The Matrix Reloaded (2003)

Did these MF'rs just to be continued me like an episode of Lost? Really? Can't say I wasn't warned but I just had to see for myself.

The shine was missing from this effort and now Neo is Superman that's developing new powers. It felt like this movie shared the production values from the first one but something was missing. Maybe because the first movie was so good and a point of comparison, I expected more?

I think my curiosity has been satisfied even with that to be continued BS, I out for Matrix 3

Lot of talk about The Matrix here so I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

The first movie is a modern classic. Brilliant, original sci-fi movie which influenced a whole load of movies, tv shows, videogames etc that followed.

The second movie is ok at best. Completely unnecessary sequel. Whereas the first movie was groundbreaking, the follow-up was a by the numbers sequel that felt like it was made by two entirely different people. Some exciting set pieces but the videogame-style special effects let it down.

The third movie is pretty much the same as the second one only without the moments of excitement.

The upcoming Matrix 4 will probably be shit as well and with the Wachowski good will earned from the first movie running out fast, if the 4th movie is terrible, then we'll have to face the fact that they are not good filmmakers and the first Matrix movie was just a fluke. Unless you're a fan of the movie Bound. Which, aside from a pretty realistic sex scene, was also kind of boring.

Always glad to have your input. Pretty much you nailed it. Part 1 was so perfect unfortunately it did cry out for a seaquel. With how boring part 2 was they should have never made part 3, but they were going for the trilogy. When is Matrix 4 coming out? I probably will see it. I have a feeling at best the movie will be just ok, kinda like the terminator movies are at this point.

Part 2 and 3 were shot at the same time so they had no choice but to release the third movie even after the second one disappointed.

I'm not sure when Matrix 4 is coming out because they suspended filming due to the coronavirus. Looking at photos from the set, it just looks like he's playing John Wick rather than Neo.

Pathfinder 2.5. It has good bones. But I only watched it to feed my Karl Urban addiction, so it had its place.

Concerning the Wachowskis, I'm one of maybe five people who liked Speed Racer more than The Matrix.

I'd like to think it's a case of making up for the poor sequels by making a worthy follow up to the original but realistically, I think it's just a shameless cash in hoping to pull on those nostalgia strings in an attempt to make some quick box office cash. Also, The Wachowskis have made a few flops now so it's unlikely either of them will get a budget for an original movie. Their only chance at making another big movie is as a sequel to what was a commercially successful franchise. And they probably have some rights to the movie which meant the studio couldn't do it without them.

The Lighthouse (2019) - Two lighthouse keepers try to maintain their sanity whilst living on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s.

After a second viewing, this wonderful oddity remains my favorite film of 2019. 5/5

Just recently found another movie called "The Lighthouse" only it's from 2018. Directed by Chris Crow with actors I'm not familiar with.

It looks very similar...have you heard of it sexton?

CGI better??? I doubt it, still looks good today. I think Emma covered it all in why making another Matrix movie. Also maybe they want to start another trilogy series.

Two Mules for Sister Sara (1970)

Western, check. Clint Eastwood, check. A young Shirely MacLaine with some sass, check. Just with these three things I should have loved this movie but I didn't.

Clint's role seemed like a tongue in cheek version of the roles he previously played in Westerns. Overall it just felt like a weak effort on the part of the writing and the acting seemed off right from the beginning. The was cinematography was good and Mexico was beautiful but this movie missed the mark.

I used to like the cartoon when I was small. I remember more about that than I do the movie though. Keanu Reeves without the beard looks like Alan Rickman's character from Harry Potter. I think this is going to be similar to the latest Dumb and Dumber movie in that it will be two actors, who are much older now, making fools of themselves by trying to act young.

Me too - that was a horrific way to manipulate the audience. I get enough of that from Disney killing off the parents of all their characters.

Sadly, the studios are addicted to the franchise projects and the money they (hopefully) bring in - no matter what the genre. neutral

I needed a laugh and a break from the lovely political/social news and the global pandemic. I have not watched this unedited in its entirety in years, but man did it hold up! Monty Python rarely disappoints. Cleese, Idle, Jones, Palin, Chapman and Gilliam playing (sometimes in the same scene) agianst each other as different characters was simply brilliant.

I needed a good LOL evening and I got it! lol

Cosmos(Amazon) 2.8 pretty good given it's non-existant budget still it's corny as heck especially when it gets intensely dramatic. 3 guys sitting in a car watching the sky getting intense. Definitely would appeal to sky watchers not so sure about anyone else.

L.A. Confidential (1997)

Suprised I had not seen this movie as I love Film Noir. I really like the movie overall and it felt like the pacing kept me interested. Love period movies (to a degree) I noticed some of the details which really made it believable.

Kind of cool that this was a break out movie for Guy Pearce and Russell Crowe (for American audiences). Kevin Spacey, Kim Basinger and Danny DeVito were all excellent as well.
