:could be .
About 1 1/&2 years ago my boyfriend's sister created a myspace account because I told her I had an account there. She probably thought it was a new and hot thing to have one . I feel guilty . Like anything else, since we've got the attention span of a dung beetle, I think that we've gotten somewhat bored with it and are ready for the "next new thing". By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Facebook is about to IPO. Read - be financially responsible to public shareholders. Read - more adverts, every where you look. "Promoted" posts in your stream. Ads in between posts. etc etc.
This will not be good for FB.
I like Twitter, G+ and Tumblr a whole lot more these days. |

I deleted mine a few days ago. It just turned into a complete waste of time, and if made me realize how many stupid, ignorant, uneducated, boring, shiftless people I know. Plus, I was only really going on there to keep in contact with my husband, but at the moment, I don't give a shit. I've also deleted my dating profiles as well. By doing so I have cut down on a LOT of internet activity. In doing that, I've been able to focus on other things, such as my art and music. It's like this whole new region of my brain opened up. I've been more creative than I ever have

Lol amen! I got tired of seeing "I'm hungry" "I'm sleepy" "I'm at the mall" "I made buffalo back tacos for dinner" "I douched with fruit juice instead of vinegar today" really, REALLY? At first I just started unsubscibing and deleting people, then I just said "fuck it" and deactivated my account.

From purely a design perspective, I prefer the timeline over the old format. Although I suspect FB's interest in pushing the new timeline is because the format encourages people to fill in more of their personal history over the entire span of their lives, and makes FB more valuable as a data-miner. But my profile never contains anything more than a few YouTube clips, or maybe a famous quote or two, as I regularly delete anything on my profile that's older than the current month, and never post anything of a personal nature.
Ultimately, I don't care how FB decides to design their site. I'm just not that dependent upon it.

I can't vouch for using Facebook less because I don't have a Facebook account. I had a MySpace account I really never used, and I have a Twitter account I rarely use. So I guess I'm not up on this social networking stuff.

I use facebook today more than ever. For personal but mostly for art events and keeping in touch with followers of my art-doings.

You know one small reason I (still) come here (besides posting new music now and replying to other posts and shit) is because this still keeps the same design. I had argued about changing it up but when you compare it to Facebook's designs, I rather be here.

...Will you marry me? jk
I hope people are moving away from Facebook. I've always thought it sucked, and every time I join I never stayed long. I have one account there now under a bogus name that I almost never use.
I miss the heyday of MySpace. I was on there all the time. All.the. TIME.

Yeah, when MySpace was hot, it seems like it was more exciting than any of these other social networking sites have ever been. It probably had something to do with the certain amount of anonymity it provided.

Seemed like? It definitely was.
I've been on a ton of social networking sites, and none of them were (or are) as fun and addictive as MySpace was back then.
It was like it was wide-open and anything could (and did) happen. Sometimes that was really good; sometimes it was really bad.
I've kinda hoped to see another site like that but in retrospect, I don't think we will, I think the times had a lot to do with it, because social networking was so new in general. 비

IMO - Myspace shot itself in the foot by being too ahead of the times.
When it was hot, people got all crazy with music on the homepage and glitter and sh*t. At the time, there were still PLENTY of people using dial-up modems or slow connections. I jumped aboard for a minute, but it took me so DAMN long to load a page (old computer) that I abandoned it.
Facebook was simpler. Nothing to load.
Now, Facebook is becoming almost what Myspace was with all the ads and the timeline images and sh*t. Of course, everyone's got broadband now so it doesn't make a difference.

In the end, aren't they all pretty much, the same?
Meaning, you'll get bored with one network, then moved on go to the other, and then get bored with that.

Fuck facebook. If it suddenly became the ONLY WAY to communicate with other human beings I would happily live the rest of my life in isolation.

Damn pick up the phone, email me, or God forbid...write me a letter. The issues of privacy, face recognition software, employers/goverment seeking information, and the marketing gimmicks that sure to come should give everyone pause. I keep saying Facebook is NO good but to each his or here own.
Like MySpace, I do believe its a fad and something will come along to replace in the near future.

Message boards/websites to me are a specific... you are invovled with people on a particular subject you all have a common interest in. You don't recieve notifications from people you were never interested in knowing or speaking with in the first place. You don't have anyone trying to pimp you, or your info necessarily. Besides message/websites or music sites are low maintenance... I've watched my daughter and all the shit she does to "prune" Facebook page/email, what a waste of time.

I think it's an easy way for people of all ages to use and keep in touch.
I don't use it as a lifestyle component. I'm just not online that much. Some people vomit their whole lives on there, arguements fights revenge etc It's way too much.
Facebook was to be a simple way of keeping in touch, little updates without having to call someone up and tell them, photo sharing info sharing etc
They gotta be careful because, people are adding a sexual element to it that I hope doesn't turn it into another Myspace

By the end of MySpace's reign, nearly everyone was posing in their underwear for their main profile pic, lol. Lots of people were even getting away with flat-out nudity. MySpace lost total control just before it imploded.
