Each city in California has it's own vibe so there's no general answer to that. Berekley's different than LA, which is different than Frisco, which is different than Silicon Valley. The closer you are to the ocean the more expensive the city. Highly racially diverse, since there are large populations of people from all over the world. Right now in SD there is a vast change in the dynamic in some areas with the expectation of the coming growth, I see urban renewal in full effect,

In Southern Cali you definitely need a car. You can survive without one but it ain't easy. I don't know about Northern Cali. I'm sure Inland you need one too, more rural areas futher in.

Yeah I see that the rent for a house is $2500 I have 3 bedrooms now and pay $850 Kiss that affordable living shit goodbye, seriously it's purrty here, but you gotta be damn good at your job so you're always employed, otherwise the fear of being priced out will consume you. Tech has driven everything in the Bay Area up, so it's rough. Hold onto your butt!

Planning on going in 2018. Want to see the house where I grew up my first four years, out in La Mesa. Good neighborhood???
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Awww, La Mesa. Yes still a nice area but it's growing fast, lots of malls, lots of new complexes. I think the Administration building is still the tallest building there, I'm not sure there may be a couple new ones that are taller, but not many.

Don't move to the Bay, there's too many people here already. Traffic is a bitch and the drive thru for In-N-Out is getting out of control! jk. But not really. You can move here. But traffic is in fact a bitch. I've been back and forth between the Bay and SoCal my whole life so I feel like I get the best of both worlds. The Bay is extremely diverse which I love. You can find anything and everything here. The food is phenomenal (not sure if that's a requirement for you, but it is for me). Unless you decide to work in the same city you live, you most likely will be commuting. It's common to live at least 30min-1hr away from where you work. A lot of the jobs are located in Oakland, SF, San Ramon (where I work) and San Jose but that's technically not the Bay Area. My favorite city is Walnut Creek. Pricey, but I love the people and the location.
As far as SoCal, I really enjoy Culver City, Baldwin Hills and Cerritos. San Diego as well, my best friend just moved there and it's gorgeous. Either way, we'd love to have you here From now on, 4 U I shall be wild 💜

I'm 26 and still live at home because rent is ridiculous here. Full time job that pays fairly well, but I'm like nope If I only had to pay $850 I would have moved out years ago Unfortunately i'm a Cali girl through and through, moving out of state would be out of the question for me. So I have to suck it or pray I marry rich From now on, 4 U I shall be wild 💜

That's why I don't say anything back, because there's so much that's wrong" - P, Dec '15

San Diego is the spot...but youre gonna pay out the ass for anything in a nice neighborhood...and its the most "Republican" city on the west coast. Very conservative. Near perfect weather year round, but traffic is a bitch....not LA bitchy, but bitchy enough. And hey...you may be paying $2000 a month rent, but you will save on the electric bill compared to what you pay in Texas, what with AC and heat...you wont need it nearly as much out here. And dont worry...you dont have to root for the Padres...the Dodgers are only 2 hours away! [Edited 7/12/16 20:13pm] Make it so, Number One...
