I dig his character more now than I did when the show was airing. He got on my nerves a bit back then. Not near as much as Chakotay, though. They should have killed that character off when the actor starting talking shit about the show while he was still on it. He clearly didn't want to be there, anyway.

Some interesting points people have made about some of the other Voyager characters. Made me laugh. lol Funny thing is, the one who seemd the most out of place to me was Harry Kim, and nobody else mentioned him. He was like, the Wesley Crusher of Voyager. lol

Quark! Yeah, great character. He was one that I think deserved to be part of a Next Gen/DS9 crossover movie. Would have been great to have some big screen Ferengi action.

babynoz, that's a very valid point about DS9, one that I often forget. I never missed an episode of that show. Well... maybe one or two. But back then the channel that carried Star Trek here replayed the prior season of all the shows as soon as they ended. So whatever it was, TNG, DS9 or Voyager, they were on 52 weeks a year. If I'd started watching DS9 in the middle of pretty much any season I could see where it would be hard to understand what was going on at first. They definitely kept a forward moving, linear storytelling mode through about 3/4 of that show.

I guess the difference between Wesley and Harry is that Harry is mostly forgettable, whereas Wesley is offensively bad

Plus, of all star trek uniforms, his is the worst.

I am trying to watch DS9 on Netflix now. I just watched the pilot, and was kind of meh. So I tricked myself and skipped ahead to an episode I've already seen where they go back to the old Enterprise with the Tribbles, just to see if it would draw me in.

we'll see. I don't really like Sisqo, and that makes it tough.

I agree the pilot is meh. But the Tribble episode is not at all representative of DS9 as a whole. It's part of the 1/4 of their episodes I mentioned above that were not part of the overall forward moving, linear storyline.

If you REALLY want to get the full affect of DS9 you've got to slog through the first couple seasons, because there are plot points and character traits that start in those seasons and continue (or change and wouldn't make any sense if you skipped them) through the entire series (even the pilot relates to the end of the series). Personally, I don't think they're as hard to get through as the first couple seasons of TNG. But like TNG, it did take a while for them to get everything just right.

First of all, maaaan! There is just no argument for his uniform. That grey mess they had him wearing before he entered the Academy was just awful.

Regarding your other point, crazy as it is, I'm not a Wesley Crusher hater. I didn't even realize people hated Wesley Crusher until after the show was off the air. lol Yes, he's sometimes annoying. But I actually like that he was some next level, unexplainable being. And I always get a laugh out of the fact that instead of killing him to make fans happy, they wrote him off the show by making him a near all-powerfull super being who could travel through space with the power of his mind. lol

On a side note, he rarely returns in the books, either. Only a few times that I can think of, and he doesn't do any random 'Wesley Crusher saves the day!' stuff in them. They just didn't know what to do with that kid.

I've seen plenty of DS9, but for some reason I just didn't get into it. But then, I did get into Voyager despite not thinking it was great...hell I don't think ANY of Star Trek is particularly great but I still like it! So maybe there is hope for DS9.

I'd like to like it, because I have re-watched TNG and TOS in their entirety a couple times recently, and am not about to do it again any time soon.

I didn't hate him the first time around, but his performance has worn very thin with each viewing.

And on a related note, I hated the traveller, too! They can both go travel far the hell away from me and I'll be fine with that!

TNG & DS9 are the only ones i actually watched all the way through.

Thr original is way silly and i couldn't get through a ton of it. Voyager is pretty good but never finished it...

James Avery as Captain Sisko is so underrated! he gave an amazing performance in all 7 seasons of DS9.

Who? Me? Crazy!? Naaaaah! lol

Truthfully, a few years ago I ripped my entire DS9 DVD set so that each episode is about 400 MB and burned my favorites onto ten data DVDs. The season sets only have four episodes per disc and they go back to the menu after each one. Totally annoying. The way I did it I could put in a disc, fall asleep and it would still be playing the next morning. lol I think that I burned around 98 episodes that way, and the titles for each were written on the discs. All I had to do was copy those into a post here, then go through the DS9 Wiki episode guide and add in the important ones that aren't my favorites. Didn't take nearly as long as you'd think.

So I am through Season 2 and into Season 3.

I was using your list, but found myself a bit bored in Season 2, so I skipped a few extra to get to the cliffhanger at the end of Season 2. Now I am kind of hooked with the first episode of Season 3. We'll see if it sustains my interest, but I assume it will if I have come this far.

I still don't love any one character, but a few are decent. Kira is not really working for me. I still find the politics of the show to be less than engaging. That's the reason I didn't like it in the first place. Too much lizard-head politics and not enough ideas. I don't like Cardassians, I don't like Bajorans, I don't like Ferengi (though I do like Quark) I don't love Sisko, but he is growing on me a bit. Dax is sexy.

I do appreciate your guide. I might not have gotten this far without it.

that's a tuffy.. but okay, I'll try

1 TOS: I know it's awfully bad when looking at it today but hey that's my childhood. so no choice, I have to put it on top

2 TNG: best cast from all follow-ups, also best stand out episodes, best cliffhangers, and most consitent build-up over 7 seasons

3 ENT: pushing against the flow here, and I admit I didn't see everything from season 3, but season 4 alone puts it easily ahead of VOY and DS9. too bad it was cancelled, considering that TNG also took a few seasons to get its feet off the ground.

4 DS9/VOY: liked both but too many episodes felt kind flat for me

As far as TNG, I always hated Q and Borg episodes. I thought they were boring and silly storylines aside from the entire show's finale.

I much prefer an episode like "The Lower Decks" or that one where Picard lives an entire lifetime when he's zapped by that thing.

Just like with X-Files, I hated all the episodes that featured their ongoing NONstory with the stupid "smoking man" character. Again, it was silly shit, and bored me. I preferred the episodes that were one off monters or situation. Their main alien story was so boring and unbaked.
