Yum! Horseburgers. Ireland: Horsemeat found in supermarket burgersIrish regulator finds horsemeat in supermarket burgers; U.K.-based Tesco apologizesLONDON (AP) -- The Irish food safety watchdog says that it has found traces of horse DNA in burger products sold by some of the country's biggest supermarkets, including a burger sold by global retailer Tesco that authorities said was made of roughly 30 percent horse.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland also said Tuesday that it had found traces of pig DNA in 85 percent of the burger products it tested in Irish supermarkets, including those operated by U.K-based Iceland and German discounter Lidl.
The watchdog says the unusual animal DNA in Ireland's burgers isn't a threat to anyone's health but does "raise some concerns."
U.K.-based Tesco apologized for the horsemeat-heavy burger and said it was pulling Tesco-brand burgers from British and Irish supermarkets as a precaution.

Don't feel sorry for horses. I am against any animals being eaten but horses are the douches of the animal kingdom.
Plus horses are really, really delicious. Horse steaks, exquisite. Horse pot roast, yummmm.
Man don't you feel like a horse kabob right now?
(I'm serious, this is really causing a buzz among the bovines right now. And the horses are looking so nervous.) Eat Mor Horses

Ride 'em, race 'em, bet on 'em, use them to pull wagons, buggies and farm equipment, teach them how to do little dances, almost always under the power of the whip, but ON NO! Don't eat 'em! Humans make me laugh.

Because, as I mentioned above, humans have found ways to bond with them, give them false sentience and intelligence far above reality. Honestly, there is no reason to not eat them. They're meat, just like every other large, fleshy animal. But little kids at the fair would freak out about the "horsey" being dinner.

not even 100 yrs ago horses were a vital part of everyday life. no one went anyone without a horse, no cars.
now, they are no longer forced to cart us here and there. it's odd how an animal so treasured once can become overlooked in a matter of a few years..
that being said, i ate raw horse in japan. someone else 'treated' me to it..

Burger King Horsemeat: Ch...To Scandal
LONDON — Burger King says it has stopped buying beef from an Irish supplier whose patties in Britain and Ireland were found to contain traces of horsemeat.
The fast food chain said in a statement that it had dropped Silvercrest Foods as a supplier for its U.K. and Ireland restaurants as a "voluntary and precautionary measure."
Last week Silvercrest shut down its production line and recalled 10 million burgers from supermarket shelves in Britain and Ireland after horse DNA was found in some beef products.
Products from another Irish firm and one in Britain also were contaminated.
Irish food officials say an ingredient imported from an unspecified European country is the likely culprit.
Officials say there is no risk to human health, but the episode has raised food security concerns. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Also tried crocodile, kangaroo, Emu, ostrich & erm, human when I burnt my own finger on the grill Think I might've eaten cat when I had a dodgy gyros in Turkey years ago. It was truely bowfin!!

Giddy Up! What is the issue? Meat is meat. I would eat a horse or anything really. As long as they were clean. Eating a pig or lobster or catfish is was more of an issue and I eat them anytime i can. We have an emotional attachement to horses and dogs... but in the pot or on a bun... meat is meat. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

I'm starting to see horse steaks turn up in the fancy grocery stores here. Don't know if I'd try it though. I've eaten ostrich steaks before which are DIVINE . How omething can have the texture of a cheicken breast but the color and taste of a steak is beyond me but DAMN they are delicious. With the horsies I think I would be too nostalic about Mr. Ed or something and would want to eat them
