Movies that show that - when it comes to love - persistence pays off?

Of course, I don't believe in this. lol

But I'm looking for examples of films wherein the protagonist (or anyone else, for that matter) wins the heart of their beloved (or wins them back) through sheer, dogged persistence.

I know many here are film buffs, so I put it to you orgGDfolk!

Thanks, everybody! Keep 'em coming! And let's add "or wins them back through persistence".

Movies of more recent vintage ('80s and after) are especially welcome!

Bitter Moon.

She gets him back.

But I don't know if the occassion suits that kind of genre.

Fantastic film.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

He's Just Not That Into You

This thread really could be renamed "sappy romance movies with unrealistic endings". I have a long list for that.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I honestly don't really remember any. I thought of the tv show Monique, when in the end she finally got her man, which kind of made me roll my eyes, but movies I drew a blank.

I saw this one within the past year Tuff Turf

I think it comes close to persistance in love ends up getting the girl and it's was a '85 movie, but there were other obstacles and so bad stuff happened first, so it's not exactly an innocent movie.

The movie, The Warriors. eek

Now wait a minute. The Warriors is a action movie but it does have a romantic aspect as well.

The character Mercy has a thing for Swan but since Mercy is kinda loose, Swan ain't really feeling her. Mercy keeps on pursuing Swan and while on their perilous journey(chased by deadly gangs) from the Bronx to Coney Island Swan, then starts to develope "feelings" for Mercy.

Having been chased by almost every gang in New York and having made it home alive, Swan starts reflecting on his life and what he's been thru and seemingly comes to the conclusion that like everyone else, he needs love.

When the Warriors are on the subway and the prom chick drops her corsage, Swan picks it up and gives it to Mercy cry

The End.

P.S. im not sure if the thing between Swan and Mercy was love or not. For all i know it could have just been good ol fashioned lust.

May I ask why you want to know? Are you trying to court someone and want outlandish ideas?

Here's a couple of my faves:

Cinema Paradiso (GREAT movie!)
