Redd Foxx enough said.

I have a Redd Foxx t shirt I bought several years ago in Atlanta and anytime I wear

that shirt I get compliments from whites whom loved Redd Foxx as a comedian and

actor.

Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Wow, some people are really showing their age, wink
Nah, I'm just teasing. The oldies were the best.
Also, I notice the American orgers are choosing American shows. Which is fair enough, it's what you would know and love the most. BUT, I would advise that anyone, American or otherwise, who has never watched or heard of Only Fools And Horses to check it out. My ex, who is American, had never heard of it but watched it based off my recommendation. Now, he had trouble understanding everything that was being said, didnt know a lot of the slang, but he now regards it as the funniest show he's ever seen. Its one of those shows that started off good and get better and better as it went on.
That's why I like these types of threads. So I can hear of shows and movies I would never hear of otherwise.

Nothing beats Frasier at it's best. I've never laughed so hard as with Ham Radio. And I still enjoy the repeats of Friends, I have to admit.

It's not like they show a lot of British comedy shows on American tv, there are some on cable and PBS but not much compared to American shows. Netflix streams a few. I took to Doc Martin, there are a couple of other new ones I liked and would like to see them get another season but I can't remember the names of the shows right now.

Is The Wire a sitcom?

Because I sure love it.

As a kid I loved Matthew Star, A-team and that car Kit.

I loved Friends because it fitted my age. I watched it with my friends from university.

And I watch detectives to fall asleep. I love Murder, she wrote; Midsommer Murder; Poirot; Commisar Rex etcetera.

I like the Big Bang Theory and Seindfeld, Never bores me.

And of course the Law & Order (all of them)

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

totally right about Sanford And Son

the 1st 3 seasons were amazing right up until Redd Foxx went on strike and when he came back the show was never the same

A lot of the transpondeans are mentioning shows I've never heard of, and some shows I can't stand. Different tastes, but a few that sound maybe worth looking for. Can't stand Only Fools And Horses though! smile

In my original post in this thread I forgot to include what probably is actually my favourite - Still Game.

Another show you should look for if you can is Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Michael Crawford was in it. He played a loveable loser type who couldn't get anything right. Its hilarious looking at everyone he meets completely losing it with him. The show is notable for the very dangerous stunts he used to perform in it and you can tell there was a lot of improv going on as well. Check out some clips on YouTube of the stunts from the show.

Adorecream

Probably the Cosby show, even if its star was as Antonine Dodson said "They rapin' everybody". Despite that the morals in the show and the sense of family unity and pride it show gave us all something to sapire to.

Also Fresh Prince of Bel Air and it was funny too.

I also love the Nanny, I am one of the few people who does not mind Fran Drescher's whiny Jewish voice.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

SMDAE is crap. Every episode's the same.

Alan Partridge was great back in the 1990s. I think Frasier's probably the all-time best though.

I don't consider myself to be young or old. I'll be 26 in April.
Yeah, shows from the 70's and 80's have great theme songs.
