Are People Using Facebook less and moving to other social networks?

Since the change to that horrid mad Timeline machinegun feature, I don't find myself on FB as much.

I noticed a spike in my Linkedin requests/use and Twitter use.

So many folks are complaing about FB/Timeline, and they won't change it back.

Facebook is okay, but I think it's 15min of fame are about up. It's becoming a bit stale.

I normally don't use it anyway but to check for messages and posts on my wall. But I surely don't use it like I used to. When Facebook's interface was easier to use, I would post YT videos on there and write random stuff. Now I don't even do much of that anymore so yeah you can say I had moved on. But then, I'm not so crazy about a social network lately.

I've recently had really big problems using it together with Chrome (and Chromium). I don't know why they can't just stick with the same code for longer periods of time, so that people wouldn't have to constantly update their java / flash / whatever bullshit plugins that site requires. Internet help forums are constantly littered with people posting "HELP FACEBOOK DOESN'T LOAD ALL OF A SUDDEN" type of threads.

I think the people on my own list are really just interested in posting about their own crap and hardly even read what others are posting. The rest don't post too much anymore.

It kinda reminds me of the Firefox browser. Back then I used it as an alternative to Internet Explorer and I never went back to it. But now it's too choppy to use. The updates somehow almost make anything that used to be good seem real choppy. And Facebook is definitely choppy. Why Zuckerberg thought this was a good idea, I don't know...

Yeah that's why I don't fuck with Twitter no more because of that bullshit. And I'm starting not to fuck with TUMBLR that much because of the same shit. And TUMBLR's a blog site, not a social networking place but somehow people want it to make it that way. You can't blog in peace there without someone screaming "SEND ME A MESSAGE BECAUSE I'M LONELY IN THIS BITCH!" falloff

nod Thank God I still don't have timeline for my profile yet whew. But I guess I will probably get it very soon. It might be a reason for me to not be there as much as I am now.

We were more or less forced to by the date the timeline was to be included. They would announce it too: "we're gonna forcibly update to the timeline at XXXX". So I just said "fuck it". neutral

I was never a big user but I haven't logged in for over 6 months unless I got an email about a received message. Others I know seem to be spending less time on it also.

Maybe it's a mixture of privacy concerns and it just not being new anymore. Things change and people move on to newer things.

Social networks have a bad financial track record. Bebo was bought for $850M and sold for $10m a couple of years later when it was less popular. Something similar happened to Friends Reunited in the UK.

I think they're cashing out at the right time - their stock market IPO is next week and the company's valued at almost $100 BILLION.

I deactivated my account in January so I haven't gotten the chance to experience the timeline for myself. I just got really tired of event invites and status updates from all these people I don't really care all that much for lol

Some of the 'old school' orgers who enjoyed a great deal of popularity in General discussion have completely migrated over to facebook.

There's ALOT about facebook I don't care for---ok...I DETEST.

But, I enjoy the banter I have with these former orgers. General Discussion is really different without them around. I don't hate it here...but, the better jokes and discussions take place on facebook now.

I still use facebook, but very rarely as i've replaced it with BBM anyways. part of the reason why I don't use it that much anymore is that the guys at facebook keep making unwanted changes. But nah facebook isn't quite dead like MySpace yet. lol

got rid of mine and don't use similar social networks either - also trying to persuade my friends to at least spend less time using them. i miss old days when friends came together instead of communicating through technology

I prefer Facebook, especially for friends/family/orgers. Timeline doesn't bother me that much anymore. I mainly follow Twitter for celebrity gossip and news/tour dates. I very rarely talk to anyone I know on there because hardly anyone I know has it.

I still don't have timeline. I doubt I'm ever going to go to it. Being a 21st century person, I use Facebook (not a lot) and nearly everyone I know has one.

Now that I got timelined - I don't mind it so much. I recently read that FB has nearly 900 million members. I keep in touch with family and friends on there quite a lot. But I canot handle any more social networks - someone was trying toget me to go on Pinterest... talk to the hand

Facebook is alright. And I really don't care about the lay-out change.

It’s an easy way to stay in touch with friends overseas and keep my parents happy by posting photo’s when on holiday.

I don’t feel the need to join any other social media.

I like the way you can highlight something and it makes it big across both columns, it looks nice! And I like the big cover photo too.

I watched a doco about Facebook last night and they showed some of the old layouts - which looked pretty awful, can you believe it's only been around since 2004!

It took me a long while to even get used to fb, I loved myspace back in the day

I can hardly remember myspace now nuts I remember getting upset when my favourite band randomised their top 8 friends and I lost my number one place and I wrote them a comment to have me re-instated ASAP or they would be moved from no.1 spot on my top 8 falloff

lol I logged into myspace today because somebody sent me a friend request. I could hardly remember my password lol.

The top friends lists falloff.... It was nice when somebody had thousands of friends and me in their top friends, but I am happy FB doesn't have that, it's not a good thing to rate your friends
