There is a line formed at Butter and Prince's manager has been spotted. I did not go. I am too tired from digging out yesterday, to wait all night for something that might happen. I guess I am getting old. I hope my friends, who are lined up have a great time. biggrin

Good thing you guys didn't go. It was ridiculous. They did not let any of the fans in. A bunch of us waited for hours in the freezing cold. Even the security told me the place was not even close to full.

Since when did Prince aftershows only get to be for VIP special people.

Honestly, shame on you Prince for walking into the club right past your die hard fans freezing their asses off and not allow them in.

Man, I have been going to Prince aftershows for years. He always used to let the regular fans in. Truthfully I love Prince but to walk past freezing cold die hards that you know have been waiting for hours and not let them in. Especially when the place aint even full. Well that to me is just disgusting.

?uestlove's twitter feed has a song-by-song rundown of what transpired at Butter.. looks like they played from about about 3:30 to 5?

For my fellow fans who were out front, looks like the dude at the door was lying when he told us P was only watching and not performing. smile

Ehm, Prince once said during one of his 1995 aftershows that they are what he does to have fun. Fun for himself that is. That is his well-deserved right. Fans freezing their asses off do so on their own responsibility......

I just wish Prince's staff member who came outside had told us flat out "we are not letting y'all in", instead of qualifying it with "it's very unlikely" and "probably" etc, cuz that sounded to us hopeful fans like "hint-hint wink-wink you've still got a shot" smile

All princes after parties in Europe in the last few years where open to fans

Some of them even sold on the web in advance (21 night in INDIGO)

I have no idea how it was like in the States but I believe it was the same

So I cant see how you can claim the fans are morons and he is not

I remember as a little kid standing out side a jam session where Michelle Pertociani and Wayne shorter were playing. I was a kid and the guards didnt wan to let me in. Tanya Maria, Shorter's late wife passed by the door, looked at us and said to the guards in her muma's voice, why doint you let these two kids in ? I remember as an angel until this day.

Prince sings about compassion but I never hear stories about his kindness but only stories about he he is acting as an asshole.

I am a fool for his music but just cant stand his personal act, especially to his loyal fans

Glad I didn't go there and wait, I was in bed by 1:00!

Even from the setlist, it seems to just be the same old thing . . . that is, the songs from his current setlist that he didn't perform last night and a few covers. Would have been a big disappointment to wait around all right for that, especially after being at the great Butter's show in 2006.

Not all the time. He's let many fans intor his aftershows over the years, and we can't have everything. lol There's a lot of celebs here in NYC that have been attending his shows, so I'm not surprised that regular fans can't get in, as so many celebs are here for his shows. I'm sure if Prince wants to do a special show for his regular/diehard fans, it will be something announced either before or after a concert. Remember he almost did one at the Apollo a few weeks ago, but because Paul McCartney's band was setting up, it didn't happen. I'm just appreciating all the W2A shows right now, and enjoying them. I wasn't looking forward to any aftershows during these series of concerts, because just the main show alone drains your energy in a good way!lol

lol I never expect anything than what I paid for. Any extras offered to fans, has to come from the Prince himself. There was no official announcement that Prince fans would be let into private aftershows, so standing on line hoping to get in, is a risk a fan takes on their own.

Oh please stop with this nonsense and like a previous person said, take your head out from his .....

It was a pretty cruel thing to do any way you look at it. It was not a huge celeb party first of all. The place was not even close to full and I was at the previous Butter show where you could not move cause it was wall to wall people. Someone mentioned above that the girl running the supposed list(which was imaginary by the way) gave us a possibility that some fans would be let in. This is true and even more so than that, my friend who was with me was on this "list" through a publication who had contacted the company handling it. We were told, on the dl, outside by people involved that the plan was to let around 30 of the outside fans in after the VIP list was taken care of as long as there was room(which there was apparently). After Prince got there one of the security told me he kept trying to get this list woman to come and let some fans in and she just said no im not going back out there. All i saw after that was a few Butter employees who came out and let in a few of their friends who they called and told to come down. This was after security came out and said the list is closed and no one else is getting in.

Look, we all love prince to death. that is why we are here. But to see something like this happen and not question someone's heart to do something so cruel to your rabid die hard fans is just straight crazy.

No need to insult to satisfy your anger, and uhm my head is doing just fine and where it's suppose to be, but I won't stoop to your level of insult if that's how you choose to respond. lol I was also at the previous Butter show in 2006, right in front, enjoying the show, so I know what it looks like inside and how the show went down in 2006. The thing is, that was a "paid" party, fr fans who were members of the NPGMC. It seems that a lot of fans were hoping to get in to the one last night, but it's no surprise how suddenly other names pop up on the list or employees who worked there were going to let their friends in first, causing those waiting on line hoping to get in, to be angered because they couldn't get in. This is why I prefer "planned and paid" aftershows, as you have a better chance and more confirmed entry into the show, and the venue will only sell enough tickets to fill capacity standards. Unfortunately from the details, it seems this was not handled well or organized as it should have been, by the Butter staff, so I think the blame should be more directed towards the Butter staff, since you stated that Prince tried to work it out so that a small number of his fans could be let in, which I did not see that mentioned in your first post, so my response was based on what you provided in that post. In any case, maybe next time. Have a good day. biggrin
