pig pig pig / 5

Interesting social commentary and the paths we take or laid out for us. There is a really good movie in there somewhere, and I would have given it another pig if it was 30mins shorter.

American Hustle

3/5

long and convoluted

the only good thing in this was Jennifer Lawrence's character, the loose cannon lol I don't normally like her sulky face but she made me laugh many times.

I haven't seen My Neighbor Totoro in its entirety. I've been waiting to watch it with my niece. I should just watch it by myself in the original Japanese audio.

I gave this movie to the little girl I walk to school.

She watched it with her family and the next day her dad wanted to talk to me about it!!

He said "what a strange film! It was almost kind of boring but we all wanted to see what would happen next, it was so unpredictable!"

HOOKED on Ghibli I say!!!! I gave them Ponyo next.

I gave it the same rating. It felt very genuine to me. Many movies, even dramas, are a stretch in believability to make them more interesting, but this one seems like it could have all really happened, right down to the dialogue.

Ok, relies too much on effects. Characters not endearing.

300: Rise of Empire.

Disappointing. Leaned heavily on the first one, but otherwise ignored everything that made the first one so good. This is the same war, except we are now doing naval battles against Xerxes and the Persian navy.

Typical summer dreck is all this adds up to. Why it was released now, dunno

There was a day when, despite the impressive effects, this would have been straight to video.

2 out of 5, I expected a lot more. The only reason I gave it 2 was there were quite a few titties for viewing pleasure.

Thor: Dark World

I guessed the dark elf was Christopher Eccleston just from the voice! Ha! The kids didn't believe me.

3/5 I like Kat Denning in the Thor movies, it's nice they just let her be Max from 2 Broke Girls in all the movies she is in! lol

You liked it more than I did. Lol I didn't recognize her but I knew I'd seen her somewhere. I never watched the show but saw the endless ads. Hazard of watching sports for 12 hours a day.

lol Her Max character is horrible and wonderful at the same time.

I like the Thor movies better than some of the other Avenger ones probably because there is more spaceships and aliens in them. I am not crazy about Chris Hemsworth though ill

I enjoyed the Avengers movie a lot, but have not liked a single individual character's movie. Thor, twice; Iron Man, thrice; Hulk, twice; Captain America, once. Liked none of that group.

I didn't like any of the others much. Avengers was OK... Actually I did like the hulk movie, but now it doesn't match rolleyes I don't like the current hulk actor, he seems shifty to me.

Non-Stop currently in theaters with Liam Neeson. An attempt to capitalize on movies like Taken with Liam that were box office gold. It was just average to me. I like unpredictability and it had a "high quotient" in that category, but still felt it lacked something. They were smart to include Lupita in the trailers on the success of her awards season run, but she was severely under utilized in this film, but it was just a bit part anyway. I'd say C, or 2.5 out of 5

Blue Jasmine 6.5 / 10

Typical Woody movie. Didn't think ending was great. Kate was worthy of the best actress win.

The Place Beyond the Pines. star star 1/2

Not a fan of Ryan Gosling but he was pretty good in the first hour of the movie. I loved Bradley Cooper (as I always do) but the plot was pretty weak.

Old School (2003)

Everyone looked so young in this!
Luke Wilson has no charisma. Ferrel is in Elf character!
One laugh out loud scene, but lame otherwise. Vince Vaughn is going on my shitlist.

Non-Stop as well. Utterly ludicrous...but then I knew that going into it, so it's hardly aiming for an Oscar!

That said, Liam Neeson is definitely someone you'd want sitting next to you in a crisis. More than Adam Sandler anyway.

3/5 and I'm being generous. The ending was both unbelievable and reeked of cheese.

I'd give it a perfect rating except I felt some scenes were uncomfortable because of what could be interpreted as an absurd premise--which I'm sure was intentional. star star star star 1/2 (out of five)

So is this film, like, a longer version of the video for Kate Bush's 'Deeper Understanding'??
