still find it odd though since the countdown numbers showed 47.300 purchases being processed

i think it's odd too..
the NMBS (belgian railway) said that they have only 1500 tickets left and that most of the online tickets are sold out "only a few 1000 remaining online and we still have 1500"

Various media outlets have reported the figure as released in a statement by Live Nation. (so the figure is possibly even slightly less)

the NMBS has only been given a certain amount of tickets.

Just because the capacity of the venue is 65.000-75.000, depending on the lay out, doesn't mean it's a flop when u do less. It's all about good business.

Obviously the promotors' sales projection is lower than the full capacity of the venue..hence the most expensive Golden Circle tickets at Werchter ever. Their maximum guesstimate might be about 40.000. combine that with the Prince ticket price & they got their maximum profit already. (They need to make their profit at a higher price per head because reaching full capacity isn't expected). It makes business sense. Just compare it to Madonna's Golden Circle price at Werchter last year at 85 euros. I'm sure the production cost on that show is about 20 x higher (mildly put), but since it was her 1st ever Belgian gig they expected it her to reach full capacity so the price per head was lower.

I do think publicity 4 the gig could have been better..a lot of my friends & relatives had no idea Prince was coming.

I did a little google research and it seems like the capacity of 70.000 is measured at one day of Rock Werchter, which is still a lot bigger than a one off gig at Werchter fields. The area in front of the other stage (marquee) and the shopping area left from the entrance are closed down.
I think 40.000-50.000 people should normally fill that space.

When Madonna was at Werchter Boutique last year, there were at least 80 000 persons !

WTF? Why didn't he just do Glastonbury as well? They've been trying to book him for yars and i know from an excellent source that the owners of Glastonbury Festivals Michael and Emily Eavis tried to get him for the 40th anniversary this year. It is just days before Denmark.

Bet he wanted too much money! Little greedy bumface.

Oh well Stevie Wonder it is.

he can get more money from other gigs. glasto doesn't normally pay that well as they have so many acts. most bands do it for the esteem or promotion, just like the usual folk who used to do all the charidee gigs in the 80s and 90s and see record sales shoot through the roof

plus i can't see prince in hi heeled wellies dodging bottles of piss being thrown at the stage, can you?

wow unique very very truthfull as usual lol

I'm have major problems with my laptop (need a new fan) and it keeps crashing every five minutes. Do you have a telephone number to book for Wercheter? Missed out on gold circle tickets obviously sad Is the gig all seated? Or is it standing on the pitch? Cheers.

PS.I live in the UK for the person who asked earlier. He hasn't played here since 2007

No seats, it's in a field. biggrin
Here's a picture of the field with the stage on the upper right side.

They received my payement and I could print my tickets.
Didn't get an e-mail, neither the question if they should send the tickets.
It's thanks 2 the info of some people here that I knew I could print the tickets. New times indeed lol But I'm trying 2 keep up!!

30.000 tickets sold isn't bad at all 4 an artist who had his last top 10
hit in '95 and hasn't been in the media that often since.
Ok,his albums did get to the top 5 (untill PE) but that's it.
Don't compare him with Madonna who would do anything 2 get some attention
the last decade (I'm not hating, she made good albums in the 80's-90's).

It means there will be more space 4 us: the fans!

Nobody is comparing the holy & pure Prince
with Madonna...we're merely putting things in perspective as far as the venue is concerned. In conclusion though, chartwise Prince is the least succesful act of the last decade 2 play Werchter solo & yet his ticket prices are extortionate and the highest ever seen 4 Werchter's Golden Circle. I'm not hating either though., he made good albums with the revolution. cool

Prince to Roskilde Festival
One of the strongest acts in 40 years of festival history has just been confirmed.

Last Thursday’s approx. 60 announced artists are still fresh. Five days later, Roskilde Festival already has an addition – even one with true star status – ready for its audience. A surprise of the kind that separates Roskilde Festival from most other music events in Europe.

PRINCE (US) comes on one of his rare European visits at Roskilde Festival.

"I’ve had to pinch myself many times since last night when everything fell into place. Getting Prince to Roskilde Festival has been on our wish list for years. He’s not a frequent guest at festivals, so it's a great honour for us. It's wonderful finally to be able to tell this great news to our audience," says music director Rikke Øxner.

The only festival concert
The rock demigod’s first concert at Roskilde Festival will be one out of only three this summer. The other two take place in Werchter in Belgium and Arras in France, and Roskilde Festival is the only real festival that Prince visits. The American legend has not played in Denmark since 2002.

Today, Roskilde Festival adds a gilt-edged name to its festival poster, whom probably only few dared dream of. But Roskilde Festival's ambition is to make nearly abandoned dreams come true. And now all festival-goers can look forward to a magical evening in the company of a rock-historic eminence in gold and purple.

Tickets to Roskilde Festival 2010 are available through the festival's online ticket sale.

See you at Roskilde Festival 1 - 4 July 2010. Warm-up from 27 June at 8:00.

Apparently they don't announce an exact date until a couple of weeks prior to the the festival. Sorry about that. But since you fly all the way from Argentina it might be smarter to enjoy the entire festival. But if you just want a one day ticket it's a bit more than 156 dollars, if I've done my math correctly.

Contracts are not only on paper, they are also verbal, as was said in the Dublin case.
So if Prince says he will do a concert and takes a payment (as in the dublin case) then he has made a contract.
