A show where Prince is angry sounds potentially amazing.

Also, who else thinks things are over between he and Bria? This reminds me of the months where we heard nothing from Prince and then found out out of the blue that Tamar was out of the picture? Him performing songs from her album seems to be as good of a sign as any.

You must've been fairly near me, as I had a guy in front keep lifting his g'friend up - she must be heavy tho, 'cos he only lifted her for 5 secs at a time Still, better then the girl next to me who spent the 1st show with her face pressed into the back of the guy in front of her, who kept backing into her... I'm just glad I'm tallish Yes, that's the one! lol Yes, we must have been standing near each other at one point - cool! (I moved around a lot trying to get a better view!... not that successfully, really.) Did you see me write the live updates? I was wondering if the light from my phone would distract the peeps around me... That can be annoying. I tried to only type when it was fairly light in the hall. "John Bream, why you being fire-hydrant-head-looking..., you big seven eyed, Grover-from-Sesame-Street-looking… why you being dot dot dot?"

(Not that I could see anything wrong with the 1st versions!) Nobody changed clothes between show 1 and 2 so it'll look seamless, like one killer 2 hour show. He only changed for the last two encores of the 2nd show (into the Crimson&Clover top). I for one was not disappointed to hear any of the songs twice. I feel with that energy he releases on stage it's like a whirlwind that catches you and you can't help but being swirled around in it. It may go round in circles but as you're flying along in that hurricane you'll never feel like "hey, I've been here b4, I've seen this side!", are you? That's what it felt like for me, being swept along in the whirlwind of the energy, every moment felt unique, each song unique in the context of the show. I'll never tire if hearing any of his songs live. After all, if he can play Purple Rain like it was the first time, even after all these years, why can't we hear it & enjoy it, sing along with it &swing our arms - like it was the first time? I agree. The repeated songs were powerful enough to not upset me. I do think the shows could've been a little longer but maybe 90 mins is typical for a MJF slot. Who knows? I so did not understand the zone badge thing for those attending the two concerts and the 2 staff members we asked were not helpful so decided to go back to our hotel to claim the complimentary cocktail and then went back and watched the fireworks display from the bar area of festival hall. I'm glad I was not the only one confused about that... I asked three or four members of staff, they all told me something different. There were fireworks?? Totally missed that. "John Bream, why you being fire-hydrant-head-looking..., you big seven eyed, Grover-from-Sesame-Street-looking… why you being dot dot dot?"

[Edited 7/18/09 18:32pm] wasn't an MJ song one of the staples during the 3121 in Vegas and O2 shows? I don't think so. I would find Prince covering MJ weird, tbh. He did play Janet's What Have You Done For Me Lately in a couple of aftershows. That didn't work that well either (for me, at least) "John Bream, why you being fire-hydrant-head-looking..., you big seven eyed, Grover-from-Sesame-Street-looking… why you being dot dot dot?"

Fireworks were amazing. They were shooting from a barge/boat on the lake and went on for about 15/20 minutes or so. The badge stuff was not well organised at all. I was also unlucky enough to get picked out by overzealous security and made to check my teeny tiny handbag in even though someone else had already searched it and said it was ok. Of course when I got to the hall there were handbags and rucksacks everywhere. I must have a suspicious face.

Who else was waiting for the second concert(with me) at the side of the venue ? We made it on to Swiss telly!
whoever you were thanks for keeping one lonely Mancunian company. The second concert was great..worth the wait/crush in the auditorium. The sound quality was superb too in that hall. If the DVD ever gets released I might re create the atmosphere by putting my kids in front of the telly so that I can just about see John Blackwells drumsticks at the top of the screen Do we have a french translator on the org? I got a copy of the interview with Renato and Rhonda in the paper before the concert and could do with a couple of bits translating that I cannot quite understand...any offers??

[Edited 7/19/09 8:04am] Most probably because lots of fans that were close to the stage were taking pics in this direction, he put 3 fingers up not sure what that meant, think I can guess though. I was close to the stage and saw that look, he looked really pissed off.

I'm just reading this stuff now and I'm so excited. It sounded like 2 killer shows! I wish I could have gone to them. And Prince looks great in them pics. Very VERY exciting! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Hope this doesn't come across the wrong way but your comments about having trouble seeing actually made me feel bit better about not going. I'm only 5ft (at a push!) and would have really struggled. Sounds like you had great time though. And thanks for your updates, I sat here Saturday night waiting patiently for the next one....and wishing I was there. Even though I wouldn't have seen a thing.

I agree. Actually went back and played this track today...(rare occurence btw)..and do admit that if Prince had been singing this the track would've sounded so much better. Kinda answers the whole,'when will Bria sing live' debate though... Loved the info that Prince opened with When I Lay My Hands On You'
