Just that as a performer myself, I have seen some hostile sights in my time and they are usually from those that I have stated earlier so if I struck a nerve with anyone, I won't apologise, but yes I am shocked! 'dre With respect, point not taken. You sound like you are making judgements about people based on very limited information. What did you do when you got heckled, go and ask which type of accommodation they reside in? How do you know anything about those people? And also, I think you are probably wrong about the glowstick brigade. People who have 'dead end jobs' are much less likely to spend their hard earned cash on a ticket to see Prince unless they were passionate about his music. I would guess that those people who acted disrespectfully were probably wealthy enough to take it or leave it. Having said that, I don't know who they were so I won't presume. I disagree with their actions, end of. "so glam, it's absurd"

However, lets not get this out of context. Maybe 50-100 were thrown out of 20,000. Idiots, yes... but statistically in an audience that size there will also be 100-200 people who would clinically be called a psychopath too! 1 out of 20,000 people decided to throw a glowstick at Prince - still today I cant see what they were trying to achieve - I think if Prince stood up and walked off for his own safety I don't think the thrower would have left alive!!! What I am saying is it was a huge minority of the people there, and I think it would have happened the same in most places around the world for the reason above. There will always be 1% of idiots wherever you go. Example: We were in the second row of the aftershow balcony last night and had a great time apart from the 2 drunken idiots who must have gone for a wee/drink 10-15 times during the show, falling on top of us each time. They were hammered by the time they got there and just kept drinking. One of them got thrown out as he was seen falling down the stairs and the other guy actually was slumped over asleep for the majority of the rest of the concert!!! When you think there was so much demand for tix they were being sold at £500 on ebay... what an astonishing waste! Totally make you right. Whilst the glow stick throwing was stupid and upsetting to see, there wasn't actually that many being lobbed. It wasn't even 1% of the total audience. It really was a stupid few who clearly saw one stupid person throw one and decided to join in. There really were not that many being thrown. There shouldn't have been any thrown but in a crowd of 22,000 people, you're going to get a few idiots thrown in there aren't you. Law of averages.

wolfy was and still is totally disgusted at that glowstick throwing frenzy and im sure they messed up the last encore as prince might have done an extra song r 2 perhaps.
the hundred r so lunatics on the upper tiers that were mainly responsible should be ashamed of there actions and as i was in 110 that night there were ppl struck by the flying missiles. i was surprised that prince came back on afterwards as im sure his security was against the idea after what had happened. i can only imagine that it was folx who didnt give a damn about the ppl below r prince and his staff. other then that it was a fantastic show and as prince himself said its one show he will never 4get. I doubt anyone was surprised by his clothes and heels.Good point. I think it can be scarey for a performer to have a potential situation that can get out of control. If the crowd started fighting with each other over the glow stick tossing, I doubt there were enough security on hand to contain the crowd. What I was trying to do, by mentioning the Prince/Stones fiasco, is to say Brits aren't the only ones who have behaved badly at concerts. Nor should they be conglomerated as a group for a few people's inappropriateness. [Edited 9/22/07 12:34pm]

Whatever went on that night, it sounds as though Prince maintained a professional approach to the events, and finished the concert. You have to admire him for that!

"The show must go on". Prince was very professional. I really thought he wouldn't come back out again and if he hadn't I wouldn't have blamed him. However, when he finally did come back out I half expected him to get on the mic himself and tell people to stop throwing the glow sticks!

Prince must be smart and experienced enough not to get too freaked out by such things, hence the encore. It's wierd that security didn't think about this before hand though. I hope they will not let it happen again. "so glam, it's absurd"

However, when he finally did come back out I half expected him to get on the mic himself and tell people to stop throwing the glow sticks! At the Rolling Stones concert, where the Hell's Angels, who were hired as security, killed a fan, Mick was on the mike trying to get everyone to settle down, and it was impossible. They started playing " Symphony For The Devil "and all hell broke loose. It can get out of control pretty easily. Which is why, when Prince kept it together, went back onstage, and continued to play, he was pretty brave! I'm sure security was on the alert. With alcohol, people can get rowdy.

I felt like David James at one point. Staring up at the upper tier trying to stop them hitting me and Kat. Stopped one hitting Kat on the head from the upper tier but was hit on the back. Bastards the lot of em!
Thank Prince's promotion for this! Prince did not know about this. His promotions team came up with it (nicked from the Org!) I was incensed when I saw a stick nearly hit Prince, didn't think it hit him. If I would have seen them.....It came from the front of the stage area! I didn't think he would come back on but Prince is better than that! He is a true artist and probably did not want it to finish on a sour note! Telling the people to stop throwing the sticks would have only made them throw them more! Gits! http://www.myspace.com/savage1999uk

Totally embarrassing I couldn't believe it, found it shocking.... And Yes, I felt the show ended abrupty soon after. What on earth would possess anyone to throw something which could have had somneones eye out. To the person who threw the glow stick at the best artist on the planet, I hope u feel disgusted with yourself and got a slap from the person next to you. Sod it, I hope u get a glow stick shoved up you where the sun dont shine (sideways)!
Security have veen so over zealous with phone cameras etc, but where were u guys when the sticks were being thrown? Glow sticks were unnecessary in the first place and in hindsight a big mistake as the the IDIOTS who I doubt have ever heard a Prince tune in their drunken lives, found it ammusing to throw them at him, and others. Didnt ruin the night for me but made me sad all the same. Apologies for the negativity but had to get that off my chest. Peace to all, past few weeks have been amazing x

School's in people. Now sit up nicely and pay attention
"Great Britain" is the collective name for the three countries of England, Scotland and Wales. It also includes the small adjacent islands but it does not include the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man As a Scot, it really annoys me when people think Britain means England. Or worse still, that Wales and Scotland are part of England Having said that, I have nothing but sympathy for my English neighbours who are all being tarnished with the same brush because of a few idiots tossing (very appropriate word in the circumstances ) glow sticks last night. We have no way of knowing what their ethnic or economic backgrounds were and it's very unfair to condemn an entire country or social class. Oh, and well done to the guy who took the glow stick off that stupid woman

On the other hand, what if the glow sticks plan had stayed with the Orgers and they had still been thrown, perhaps by people who had been passed glow sticks by nearby Orgers (with the best of intentions).
Then the blame would've been entirely placed on our shoulders, Prince would've been unimpressed and we'd have been mortified to have tainted the final night. To me, that's the worst thing that could've happened. This way, whilst we may all feel angry about what happened, at least it was not our fault. "Well, maybe not the ride..."
