This movie was a little too hip for me, but I liked the music and the name "Knives Chao." And I appreciated the creativity, so I would give it a 4/5. I would have loved it when I was younger.

If by hip you mean music that make old people wince, then yes grandpa (I actually enjoyed the actual soundtrack but The live band sequences = dead )

That movie definitely made me feel middle-aged. I thought it was fine, but it got a little same-y for me after a while. I'd probably give it a 3.

I found the drummer far more appealing than the messenger girl (or whatever she was) and would have liked to have seen more of that character.

A Mexican movie in English called 'from Prada to Nada' its a romantic, feel good movie. I only watched it because I girl I went to school has a small speaking part in it! I'd give it a 6.5 but I'm a hard marker!

The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988) - In 1968, a Czech doctor with an active sex life meets a woman who wants monogamy, and then the Soviet invasion further disrupts their lives.

It was wild seeing such a young Juliette Binoche, but at almost three hours long, I found it a bit tedious. There was already a strike against it because all the Czech characters were speaking to each other in English. That always annoys me in movies. star star 1/2

The Unbearable Lengthness of Film

This turned out to be one of my favorite books, but man I could not sit through this thing, despite loving the two leads. That was years ago, now, I am curious if I would like it any more today hmmm

There's a lot of nudity. That's always good. smile I watched the making-of featurette which said the scene with the Russian tanks invading Prague was actual footage from the Warsaw Pact invasion from 1968. I thought that was very cool.

2 Days in New York (2012) - Manhattan couple Marion and Mingus, who each have children from prior relationships, find their comfortable family dynamic jostled by a visit from Marion's relatives.

Less hilarious and more ridiculous than 2 Days in Paris, but still very funny. star star star 1/2

I'll have to check those out, I was a fan of the Before Sunrise/Sunset movies, and have a little crush on Julie Deply

Death Wish

I sat down to watch this as a big of 80's gung-ho....but was pleasently surprised.

It is far from a work of art but it forces you to ask questions about the morality of vigilantism from both sides of the argument and what can drive a man beyond his breaking point.

Jeff Goldblum as a young huldlum at the start of the film is very over the top but the film itself seems to stay away from sensationalisms.

I will not be searching out the sequels (funny feeling that they won't be up there with "Godfather2" or "Empire")

But overall, I'll give it star star star 1/2

Were you shocked that souls could sell for as little as $5,000 these days? I thought for sure Vincent Gallo would have paid more lol

Face 3/5 Unfortunately I couldn't get the closed captioning to work on my set and the DVD had no subtitles so I missed some parts of the movie, but I got the gist of it well enough. The whole shootout scene in the middle of a public British street was very weird looking let alone at the police station, but still an okay movie.

Ladies In Lavender (2004) - two sisters get into a childish fight over a young boy they find swept up on the beach. terrific performances from the dames, but then you get an even more beautiful, almost dream-like presence from Daniel Bruhl. 3/5

You are spoiling the movie! hammer lol

I'm guessing because Marion was a relative nobody in the art world, her agent did not want to price her soul too high. And then when there were no buyers early on, they panicked and lowered the price to $5,000. hmmm

Edit: My personal Vincent Gallo story--I followed him into a PJ Harvey gig awhile back (this was after they had broken up so he was with some model) and from the floor, I could see him in his VIP box. The dude did not clap once the entire night. confused So he seems like the type of person to buy a soul for as cheap as he could get it. lol

To Rome with Love (2012) - The lives of some visitors and residents of Rome and the romances, adventures and predicaments they get into.

I kept waiting for an explanation for all the zany scenarios, but never got one. Which I suppose in itself is very funny. lol However, I can't really recommend this film. Although Rome did look lovely. star star

Couple of lame movies that I watched the other night:

True Crime/Thriller Clint Eastwood - Can an over-the-hill journalist uncover the evidence that can prove a death row inmate's innocence just hours before his execution?

This was lame for me 2/5

A bitter sweet life /Thriller Sth. Korea - Interesting cinematoprahpy/dialogues and acting, not so much of an action movie, which was great for that kinda movie, but the story wasn't too overwhelming. 3/5

Made of Honor/Romcom - A guy in love with an engaged woman tries to win her over after she asks him to be her maid of honor.

Overall the usal bullshit, so I rate this 2/5 boring

Yes, I struggled with that myself - boo to netflix streaming for not have a subtitles option on this one. I was initially going to give it a lower rating or not rate it at all, because can you really say you unreservedly enjoyed a movie when you couldn't make out 20% of the dialogue? However, I'm pretty sure I grasped all the plot points and the movie made me lol quite a few times, so I'm pretty secure in my 4.5 grade.

Been to see it again today. Not seen a film twice at the cinema this millenium. That's as big a compliment as i can give it. Still bloody great and my Mrs loved it too. Forget the Stallone debacle, this is the real deal and Karl Urban IS Joe Dredd.

I'd go as far to say i enjoyed it far more than Dark Knight Rises. Seriously.
