The same people control the world as always have done. And sure, they probably have their own agenda.

But uniting people under some sort of "new age enviromental religion" and lying about what's happening to the world is NOT what they are doing. If it were, then activists would surely have a much easier job and not be facing oppression from apathetic governments and societies who are always too late to act.

I went to see it yesterday, & didn’t care for it much. I’d made an effort to stay as spoiler-free as possible, but I did know that I was not to expect a rehash of Alien. I’d already made my peace with that & tried to go with whatever I was given, but I personally didn’t find much to like here, and I was mostly left confused and dissatisfied. It felt like too much clunky dialogue & half-formed characters and explanations that seemed to raise more questions than they answered – everything feels like a muddled mess right now. Maybe I just missed stuff. I like roaming through movie message boards and podcast reviews, and perhaps I’ll find some answers there that will make things come together a little better for me.

And I just hated the premise - I could have put it aside if I had actually enjoyed the movie, but I just hated the concept of engineers, of ancient astronauts as creators. I’d much rather have seen a movie where we find a world where Aliens evolved - what kind of world could support that life-form? I’ve been keeping a queen ant for a few weeks, and she laid eggs last Friday and hopefully there are more to come. I think that queen & her children are going to do far more interesting things in the weeks & months to come than anything we were given here.

If you watch at least the first 3 Aliens movies, Prometheus doesn't stray terribly far from them. It's very clear that the Engineers are more important in this story than the Xenomorphs and it seems most people came expecting a Xenomorph fairytale.

Seems like this has definitely been a continuation of the story, especially if you consider the canonical Aliens Vs Predator films which delve deeply into the Xenomorphs themselves.

Its high time the Engineers got their storyline and here it is! I was a little jarred the first time I saw it by the ending. I wasn't expecting that, much less that it just seemed to... END. lol. I thought the pacing was great and engrossing.

The only thing that hit me weirdly was the biologist's assumption that the mutated facehugger was somehow friendly or capable of domesticated-like behavior.

I think, maybe the closer you get to the black stuff-that you lose complete control of your impulses. Why is Charlize's character sleeping with that dude? I'm guessing impulse. Why do these men in the end sacrifice so much with out full knowledge of what they are sacrificing for?? I just guess it's the effect of the black goo. The main point is that the black goo must alter people in some way.

Totally with you on the man-in-suit vs CGI aliens....give me Bolaji Badejo in an alien costume any day. In fact, I'm still not entirely convinced by CGI. I know its allowed filmmakers to do things that otherwise wouldn't have been possible, but to me it still looks a bit plastic, more animation than real-life.

I like the concept of the Engineers to, I just thought they could have been executed with a bit more orginality (like humans but taller and more pumped...yawn!)

As for considering the AvP films as part of the official canon....hell no!
