I knew he was going to end up in LA after the Nets gave up on him. There really wasn't any other option. The best thing I can say about this is that if he signs a long term extension and it doesn't work out the Lakers will trade his ass. They don't have to hold on to superstars like Orlando does because they will get another one sooner or later.

Lakers are still weak with their perimeter defense. That's where OKC killed them.

Where's the upside in this trade for Orlando? The Nets offer was much better. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Lakers perimeter defense weak? Nah. Average maybe. It will definitely be better than last year with the changes they've made to their roster (which aren't just Howard and Nash). Plus, it will be better by default with Dwight and Pau in there blocking up the middle. Teams will be forced to take more outside shots and the Lakers will know that ahead of time. Unless their opponents shoot the lights out the Lakers will have a better defense (statistically) next season.

The upside for Orlando is they have no salary and a huge number of draft picks. They decided to rebuild and are set up better than most teams will ever be to do it the right way. There doesn't seem to be many complaints in regards to what they got out of this deal. Philly and Denver are happy, too.

Star players are going to play where they want to play. Nothing the commissioner or the league does will ever change that.

Star players are always going to choose to play in the same few cities they've always played in. This will never change.

Chicago doesn't exactly have a shitty basketball history, or present. What they got this year is what they were willing to spend or trade for. You'll make the playoffs and anything can happen at that point.

If Bynum can get his shit straight, Philly will do nicely with him as the focal point on offense. You could say he's the best big man in the east. It'll be interesting to see how he meshes with the coach. Collins can be intense at times.

With a healthy Rose, Bulls can play with anyone. But they have to get him some more offensive help. Kirk Hinrich - is that the best the front office can do?
