Why the hate? I did not care for the show (even when P was on it).
So i do not watch it. But I would have liked it to keep going! I like it when people are successful.

Let's face it. The show sucked. I like Arsenio but I think he just did not have the right people around him.
I was also thinking that he didn't have the right people either. It seems that they hired sub-par writers who probably rejected or changes some ideas that Arsenio may have had. I think Arsenio was staying in his lane too much and they controlled him big time. [Edited 5/31/14 11:10am] Trolls be gone! |

They were counting on his earlier ratings...maybe they didn't realize that his audience is older now and need to get to bed by 10...
Something about Arsenio rubs me wrong...he's faker than those girls that Alexander O'Neal sang about.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind. |

No hate at all. Arsenio knows his show had no edge. He was afraid and took no chances. He also could not get the big guests. He got on a lot of obscure people who were boring interviews. He also had on gospel music, not exactly a way to get a young audience.

I think the only thing phony about the show was the studio audience. It seems that night after night, the audience members would seem to overreact about everything. It's hard to put into words but I think they used actors to fill seats most of the time. Trolls be gone! |

That is totally false! The audience members were not hired actors. I have been to several Arsenio tapings. Although some may be actors(because its filmed in the heart of Hollywood) they're not hired. Every audience show the audience is coached into clapping & applauding & to act enthusiastic.
Who would want to host a show with the audience sitting like zombies?
But I will say that on the special "Prince" episode. Most were hired actors that were given questions to ask Prince. Also on the fake relationship segment that Prince was apart of. Other than that everything else was real.. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! Okay thanks for clearing that up I noticed how it seemed that the audience was all over the top with things but from what you're saying, I guess they were just everyday folks. How did you find out that many of the audience members during Prince's performance were fakes? When they were asking questions, I wondered if they were actors. I think I read that someone from the Org got to ask Prince a question. But, the others did seem a bit rehearsed Trolls be gone! |

I didn't say many of the audience members. I said most that were asking Prince questions were. I know the difference between a real Prince fan & a hired actor given a fake question. But Arsenio's studio is very very small and can only hold barely 200. The Prince audience consisted of majority real fans, celebrity guest list & Prince's list. But on a regular show most of the audience is real besides a hired person placed in the audience to communicate with Arsenio in a segment.

Probably Jimmy Kimmel, right?

Preach! The show didn't suck because he didn't get big name A list stars on his show, it sucked because Arsenio's interviewing style was stuck in 1993. And yes, he came off fake as hell in many of those interviews. And let's not get started on those bland and boring monologues. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. |

I love Arsenio Hall. He had guests on his show that you won't see on other shows...it's the same reason I loved Sinbad. Funny how some people are given time to build a following and some not.
Who the hell knew who Jimmy Kimmel was before his show aired? I wouldn't say he's funnier than Arsenio either but I don't see his show getting cancelled anytime soon.
I think that the writers were not a good fit for him because the skits were stupid and the format of the show didn't seem to reflect him but he tried to make it work anyway.
I can think of a dozen worse shows off the top of my head.

Compare it to his original first season. HE had a big guest on here and there. PRINCE: Always and Forever

I'm inclined to think so too because I have never heard of a network making a public announcement about renewing a show and then suddenly change their mind afterward?
They even had Jay Leno make a special appearance to do it.

I remember watching that episode and thinking wow this is great they are giving him a chance. I thought it was kind of weird that they had Leno do it (I finally figured out it wasn't George Lopez as I thought LOL) I think Arsenio should file a lawsuit against the production company (which is run by CBS, you know, Colbert's future home) Maybe they just jacked with Arsenio's emotions but maybe he'll picked up by a different network. I think some individuals within the TPTB weren't happy about Arsenio & Suge Knight calling out NBC's Brian Williams for the story about late night show hosts while forgetting to mention the lone black host (Arsenio) in late night.
I didn't think of that....I was wondering if the Mooney incident had something to do with it?
I hope Oprah or TVOne steps in and does the right thing.
The Paul Mooney controversy might have been the last straw. |
