The Rocky Movies

Oh man... did i ever have nostalgia today lol

I re-watched Rocky III and forget how much i adored the hell out of the Rocky movies when i was a youngin. Back when i was doing martial arts/boxing i got into all those 80's & 70's sports movies.

And while Rocky I & 2 are still great films and i rank them highly... number 3 is for sure when the series became a little over the top. But i still love Clubber Lang & the music is the shit to smile Sylvester Stallone, Mr. T & Carl Weathers where 3 of my heroes when i was young.

Rocky IV is insanly over the top & more of an Chuck Norris film than a Rocky lol but it's a HUGE guility pleasure & the soundtrack is pure 80's orgasm razz

Number 5 is shit lol & number 6 was a good finale smile

Actually in all fairness, yes I suppose that there are underlying messages to be had from Rocky.

But while Star Wars is intergalactic GOSPEL, Rocky is inner-city pep talk.

Visionnaire

I really enjoy Rocky & Rocky 2, particularly the first film, mostly b'cuz of the nostalgic connection I have with it.
I remember watching the first installment of the Italian Stallion series as a very young kid, & even at an age when I held the firm belief that the female sex was rife with cooties, I found my young pimp-ass simply adoring the love story between the two "loser" types of Arian & the original Rock. And, TBH, this was probably the first time that I actually began jumping up & down at the end of a movie (as a kid, I really ate up the over-the-top boxing styles depicted in the match).
At the time, Rocky's plot just seemed to be able to pull at all the right heart-strings for a boy with almost no experience in romance or overcoming obstacles, to the extent that even to this day, I still feel a slight jitter in my chest whenever I watch this flick.
Either that,
or maybe I'm developing some kind of heart murmur.

I dunno.

Exactly. I thought the shitty fifth one was non-existent to us. lol Guns, you know my take on this, we've discussed this in detail previously. ;-)

My ranks:
Rocky IV (for Sly's black tight training pants and the training montages alone drool)
Rocky
Rocky III
Rocky II
Rocky Balboa

Had Sly not written Apollo off in IV, I'd love to had seen a street fight between Clubber Lang and Apollo in Rocky Balboa. evillol Now who would had won that one?
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

The Rocky movies are incredible. However, I love the first two how they concentrate on the love story between two interesting charactors. The rest are good but are more Hollywood-ised. One is by far the best.

Sly is an underrated writter. There is so much heart, warms and humor is his scripts.

Seems Sly got this idea from a real boxer and never really gave him any credit.

IMO, Sly is hit and miss with his scripts. The first two Rocky's were pretty good, but even though I do like Rocky III and IV, the writing got pretty corny and only got worse with V.

As with "The Expendables"..you have a superior cast of action stars, but the script was horrid. Some of the lines made me cringe. And why the hell was somebody forever saving Jet Li from getting hurt? Urgh that just irked me to no end. Jet don't need no damn help. Now they are going to have this sequel. The only reason why I want to see it is because of the cast, and maybe, JUST MAYBE the script will be better this go 'round.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

It's just good old ass kicking fun...............who cares about the script? I'll bet that is what they were thinking filming this.

Even though I know that the last one was, at least on the surface, a bunch of rehashed ideas and practically a remake of Rocky I, I still love it and it is easily one of my all time favorite movies. I never would´ve thought he´d manage to save that franchise and end it gracefully but he did. Rocky Balboa is a great movie about aging, mourning, loss, death, love, growing tension between father and son, the bad economy, the changing times.....I could go on and on. The last thing the movie is about is boxing. lol

I really love that last one, and Rocky I,II, III and VI are must-see movies.

I owe a lot to those movies. If it wasn´t for them, I´d be a different person.

I thought so too, but that's apparently not the case:

In the ninth round Wepner knocked down Ali, though Ali later contended that Wepner had stepped on his foot. Wepner went to his corner and said to his manager, "Al, start the car. We're going to the bank. We are millionaires." To which Wepner's manager replied, "You better turn around. He's getting up and he looks pissed off."[5]

In the remaining rounds, Ali decisively outboxed Wepner and opened up cuts above both Wepner's eyes and broke his nose. Wepner was far behind on the scorecards when Ali knocked him down with 19 seconds left in the 15th round. The referee counted to nine before calling a technical knockout.[6]

It is rumored that actor Sylvester Stallone watched the fight at home on television and was inspired to write the script for Rocky, based on Wepner's gutsy challenge, but Stallone subsequently denied that this was true.[citation needed] It is more likely that Stallone was influenced by Rocky Graziano's autobiography "Somebody up there likes me", and the movie of the same name. It's also interesting that Graziano's real name, Rocco "Rocky" Barbella is similar to the name Rocky Balboa. Wepner filed a law suit which was eventually settled with Stallone for an undisclosed amount.

As for the movies themselves, I think "Rocky III" is one of the greatest movies ever made!

I love that movie.

I've never seen "Rocky Balboa". I guess I should.

Sly can be a good writer when he wants to. But he also can make duds....... Judge Dread, Locked Up, The Specialist ill

Cop Land was a HUGE Retrun to form for Sly. The biggest he had till Rocky Balboa & Rambo IV & one of his best performances.

I Was watching this review of rocky V... And tons of people think it's underrated confused i mean look to each his own lol But there is so many issues

First off it was an attempt to be more... ''realistic'' like the first 2. So why is Rockys son like 7 years older in this movie? How did they let Paulie screw over all there money AND THEN they let him live with them confused FUCK THAT kick his ass to the curb lol

That obvious Don King character lol that street fight at the end helped nothing. Rocky whooped Tommy Gunns ass but he is still the champ lol and he is still making that dough!!

Basically the movie is beyond flawed.
