I wouldn't go so far as to say it ruined the night for everyone. As i said it didn't seem to affect the atmosphere in the place that much... probably only if you got smacked by one of them. There will always be idiots wherever you go.

true to a certain extent - but I think we'd've had a lot more meat in the encores if it wasn't for these pricks...

the one that hit him (hit the seat of his stool during the synth set then kinda spun up and hit his ack - luckily it wasn't head on) he was, if i remember correctly just about to start the most beautiful girl in the world - which was a first for this tour and you really felt like the synth set was just warming up - then he jumped straight in to raspberry beret - which we knew was the end of the synth. i reckon we were about to be treated to some tracks we hadn't heard yet.

Did noone else find it quite abrupt the way it finished?

After he threw his hat - he came over to the keyboard and said something along the lines of - i ain't about to be catching nothing - in reference to the sitcks thrown at the stage while he wasn't there - it was all good till that one hit him and his face just chaged

so sad and such an embarassment

plus i'm sure it cut short the last encore with the band

That explains why prince fucked up TMBGITW... he played the piano in totally the wrong key for the last 8 bars of the track before abruptly finishing it short. It was the first time i had heard prince play out of key in the 11 shows ive seen and i made a note of it in my main report as it was so unusual.

To be frank, we did not deserve any of the encores as a result of the glow sticks being thrown. I still just can't believe it - what on earth possessed those idiots to throw their glow sticks, either at other people, at the stage and equipment, or even worse, while Prince was performing.

I missed seeing the one that was thrown at Prince, but I did see one that was thrown in the direction of Shelby. She didn't see it, but Prince sure did. He turned to the area that it come from with a filthy look on his face. He should of walked off there and then. He looked angry. Those fools mad Prince angry on his last night.

As I was walking past Indigo, I over heard one of the security guys talking to the people lining up. He was saying that the Prince has specifically insisted that no glow sticks be taken into the club.

I feel ashamed that on his, and our, final night, this is how some people decide to thank him. As is only too common, the stupid actions of a few, and it was only a few, have potentially ruined it for the many.

We did not deserve the encores.
[Edited 9/21/07 18:15pm]

After witnessing the idiotic behaviour of a small minority, It was me that told one of the head security guys at The Indigo about the glow sticks being thrown at the stage and I respectfully suggested to him that they might want to take them off people as they entered the club. He thanked me. and that's exactly what they did.

Those, myself included, were treated to a fantastic, super loooong aftershow. We were lucky to get an aftershow at all frankly, the Prince of not so many years ago would have definitely have called it off. It's fortunate he seems to have mellowed out with age and don't throw his toys out of the pram these days wink lol

Can you imagine if the idiots had glow sticks to hand inside Indigo, I know a few drunk twats would not have been able to resist hurling them towards the stage, which would have meant the final aftershow on the final night of what has been an absolutely memorable last 7 weeks would have been completely ruined.

The true fans would have gone away talking about the final night for all of the wrong reasons.

Ain't it lucky you got me here wink with the foresight to tip off security about potential problems.

Now I'm no musician but even I noticed that it seemed off key. Something strange also happened with Let's Go Crazy - like the band were playing too fast for him to sing...not that it mattered, but I imagine that having a glow stick flung at you at one of your own shows that people have paid to see probably doesn't make you feel all that enthusiastic about playing! It's staggering what some people do to compensate for not having a personality.

I was in D2 - so close by the stage - and there were three women on the row in front of me. One of them threw their glowstick at the stage as Prince came down the walkway. I couldn't believe it.

She then egged one of her dopey sidekicks to follow suit, and as her friend cocked her arm back to throw her stick, I took it out of her hand. She turned around and had a go at me. I'm not proud of snatching something out of a grown woman's hand, but I wasn't going to stand there whilst this feckless idiot threw a plastic stick at the stage.

She did manage to find another to throw at the back of my head as she left. Classy.

But aside from the stupids...what a fantastic show!!!

I agree, the throwing of the sticks was totally out of order...I like to think that the people who were next to the people throwing the had some serious words at least!!

An amazing concert nonetheless...and I think Prince saved the really special stuff for the aftershow where he knew it would be an audience that was only true Prince fans and no dickheads trying to throw stuff. There was a great atmosphere in the Indigo last night I thought...no moodiness at all, just alot of luv!!

English drunk twats. They thought it looked cool, them raining down on the other people. It went on for a couple of mins and clearly it was a tiny minority of the whole. It was dreadful but in no way did it sully the memory of a fantastic show and a much appreciated run of the 21 gigs.

To be fair, people only started throwing the glowsticks after the main performance appeared to have ended at just 10pm. There was a good 15 minute break where a lot of the crowd assumed Prince had left the building (they wheeled him out in his box). I only knew from reading reviews on here that he was likely to come back...

That said, they could have stopped throwing stuff once he got back onto the stage and started playing.

My glowstick is still in my bag!

Some people use threads like this for a bit of 'Brit Bashing ', if it is true that Drezone is English as well , then shame on him

We all realize that whoever threw the glowsticks was wrong and could have caused injury, but to Blame 'The Brits' is just shocking

if there was a point to be made in this thread...i can't help but feel it's been lost in all the venom. it's gotten pretty unedifying don't you think? calm down calm down calm down smile

a few things -

* just to be clear...the glowstick hit prince's chair. unforgiveable...but see how chinese whispers can start in the first part of this thread? prince is, amongst all the other things, a very philosophical professional. he won't be crying today about it...

* the glowstick throwing, whilst irresponsible was more 'hi jinks' rather than a desire to mutilate people i think smile and, aesthetically it still did look kinda beautiful as they flew down...sorry sorry...i'm totally against it..but it was kinda pretty smile i'd like to think that if they'd been even slightly heavier (they're very light - i've got one here infront of me) that people would have thought twice before lobbing them

* throwing glowsticks...or racism? which is worse? hmmm.... think prince would be pleased to see countrymen attacking different countrymen on here? go and live in paisley park? that would be sweet...but then you'd be living in the country that gave us the nucleur slaughter of hiroshima...guantanamo bay...agent orange...etc etc etc get my point? it's not good to generalise or characterise an entire nation. i'm a 'brit' and i'm a very very dear lovely sweet young boy smile

* the 'council flat' line was, i think, the most offensive thing on this thread. let's declare war on the poor whilst we're at it? sorry, i find that kind of class sneering really despicable. think about it.

* sure there are assholes in the crowd, i've done 8 main shows and 7 aftershows and i've got a fair few stories about no necked pub-lads spoiling things momentarily, heck, i spend a great portion of every day talking myself out of misanthropic impulses...but...two wrongs don't make a right. let's move on smile

the tour has been a completely fucking glorious success. don't let handfuls of nobheads detract from that. don't throw the goodtimes baby out with the badtimes bathwater...

like the man says...come together, yeah?

big love

total respect 2 prince for walking out thru the fans 4 the final encore, rather than in the box, AFTER the synth encore, as if 2 say 'FUCK U' 2 the morons.

when the twinz started spraying '21' on the back of his jacket i thought they were gonna spray a 'bullseye' instead!

also, on the second encore 'arrival', i was wincing watching the twins riding in sitting ontop of the box waving at evryone, with thoughts of glowsitcks bouncing off them from the heavens !

I say that 'cause they're ignorant to do it. Not even the drunk Irish would do this shit. .....

Thats so unfair to put us all in 1 basket. I am a nurse and would never think of throwing anything at any1. let alone my purple god. Prince made the tickets so every 1 can go. there r alot of very greatful people out there. That might not have been able to go if they were more money.
Ebay pratts that didnt sell them. might have gone... The fact that they sell drink and allow u 2 take them to your seat is disgusting. U have drink free areas in the hight streets. made 4 that reason. The o2 should have put a stop to it. and upper most STOP THE ALCHOL. being drunk inside.. Just a though.... but I couldn't help but think that a lot of it stems from the fact that we live in a generation of festival goers.

Not saying that there is anything wrong with festivals... I've attended a couple myself. But people's approach does seem to be diferent.

What you think??
