Craig has a wicked sense of humor like a lot of dirty old men his age. I guess its an audience for it. biggrin But he is leaving the end of this year. Word is he is pissed that Letterman's chair wasn't offered to him.

Bieber for some reason I think is hated by the mainstream. Because he chooses to have all black friends. It seems like the media is trying to bring him down and find things on him.

I remember when Bieber first came on to the scene and I remembered thinking to myself how long is it going to be before they start showing Bieber in a different light. In other words, when were they going to have him get tattoos, get arrested and suddenly be surrounded by "thugs" and or black men in general. Fast forward a few years later and now he's covered in tattoos, allegedly abusing sizzurp and he's part of Floyd Mayweather's entourage? I'm not trying to imply that Mayweather is a junkie but I think Bieber's handlers pushed him towards the direction where he's caught up in some really unhealthy stuff.

Now, about that tape that came to surface five years later....TMZ said they had the tape years ago but didn't air it because they didn't want to ruin the kid's career at the time and they had carefully considered what could happen if it were released. So, suddenly a British tabloid gets the tape and airs it out a few days ago? First of all, why was he being taped while saying some pretty racist stuff? Who decided to leak it out and why? I also find it strange that all these black male celebs rushed to Bieber's defense. Maybe they realize how dirty those tabloid shows are and perhaps they were sympathetic but I'm wondering what the motive was for this.

Ok here is the deal. They changed Bieber's image because rumors started circulating that he was g--. It was an incident at this arcade, this dude snuck past security and straight up called Bieber to his face a f----t! Right after that Bieber started "dating" Selena Gomez out of nowhere. Then he changed his hair. It was time for an image overhaul.

That footage of Beiber joking saying the N-word was a deleted scene from Beiber's documentary movie released years ago. They felt it was inappropriate to leave that in the movie. Beiber's team actually tried to find the footage and buy it from TMZ. But it was too late..

Beiber is actually liked by the black community. He has a lot of black girls as fans. I can understand why he would chose blacks to get swag from. I actually like his new image. Plus who would want to turn down hanging with him? He is MEGA rich.. biggrin

I WATCHED THE SHOW and you know what? IT SUCKED!!! I hung in there trying to support Arsenio's corny assed show for three weeks.

IT WAS SO DATED!!! Corny skits, tired jokes, the best part was his interviews.... and half the time the people on the show were there because they knew Arsenio fromback in the day.

In comparison with Jimmy Fallon, who slays them night after night, Arsenio's show lasting one entire season was right on point.

Arsenio was stuck in the 90's with allof his writing and ideas. He couldn't even deliver a joke properly with out giggling at his own joke. confused Throwing his timing off. It was just a dull show to watch, the set was ugly too. That damn gray couch was U-G-L-Y!!!

NOTHING about the show was spectatcular, and I really wanted him to succeed. Still, I believe in Arsenio, and I know he will land on his feet and do better things moving forward. twocents

I hear he still does stand up... I think he's naturally a funny guy in conversation, but his skits were dull. Arsenio should do a reality show, I would watch.

The budget for that show must have been small... everything looked low-budget.

Seems like they didn't invest too much into it. I really don't think that twentysomethings still living at home can write for a personality like Arsenio.

You can tell the budget was small. Who were his writers?

I know J. Anthony Brown was a write during the first show back in the day. De he have anyone on his level this go-around?

Also, is this why the show was cancled?

If you can still view the first episode he introduced the writers. Didn't seem like a good fit but I tried to give the benefit of doubt.

Interesting article. According to the plaintiff Arsenio is lazy and afraid of failure and the producer lied to him. He only has a verbal agreement though....no contract signed.

Who does that in Hollywood? Especially a writer, eek

I wonder if he had writers comparable to In Living Color.

Paul Mooney was the freaking head writer, and Franlyn Ajai another writer. Keenen and Damon. Colin Quinn was also a writer.

Wasn't that sad how they kinda went the el cheapo route and then later cancel the show for so-called budget reasons. I mean, it's not like Arsenio LOST any money for these folks. They made a profit at some point because it's highly unlikely that it was a total, pure loss.

Arsenio Hall Plots Another TV Return – Any Takers?

The host is in early talks to reboot “The Arsenio Hall Show,” his manager tells TheWrap

Is there a chance Arsenio Hall could pull off a third return to television? His manager, John Ferriter, tells TheWrap a three-peat is possible.

“There's been an outpouring of support,” Ferriter says. “We started getting calls over the weekend.”

CBS Television Distribution announced it was pulling the plug on “The Arsenio Hall Show” Friday. Ferriter said other outlets didn't waste any time reaching out and Hall's camp is already in “early talks” to reboot the series.

Unfortunately, TheWrap couldn't find anyone willing to cop to those early talks.

An individual close to the production told TheWrap that E!, OWN and BET were among the media companies courting Hall. But when contacted by TheWrap, two outlets denied that they've reached out to the comedian and his reps.

An E! representative told TheWrap “no,” when asked if the network was interested in working with the comedian. Another individual inside the company said bluntly that Hall is “too old” for E!'s demographic.

A representative for OWN also insisted that the network hadn't reached out to Hall's representatives and OWN has no plans to bring him to their channe

BET representatives didn't immediately respond to TheWrap's request for comment.

Additionally, individuals at CTD close to the production insist that the company hasn't received any interest from other companies to continue “The Arsenio Hall Show” or to buy the rights to the format.

CTD produced “The Arsenio Hall Show” with Tribune Broadcasting and Octagon Entertainment, in which Ferriter is a managing director.

CBS originally renewed the syndicated series for a second season in February with a flashy announcement on the show made by special guest Jay Leno. But following the renewal, the series was downgraded to different timeslots in some markets with more to follow. In New York City, for example, WPIX moved the talk show back a half hour to 11:30 p.m., pushing it for an episode of “Seinfeld.”

CBS said in a statement that the show, which premiered in September, failed to take off.

The show actually premiered with some promise earning a 1.9 in households and 1.0 in the advertiser-coveted Adults 18-49 demographic. But, it couldn't hold on to that audience and over the season it whittled down to a 0.7 rating in households and a 0.3 in the 18-

“Unfortunately, ‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ will not return for a second season; while there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue,” the spokesperson said. “Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we'd like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We'd also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show.”

The syndicated show aired on Tribune's local television stations, including KTLA in Los Angeles. Ferriter insisted CTD and Tribune were great partners.

“I totally understand the decision that was made, but one of the station groups had concerns,” he said.

A CTD insider told TheWrap that when it renewed “Arsenio Hall” for a second season, it was already low-rated. So when the threats started coming in from different stations to move the show to a later timeslot where there would be less viewers, CTD realized that it wouldn't be able to reach the viewership it needed to continue producing the show.

The insider said CBS has no interest in continuing with “The Arsenio Hall Show” at this point.

The show was on hiatus last week when CBS decided it wouldn't be coming back. Ferriter said his main concern was to let the staff know that their run was over.

Hall was naturally disappointed with the cancellation and referred to the timing on Twitter, saying it was an “emotional day” at his office.

Maybe there is a chance to bring him back..

Most of the time I agree you with but in this case, I don't smile I didn't know that he was on the receiving end of some foul language used towards him. However, there is now a second tape of Bieber using the N-word and TMZ is saying that JB's management team were "worried" and they said that they were being extorted and that's the reason they released these tapes to free themselves of the grips of the extortionists. I think that's a load of nonsense.

Tell me, if JB used racial slurs against Jews, he would have been toast and nobody would be sweeping it under the rug as these videos being harmless. Why are black people all of a sudden defending people who use racist language? That's something that makes no sense at all. TMZ is showing these videos of him using the N word but they rush to defend Bieber and then they go on to the next story. Excuse me but since when did it become okay for people to do this and then STILL be embraced by the black community?

First Pete Holmes ... NOW THIS!
Back wasn’t so Beautiful today. Cancellation got real.
By 4:00 PM the office was very, very quiet.
As you can guess, the offices of The Arsenio Hall Show are never quiet.
And I miss every single sound. Diana Steele practicing "Talib Kwali," crunching in Sterling's office, Asa’s copy machine, Eric’s walk, Claudia’s necklaces, ‘dat loud ass elevator adjacent the writers room, Jim’s calves growing (yes, you can hear them), hip hop coming out of accounting, Adrienne’s laugh, Bradshaw’s “copy that." Ooops! I made myself well up. You know me. LOL! (I tried so hard not to write LOL in this.)

I had rapidly created a really good, young late night staff. But here’s the good news…I want, and plan, to work again soon. REAL SOON! . BTW – I want to thank all of you for your support of me and the show. You were there for me,
... and you/we were growing.

Keep tuning in, I have more than 50 Encore episodes on deck. And they are GREAT!
Also, tell a friend.
See you soon.

Okay, how about this for a transition.....why wasn't Bieber on the Arsenio Hall show? I agree with you that TMZ is out to ruin him but it's very subtle. They pretend to defend him but behind the scenes they are ripping him apart. Sounds like they are the true extortionists. As far as Arsenio goes, maybe the show was canceled due to them not being able to reach an agreement. Maybe Arsenio wanted more A-list folks but wasn't able to get as many as he could have. I think the point here is that there are forces that we don't see that orchestrate stuff behind the scenes and we never know who they are. They are the powerbrokers who can ruin people just for sport.

TV Guide: ‘Why The Arsenio Hall Show Was Cancelled’

Jun 10, 14 by EURPublisher01

Prince_Arsenio_Hall_Show_Interview

*TVGuide.com’s Michael Schneider is offe...me context to the sudden reverse decision of CBS Television Distribution to cancel “The Arsenio Hall Show” after it had initially announced its renewal.

Schneider writes:

Arsenio Hall was supposed to spend the week of June 2 in New York City, touting the upcoming second season of his late-night talk show on The View, Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show and Late Show with David Letterman. Instead, he was in Los Angeles, packing up boxes, bidding adieu to his staff and sharing via social media his disappointment over his show’s cancellation.

“I dreamed that they picked up my show for Season 2, then changed their minds and canceled the show,” he tweeted to Magic Johnson. “Had to be a dream.”

Indeed, despite renewing The Arsenio Hall Show in February, CBS Television Distribution surprised Hall and his staff at the end of May by reversing course and canceling the show.

Arsenio was on a scheduled break when the decision came down, which means Hall didn’t get a chance to produce a farewell show.

“Most of my team went on vacation after celebrating our 2nd year pick up…and returned to cancellation,” he tweeted.

Fans were dismayed, and Hall’s exit strikes a blow for diversity in late night.
“In my five years in the cast of a network comedy, Arsenio Hall and George Lopez were the only late night talk shows couches I was welcomed to,” Community star Yvette Nicole Brown tweeted. What happened?

1. Arsenio was losing its time slots. Tribune Broadcasting was a partner in the show, but when even its flagship New York station, WPIX, moved Arsenio from 11 to 11:30, it was clear others would follow. The real blow came when CBS got word that one of the nation’s largest local station operators, Sinclair Broadcast Group, was set to downgrade Arsenio out of the 11pm—midnight period. Insiders say CBS then crunched the numbers and realized advertising revenue would take a huge hit.

2. The audience just wasn’t there. After opening strong, Arsenio dropped 60 percent in the key demo of viewers ages 18-49. “You can’t be the fourth choice out there,” a show insider says. CBS Television Distribution said in a statement, “While there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue.”

3. It needed a new showrunner. Executive producer Neal Kendall exited soon after the show premiered and was never replaced; CBS executive Eric Pankowski ran things in the interim. The studio had planned to hire a showrunner with a strong comedy background, but execs opted not to spend the money necessary to bring in a new production team.

4. It was struggling creatively. Insiders always believed it would take at least a year for Hall to get comfortable. Arsenio made big waves with such episodes as the one devoted to Prince, but it struggled to book other big-name guests.

5. Failure is the nature of syndication. Syndicated shows are subject to the whims of stations that want quick results and have itchy trigger fingers. (WPIX wasted no time replacing Arsenio with Seinfeld repeats.) There’s a reason there hasn’t been a major syndicated late-night talk show in years. In a bit of irony, the most recent one that worked was the original Arsenio Hall Show, which was squeezed off the air in 1994, more than five years after its history-making launch. John Ferriter, Hall’s current executive producer, tells us he’s talking to Hall about what the host would like to do next, including whether to pursue a new home for his show. But for now, the Dog Pound is closed.

Thanks for posting this. By the way, what's a showrunner?

It sounds like they set him up for failure.

Trolls be gone!

A person that is in control of the day to day operations of a show. Making sure it is delivered on time. Also within the budget. Its a very stressful job! His show's executive producer Neal had exited. He ws acting as the showrunner...
