TELEVISION RELATIONSHIPS

Why is it on many soaps, dramas etc, that a person is not noticed for their experience?

For example, Eastenders (UK). Little Mo has recently been raped. Sure, she can hide the fact, but there have been plenty of occasions where her husband, Billy, could have read how she felt. Is it this way to keep our interest, because we are sharing a secret with the character and so therefore feel involved?

hmmm

Even though I am British I have never ever watched Eastenders or Coronation Street in my entire life!! To me all these soaps are total fantasy, full of bullshit and totally cheap, moronic "entertainment" and I use that word, VERY loosely!!! I prefer 2 watch much more intellectual and intelligent programmes!!
Even when I lived in the USA, for 8 years, I never even watched any of the US soaps, either!!

These type of programmes should b totally banned!!!

I think Ur line of thinking is rather harsh. After all, soaps are only meant to be a sort of escapism. I think such an argument should be more levelled towards the great influx of reality TV shows-airports, hospitals, salons, etc whatever next? A reality show set in a public toilet?!
