1)Bring mace. There's no telling what dark alley cborgman could turn up from. 2)It's NYC, unless you're travelling there for a specific Prince gig, there's way too much to see to be concerned with her majesty.

I would think that being your first visit, you'll want to hit all the usual "tourist traps"...I suggest you do some online research as to optimum times to visit them (the Empire State building, for example, is better to visit at night unless you enjoy waiting on long lines).
Skip on climbing to the top of the Statue of Liberty. Not worth the aggravation.
Also check out the GO pass for NYC. You can save yourself ALOT of money. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

I ordered the NY Pass. Thanx for that. I've been in NYC a half year ago, but only very brief; 7-8 hrs after I visited a supplier in Jersey.
I'm in NYC for 6 days/ 5 nights. As I said, I would like to avoid the tourist traps as much as possible. Plans so far:
- Cross the Brooklyn Bridge on foot - Spend some time in Battery Park - Have dinner on the other side of the Hudson (Probably Son Cubano in Hoboken or Fleming's Steakhouse in Edgewater) - Museum of Natural History - Go to a late night with Jimmy Fallon show.

If you enjoy drinking and like Mexican food...I recommend MAYAHUEL. The food is amazing and the drinks are out-of-this-world. It's a cozy little place that's definitely not "tourist-y".
Have fun!!! By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!
