While we all know he's capable of cancelling it's difficult to believe he will this time.

Would be nice to hear some sort of confirmation from the man himself though..... confused

I think the gigs haven't sold out yet because we're not talking about the most exotic places in the world here: Arras, Werchter and Roskilde.
I think most people have never even heard of these towns!
Plus the fact that they're outdoors, two of them in a field might not be very attractive for a lot of people.
If they had announced three gigs in Milan, London and Paris - same capacities, it would've sold out in no time.

cool

After Glastonbury Roskilde is the biggest music festival in Northern Europe - and just like Glastonbury it celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. 25,000 volunteers & 112,000 visitors last year, largest stage 60,000 capacity...and it sells out every year. The fact that it is in Roskilde doesn't seem to have been a problem the previous years and somehow I doubt it's going to matter this year...

all concerts will take place on a field , so there's no one sitting
therefor i reckon it'd be impossible for security to see if anyone's taking pictures
(unlike London in 2007 where i saw people being told not to take pictures by security ,
btw despite that , people still actually managed to film 3 shows though , i don't know how they managed cool lol )

there were more than 3 complete london 2007 show filmed, and if you include all the cameraphone stuff, probably every show had at least some parts filmed, including the aftershows

Wow you really want us to think that 125 shows out of 1900 is a lot of cancelled shows. P is a human not a fucking machine. In addtion some of these shows look like after concerts which are thrown together on short notice anyway.

You guys are really tripping with this P is Sly Stone bullshit.

every man and his dog in the cheap seats had cameraphones out at times. i've seen clips of loads of shows. some of them ain't bad for what they are. some from the back of the indigo2 are more of a proof of concept, and you have to have an open mind to accept that the reddish blur amongst the black is prince. other stuff with zooms from far back are quite good

i was in line at the indigo2 once and some guy came up to me and said he had a video of me and prince, and pulled out his camera and showed me something he shot from the lower tier, with me down the front in clear shot with prince onstage. i wasn't sure if he was a fan of me, or a fan of prince, but it was a strange experience. it made the other people around me in the line laugh

so basically we have a 93% chance that the gigs won't be cancelled, but the odds of cancelation increase when you consider specific countries. it looks like ireland and london have the highest percentage of cancelations

Hi to all,
i participate here not-so-often but if i can provide some help as a french native, i would be happy to do so.

First of all, don't be afraid about cancellations: as stated before, those 3 festivals are tied up together and have an impressive list of acts for 2010 already scheduled.

Of course, with our little P, we never know what would happen, but be sure that all of this is 100% legit.

Arras is a middle-sized town in the north of France, but in the last few years they have gained fame with the "Main Square" festival. The Citadelle (where the show takes place) is surrounded by 17th century buildings and would be a perfect spot for Prince to play. At least for a festival-type show.

It seems that ticket sales have been much slower for the Arras show, but now all Gold Circle tickets seem to be sold out (unless some distributors release a few more hundred tickets in the next days or weeks, as the show is only in more than two months).

Larry Graham and Mint Condition have been booked somewhere else for the same day, but they eventually turned for Arras. So, again dont worry they will be there.

We believe that for people from the UK or Germany, Arras is a very accessible place for a concert. And if you plan to do the Werchter show the next day, it is less than a 2-hour drive from Arras.

And last but not least... for the french-speaking people there exist a message board that would help you organize this journey, and find good tips and advices.

See u there!
Laurent

My advice?

Save your money and-

-rent a Sign of the Times dvd.

-watch an old Lovesexy video

-go and see some new cutting edge artist who deserves a fan's money

Prince has never cancelled a show in Belgium before. (He actually "added" two concerts here while touring Europe - once, he did two in a row when only one had been planned in advance and the second time, he hadn’t originally planned on visiting Belgium but decided to come and pay us a visit anyway. Yes, Prince really loves Belgium biggrin (not my words, his !! He said so during his 2002 concert in Antwerp - reason enough to love him right back !! ) So, that looks promising, doesn’t it ? Furthermore, the concert promotor who’s organising these concerts has worked successfully with a lot of world-famous artists and has been in this business since the early 80’s. I’m sure he knows what he’s doing biggrin

every man and his dog in the cheap seats had cameraphones out at times. i've seen clips of loads of shows. some of them ain't bad for what they are. some from the back of the indigo2 are more of a proof of concept, and you have to have an open mind to accept that the reddish blur amongst the black is prince. other stuff with zooms from far back are quite good

i was in line at the indigo2 once and some guy came up to me and said he had a video of me and prince, and pulled out his camera and showed me something he shot from the lower tier, with me down the front in clear shot with prince onstage. i wasn't sure if he was a fan of me, or a fan of prince, but it was a strange experience. it made the other people around me in the line laugh

cool
i wish there was video footage of the september 13th aftershow no matter how bad the quality might be
i was there

i was there too. that was a great show. was that the one where he had the black towel and kept running onto the stage and screaming when shelby was singing misty blue? i was front row at all the aftershows and i could hear him scream/sing/talk when he was off mic

i think that was the night where he was playing the tamborine right in front of me and i didn't know if i was supposed to hit it or not, so just did. so you can hear my tamborine duet with prince on the bootleg. i'm surprised that didn't make it to the official cd, as i'm sure it was a highlight of his life

snippity de doo dah...

so basically we have a 93% chance that the gigs won't be cancelled, but the odds of cancelation increase when you consider specific countries. it looks like ireland and london have the highest percentage of cancelations

I’m sure he knows what he’s doing biggrin

so what you are saying is that statistically there is a 123.42% chance of prince playing in belguim? that's reasonably good odds. even phil collins would approve

i hate you cunts at the concerts that clap and shout and singalong, spoiling the fucking bootlegs! you should all be taken outside and shot one by one. they should stick gimp masks with snookerballs on fans before they enter aftershows, and tape their fucking hands together with duct tape so they can't clap
