You'll be hearing more and more about this one. It's definetely one that demands recognition, and when you see it you'll know why. It's just that fresh and rich and relevant.

Take This Waltz (2011) - A happily married woman falls for the artist who lives across the street.

The topic of infidelity has been covered a zillion times in film, but this movie in particular really resonated with me mostly due to Michelle Williams' wonderful portrayal of the equally frustrating and adorable Margot. Credit should also be given to director Sarah Polley who makes the backdrop of Toronto look like the second most romantic city in the world after Paris. The only weaknesses were Margot's hokey phobia and Seth Rogan's big dramatic scene which I don't think he pulled off. Despite that, I'm still giving this a very high 1/2 (out of five). Loved it.

Not as excellent as Away from Her, but still very good. Sarah Polley is 2 for 2 as a director.

Les adieux à la reine / Farewell, My Queen (2012) - A look at the relationship between Marie Antoinette and one of her readers during the first days of the French Revolution.

I liked the ominous tone throughout the film. Everyone knows what's coming, it's just a matter of when and that sense of dread had me on the edge of my seat a bit. Plus beautiful women strutting around in corsets speaking French are my own personal catnip so I'm going to overrate this one slightly at

"In Bruges" with Colin Farrell and some English guys.

I didn't like it. My son made me watch it. There were no characters in the movie that were likeable.

That movie is great. I like watching it during Christmastime. Wonderfully irreverent. Five stars.

Fish Tank (2009) - Everything changes for 15-year-old Mia when her mum brings home a new boyfriend.

Another excellent performance by Michael Fassbender.

I didn't know beforehand that director Andrea Arnold also did Red Road which I loved.

Um, sexton, I asked you a question in the other thread, I don't know if you didn't see it or just ignoring it, it's sometimes hard to tell around this place. About a movie you posted a few months back that I have no idea what the name is.

I'm a HUGE Two Face fan, so the fact that he had less than 10 minutes at the end of the last movie and 2 minutes in this one upset me a bit. He's a great Batman villian, so he really deserved more screen time than he got IMHO. Annoyed me a bit to see him written off soo easily but other than that indiscretion, the movie was exceptional.

This movie looks awesome, but don#t think it's distributed worldwide yet?!

This was just average. It says comedy, but it's more a drama. 2/5 stars

French Thriller "Anything 4 Her" : Very good! 3,5 stars!

This was a very slow thriller. Badly acted, just watched yesterday. Channing Tatum sucked! 2/5

Hah. it's kinda cosmic to see someone asking you this question. Just the other day I was trying to remember a movie we briefly discussed quite some time back. I couldn't remember the title and was going to send you a note asking if you could remember the name, but I was quite certain you compared it to 'the cement garden' & was able to find the thread by doing an org search for that term. The movie was 'dogtooth' - still haven't watched it, but I'm going to try to track it down this weekend.

since it's summer, I gave Piranha 3D a try

It's a very good documentary, but seeing it in 3D at the cinema was spectacular. I wonder if a normal 2D viewing at home affects its appeal at all.

I never liked that name that much to be honest. But the more common name of "sexton" was always taken on sites on which I registered. Except this one I found out recently. So I dropped it.

Sexton was a character in Neil Gaiman's excellent book, Death: The High Cost of Living. It made a big impression on me the first time I read it. Now I can properly acknowledge it with my orgname without the extra stuff tacked onto the end.

Yeah, they didn't really do the character justice in this Batman series IMO. I've always loved the complexity that is Two-Face. The idea that a man can be a do-gooder and a evil-doer all in one person has always intrigued me because it's true of all people in the world. Everybody has a good side and a bad side and for Two-Face/Harvey Dent it wasn't just shown as an internal battle but an external one also by the two dramatically different sides of his appearnce. One side handsome and the other grotesque and the split personalities feuding with each other inside one body. Through all that internal struggle, there was always one common agreeance...justice must be served at all costs; and, how that justice came to pass was determined by the mere flip of a coin. The idea that a two-headed coin (one side perfect and the other hideously scratched) was the ultimate judgment call for Two-Face and showed a sadistic fairness to him. Sad his screen time was cheapened to a few short scenes but I think Christopher Nolan did a fantastic take on the Batman Series as a whole. I really wanted him to have Harley Quinn in the previous film too but she's a pretty new character to the Batman series...she's my fave Batman villianess by far. Either way, the series was done wonderfully but I still loved Tommy Lee Jones' performance as Two-Face in 'Batman Forever'. All just my

Insightful analysis. I liked your conclusion that it was more an external rather than internal battle. Very nice

I also thought that they were treating the audience a tad stupid, with the repeated remarks from Dent 'I don't trust your office'. It just didn't feel ironic when he was betrayed by the office at the end, the foreshadowement did not work. But even so, the dinner talk regading julius ceaser, was great. 'You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villian'.

I'd love your take on Avengers, BB and TDKR in comparison to the unmatched Dark Knight. I really think Nolan did the impossible with regards to Comic adaptations. It was a well-acted film, with a thorough plot, good vilains, directing, & tone which I have yet to see in other adapations. Really a one off.
