I'm going to visit NYC in 2 weeks time. Any tips ?

Hi !

As I'm going to NYC for the first time, I was wondering if somebody's got any tips what to see and what not, where to eat, where not.

And then I don't mean the obvious things, but the less expectd things, the hidden gems, surprises etc.

Thanx & curious what u come up with. biggrin

Any Prince related sites/things are welcome as well!

Im from there and drawn a blank lol.

depends on what you like though to be honest.

Times Square has everything u could want.

Find a good record store to go to there are a couple good ones in Manhattan if u like vinyl.

Greenwich Village is amazing just hanging out.

Take the Staten Island Ferry for fun, its FREE!

Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty and all.

Lots of historic places u will not have enough time to do everything.

Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

1)Bring mace. There's no telling what dark alley cborgman could turn up from.

2)It's NYC, unless you're travelling there for a specific Prince gig, there's way too much to see to be concerned with her majesty. wink

I would think that being your first visit, you'll want to hit all the usual "tourist traps"...I suggest you do some online research as to optimum times to visit them (the Empire State building, for example, is better to visit at night unless you enjoy waiting on long lines).

Skip on climbing to the top of the Statue of Liberty. Not worth the aggravation. hmph!

Also check out the GO pass for NYC. You can save yourself ALOT of money. nod

I ordered the NY Pass. Thanx for that.

I've been in NYC a half year ago, but only very brief; 7-8 hrs after I visited a supplier in Jersey.
Walked on Broadway, visited the financial district, ground zero, the Empire State, 5th ave. and Time Square

I'm in NYC for 6 days/ 5 nights.

As I said, I would like to avoid the tourist traps as much as possible.

I'll be staying downtown Manhattan (SoHo)

Plans so far:

- Cross the Brooklyn Bridge on foot
- Visit Strawberry Fields in Central Park

- Spend some time in Battery Park

- Have dinner on the other side of the Hudson (Probably Son Cubano in Hoboken or Fleming's Steakhouse in Edgewater)

- Museum of Natural History

- Go to a late night with Jimmy Fallon show.

If you enjoy drinking and like Mexican food...I recommend MAYAHUEL. The food is amazing and the drinks are out-of-this-world. It's a cozy little place that's definitely not "tourist-y".

Have fun!!!
