I was afraid that Prometheus would end up being a bit like that movie Event Horizon, but I had no idea it would pick up the idea of the completely cliche black ooze which grew to be an irritating element in X-Files.

I also get the same feeling when George Lucas made up the midichloreans to explain the Force.

I agree that the pacing was horrible .. I kept wondering .. why is this guy all freaking out already and why is this scene cutting to the next already. Just really poorly directed. Not to mention the plot and characters are beyond stupid. As in they do the stupidest things over and over. Oh lets open the door and stand here with a flame thrower so that guy can't get on board. How bout you just leave the door closed. How about when you run scared from a dead guy with no head, you don't sit around playing with the alien snake penis vagina monster for 10 minutes. What is this a 3 stooges episode. Really getting tired of my favorite artists, movie directors, musicians, selling out and putting out rubbish.

You don't think Prometheus and even the first ALIEN had an anti government theme, anti military agenda? I think that was the intention in these two, despite Prometheus having weak characters and plot.

Any movie with violence glorifies war .. making it exciting entertainment. That is in fact the hollywood agenda. Certainly Alien is more likely to have some art and heart in it. I really did not find much redeeming about Prometheus. The whole movie seemed very thrown together. It's hard for me to believe there was any respectable intent to this movie at all.
