opener was a little dissapointing. Too short and lousy sound. And yes, I'm ready for a few more shows. NYC Rules!

I am ready for a few more shows too...Bit of a let down knowing I don't have one to loook forward to every few weeks....
I forgot about 1/18-I also enjoyed Maceo...And actually enjoyed opening acts of both Jan and Feb concert (Dap kings/Cee-lo)...I wished Sheila was at one of the shows I saw....
I did not 'mind' Janelle Monae but there was something about the band that drove me crazy..maybe just the sound system...or at times it just sounded like one drawn out song...
For sure though the 1/18 and 2/7 shows were awesome..I guess I liked both for different reason..My seats for 1/18 not that great but for 2/7 awesome...
Did anyone else notice (not sure really) but I thought at one time over when he started the Doves Cry/Pop Life time...he seemed 'tired' for a sec/minute but seemed to liven up pretty quickly..like he lost steam??
Anyway..wishing I had another show to look forward to in a few weeks..sigh..

Sheila was the highlight of 12/18 for me. I think I cheered louder for her that night than I did for Prince. OMG she looked AMAZING! I am so straight but hot damn I'd go lesbian for some Sheila!
I feel like I'm going thru Prince junkie rehab. This morning I was like... that's it? I have nothing else to look forward to. No more Prince concerts. Kinda sad. But u never know what this guys gonna do, so I'm hoping he'll be a man of his word THIS TIME, and come back to NY or NEAR NY. Philly, DC, I'd be okay with that. Even if I had enuff advanced notice I'd fly to LA again. [Edited 2/10/11 8:19am] Prince esta muerto...

Purplethuder3121: I believe I was in the 100's at IZOD. The sound started off a little weird for me, but as the show went on it seemed to get better. However, after I posted my reply I had already changed my mind . I still think the sound could've been better at the beginning, however, the three Encore's with the house lights on and Sheila E. put 12/17 over the top!!!
So, here's my new list:
12/17 - FTW!!
2/7
12/29....I love Prince so I always enjoy him. But, my joy was a 'lil less with this show. I think I was tired from work maybe.......

When I went to the show on Dec 15th at the Izod I thought "this is the BEST concert I've EVER been to. No one can top it!"
When I went to Madison Square Garden on Feb 7th I quickly changed that thought. That was the BEST concert I've ever been to. Monday night was beyond expectations. When I saw him emerge from the stage and Laydown start I was like "you need to lay down let me show you how we do this thing down in funky town." People around me were like "huh?" It wasn't my fault that they hadn't heard the 20ten album or Lotus Flower because they stopped singing when he began playing Dreamer too My friend looked at me like "what in the world!" She was one of the fans who didn't know Prince music pass Parade era. People need to get on Prince's plane and stay for the entire ride or they will miss a heck of a lot of genius It may be bumpy but it is oh so worth it!
So, Feb 7th was the best for me! I saw him at the first concert of the tour and the last. And hands down, the Feb 7th show comes in first!
Like someone else mentioned about Prince rehab. I totally understand. The withdrawal symptoms are not pretty. I want another concert to go to like right now! "You need to laydown and let me show you how we do this thing up in funky town. From the heart of Minnesota here come the purple Yoda guaranteed to bring the dirty new sound! Come on, now!"

In order: 2/7, 12/17 and 12/15. Best seats on 2/7, MSG audience was energetic and it was exciting hearing the song snippets when he was at the piano. 12/17- encores w/ houselights on+ Sheila E., need I say more. 12/15- he sang some of my fav's in front of my section. All great shows, glad I went more than once... Have u had your + sign today?
