Way back in 1981, when Prince was the opening act for the Rolling Stones, he was pelted with garbage and driven off stage. This was in California. The audience didn't like his attire. The high heeled boots were too much for Stones fans. [Edited 9/21/07 22:00pm]

oh, it was still amazing, i am just glad it happened as late as it did, with 23000 people there, about 1 in 100 people is likely to be, a bit of an idiot.
It was sadly to be expected, but nothing i repeat nothing could kill the buzz.. even for all the idiots who did throw them it was worth them all being handed out. [Edited 9/21/07 22:56pm]

Prince spotted some in the balcony at the aftershow and said people up there had contraband - he was obviously unimpressed by what happened earlier...and yes he did cut it short in the encores - i don't blame him! I'm just very grateful that he played a full version of "When You Were Mine" .... even 2 near misses by flying glowsticks didn't stop me bopping like a maniac 'til you're burnin' up

I couldn't believe what they were doing. Most of it seemed to come from the upper tiers, but it was almost everywhere in all directions at one point. Apart from being dangerous and disrespectful, some seemed to even be aiming it at the stage suites and between the stage where all the stage-hands were.
Aside from ALL the risks and everything, why compromise the final encores for the sake of nothing? I'm amazed he came back out at all. [Edited 9/22/07 1:04am]

absolutely. Probably some council flat twat who wears a shellsuit and thinks Chico Slimani sang "Kiss" on X Factor first.... Damn U Brits. U live in the most expensive city in the world and U can't show respect to a man whose career spans more than your f*cking dead end jobs could ever dream?! 'dre I am British and totally agree with you! In retrospect the tickets were too cheap meaning that way too many moronic casual fans were there, only wanting to hear 'Kiss' and 'Purple Rain' and then spend the rest of the evening getting completely pissed! I had two teenage girls sat next to me and they must of had at least 5 pints each during the show, they were constantly in and out going to the bar and were rolling about laughing in the seats, not even watching the show by the end, just giggling and sending text messages on the phones. Next time, if there is a next time, I hope Prince plays a smaller venue and bumps up the ticket prices. Start saving now orgers!

I say that 'cause they're ignorant to do it. Not even the drunk Irish would do this shit. 'dre Thanks Dre, As an Irishman I take that as a compliment. Although to give the Brits their due they do know how to form a queue correctly.

Negs said: totally agree - I didn't get hit, but many around me did - and I was in the wheelchair seating area - nothing like lobbing missiles at the disabled, eh... Fucking degenerates... (the glowstick throwers, that is, not the disabled! )
When P went off for 10-15 mins during the throwing frenzy I REALLY didn't expect him to come back. Why do people always have to ruin such beautiful things? I was in the accessible seating area at the back of 113. Luckily there was no upper tier behind us so there was noone above us to drop glo sticks onto our heads. I could see them being thrown around though and did think that they must hurt when dropped from such a height.

I wasn't there last nite as could not get ticket.
Throwing glowsticks is a complete disgrace and totally disrespectful to everyone, not just Prince. I have been three times and there has always been loads of people walking in and out buying trays of lager, not paying any attention to show. Handing out glowsticks to these morons was lunacy. I couldn't believe Thursday - Prince played a marvellous piano set and people were walking out as though it was the interval??? The legacy of really cheap seats i suppose but had he charged over £60 like on One Night Alone - he would have played far fewer shows.

What a horrible, horrible things to do. It was such a lovely idea for the final night and they had to go and ruin it. I realy don't want to share a country with such nasty people, can I renounce my citizenship and go live in Paisley Park? I'm looking out for a purple dolphin.

what utter pricks
I couldn't believe the lack of respect that those people were showing, and I think we were very lucky that he gave us more after that. but of course the idiots won't understand that, they'll just think they're brilliant for hitting the stage. yeah, well done you.

Its a shame as they were a treat from him to use them and he must have felt a bit sad that was abused
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yes the throwing was stupid but
It didn't ruin the effect It didn't cut short Prince's piano set It didn't mean that he might not have come back. It doesn't mean the tickets were too cheap.

prince made a comment at one stage "I have never had soo many hits", i watched horrified as this started, but i think prince stayed cool, as it was probably his idea in the first place to give everyone a glo stick to begin with, had a great effect for the show, but on the other hand it was like giving a 4yr old matches and a can of petrol If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

i think the glowstick lobebd at P hit his stool cause it boucned back pretty agrressivly. I thought it was a proper wankerish thing to do. Just cos we got better seats I got more hits than Madonna's got kids!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
And it's not like he even taunted the people in the upper tier last night. Not like on the One Nite Alone shows, preaching about the NPGMC and the good seats. He'd have deserved a glowstick in the face then. RIP

Have to agree, always some idiots spoiling things, but it may not have only been Brits doing this!!!!! At least Prince carried on and I did not let it spoil my night ( but then I wasn't hit by one)!!! Remember 'what goes around comes around' so if there is any karma out there, they will get their comuppance!

yeah but the one that hit prince(or his stool/lower back)when he was on synth set came from right behind him didn't it, floor or lower tier and that was the worst one as who knew how he'd react. Glad he just ignored it.
