If Gasol stays, he will flourish playing alongside Steve Nash. Nash will get him the ball in the right spot. | |

I think it was two people - Rajon Rondo and Danny Ainge. I kept hearing Boston tried trading him before the deadline. And Rondo seems to tick off his teammates and coaches.
Gray - Knicks aren't setting the world on fire either. [Edited 7/8/12 8:41am] | |

From what I've seen of Celtics games, Rondo has definitely turn into a pain in the ass. And Ainge is a piss-off anyway. | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Supposedly, because they don't want him to be a scorer and they think all his other "skills" can help them. They believe that previously too much pressure was put on him to carry a heavy scoring load. OKC doesn't need much additional scoring, but another big body to back up Perkins won't hurt. That's what they said, anyway. | |

In regards to the rest of this thread...
FUCK THE CELTICS!
Doc Rivers has said he and Rondo have a "unique" relationship, but they "make it work" and "he's still growing and learning". Translated, he's a big ol' pain in the ass. | |

Honestly though Ray moving out of Boston was one of the best news I read in a while regarding the NBA... | |

I keep hearing it's only a matter of time before Howard is a Net. According to ESPN, four teams will be involved. | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Crazy. This morning it was only three - Cavs, Nets and Magic. Seems to keep getting more complicated. Also, it's been reported by multiple sources that the Lakers were willing to trade Bynum but he wouldn't guarantee that he'd sign an extension with Orlando after next season, which basically made the deal worthless for the Magic. | |

Camby to the Knicks.
Steve Novak is returning to the New York Knicks with a four-year deal worth $15 million.
-------------------------------
Orlando has agreed to a sign-and-trade deal, sending restricted free agent forward Ryan Anderson to New Orleans for forward Gustavo Ayon.
-------------------------------
Hornets added Anthony Davis to their Summer League team. Their first Summer League game is Sunday, July 15th.
-------------------------------
I caught some of the first three out of four Summer League games today. Fab Melo and Jared Sullinger both looked good for the Celtics. Nobody else on the six teams I saw play today looked very interesting. But it was just the first day and they're not even playing near NBA level yet.

This started getting reported late this evening on the West Coast. I copied this from a David Aldridge post...
"The basketball website HoopsWorld reported Tuesday that the Magic, Rockets and Lakers had initiated discussions with one another about potential trade scenarios involving Howard and Lakers center Andrew Bynum. The website said the Magic were talking about potential deals that would send Howard to the Lakers and Bynum to the Rockets, with the Magic getting what they want most of all: numerous future Draft picks. The Los Angeles Times reported later Tuesday that the Lakers would be willing to take the contract of guard Jason Richardson (three years and $18.6 million remaining) from Orlando to facilitate the trade. The Magic has also been looking for someone to take the contract of forward Hedo Turkoglu (two years, $23 million remaining) in a potential Howard deal."
ESPN was reporting that the Magic would also take on some sort of smaller contracts, didn't say whether it was players from the Lakers or Rockets, on top of recieving multiple future draft picks and getting rid of Jason Richardson's contract. In other words, they'd have a lot of picks and a lot of money to spend, which would allow them to build a team over the next few years without overspending.
Sounds good, but all the other rumors about Dwight Howard are still active as well and I won't believe anything until I know the paperwork is signed with this dude. | |

The Heat reached a deal with Rashard Lewis. Adding some real nice depth to that team. You'd think they would still be after a legit center, but they won it all last year without one. So... | |

So now Jeremy Lin is surprised the Knicks didn't rush to re-sign him? Mfer please. You were on the verge of being cut a third time, had two weeks of greatness, became a global sensation, and now you'll be set for life despite not being an elite PG. This is business, so STFU, be grateful, and work on your game so the top PGs don't embarrass you. | |

The Heat are much more than the so called Big 3 now..................... | |

I think this betters their chance of having a repeat in 2013. | |

Damn, the Heat can out out a line up of.
G - Dwyane Wade (8 time All-Star) G - Ray Allen (10 time All-Star) F - LeBron James (8 time All-Star) F - Reshard Lewis (3 time All-Star) C - Chris Bosh (7 time All-Star)

Looks like the end of Linsanity. Knicks did a sign & trade with Portland, bringing Ray Felton and Kurt Thomas back to NY. Doesn't look like they'll match Houston's offer to Lin. | |

It's official - Jeremy Lin is a Rocket. | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
And Grant Hill signed with.... the Clippers. Really? Must be more about the money than a ring. That's cool, I can respect that. But he definitely had interest from other teams that would have given him a better chance at a ring. | |

Knicks made the right move for once. You pay Chris Paul that kind of loot, not Jeremy Lin. Carmelo was right, it was a ridiculous contract. It's silly how delusional some of my fellow Knick fans are, acting as if this dude is the second coming of Steve Nash. | |

Lakers got Antwon Jamison. Taking scoring pressure off Kobe. Nash to actually run the offense and score a few points. Jamison puts in 10-15 a night (at least). Definitely a better team already and I'm sure they're not done. | |

The big deal in the Lin contract was the third year. It was just WAY too much. If he turns out to be an all-star level superstar it will make sense. But that's the only way. | |

- I like what the Nets have done this off season. They didn't get DHoward, but I still like the starting 5 they'll have next season:
C: Brook Lopez F: Kris Humphries F: Gerald Wallace G: Deron Williams G: Joe Johnson
That's a nice starting 5. And they signed Jerry Stackhouse. I'm not sure how much he has left but.......We'll also have Marshon Brooks coming off the bench. I expect him to be improved in his second year. We may also have the d-leaguer Gerald Green coming off the bench. I'm not sure about his status. He was fire last year.
This team can't win a championship (without some major help like injuries to LOTS of key players on other teams), but they should at least be competitive this season.
Also, there are those braggin' rights...........
