not scary now, but when i first saw this tom cruise 'legend' movie, the below character scared me.

The Lord Of Darkness in Legend

I hadn't seen the movie Alien yet when I was a teen and I had a book about the makings of it. I had nightmares just from the pix in the book!! Didn't see the film until I finally dared in my mid 20s

Not so much - my imagination was far worse than anything they could put on film.
The suspense in that film is brilliant - the alien lurking in the darkened corridors unseen is far scarier than later alien movies where you saw the aliens clearly.

These are mine too.

Certain phrases are a haunting reminder for me with these movies.

"The power of Christ compells you" - both priests screaming it together

"Beep Beep, Ritchie" - that fucked-up clown

That old man with the hat in Poltergeist II saying..."god is in his holy temple" makes me feel like a 5 year old in the fetal position.

Honorable mention, Texas Chainsaw Massacre II. At first I'm laughing at Dennis Hopper and then it just goes from one horrific scene and cuts to another messed up one for like 20 minutes.

#3: "The Last Man on Earth" is actually the original movie- 1 of 3- made for Richard Matthison's "I Am Legend".

It's the one that follows the book the closest, and despite the cheesiness of the time (1964), it's the best. It's just creepy.

I second that and also Lost Highway by David Lynch.. Robert Blake's character is creepy as f***.. the scene where they're at the party and he says "I'm at your house.. I'm there right now. Call me." classic and still gives me chills!

There is no movie that scares me any longer sigh Lord knows Ive tried to find one, but... nothing... hrmph

That's me too. try as I might to find one, I can't. And I love horror movies (not gory--that's just trying too hard). When I was younger of course The Exorsist scared me for days. No movie was ever like that. But now the bar is raised so high and every creature and monster has been done to death that it's impossible to scare me. Candyman never did.

I had high hopes for Insidious until the latter part then I was just pissed and didn't even want to watch any more of it. hmph! Those stupid Paranormal crap movies were a joke. When you grow up scared of real demons under your bed those movies are funny. lol

Session 9 came close too. But I wasn't really terrified. A movie that disturbed and scared me was Possession with Sam Neill. To this day I still get queasy watching it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082933/

But I think the last movie that came close to scaring me was the Blair Witch...because it was geared more toward the imagination. Now disturbing is another thing altogether. I refuse to watch that Human Centipede movie. Gross and terrifying are too different things.

I completely agree.

I feel like it takes so little imagination to chop someone up. rolleyes

I want to leave the theatre (or go to bed after an evening on the couch) like omg because "that could happen". That's why I'm on the edge of my couch every Sunday night watching "Walking Dead", and then have crazy zombie dreams. (I shouldn't have read the CDC "Preparedness Plan" online! disbelief)

I do remember watching "The Thing" in high school and being completely creeped out... shrug

Honorable mentions for the mental image:

  • When she came down the stairs in that weird spider crawl in "The Exorcist"
  • The movements of that girl who came out of the TV in "The Ring"

"Love Hurts.

JEEPERS CREEPERS (just the first one) This movie scares the shit out of me. If I would have stumbled upon a basement full of dad bodies I would have gotten the fuck out of dodge. Fuck trying to find a phone I would have drove 100 mph until I got to my destination.

CANDYMAN - Creepy as fuck! You can't pay me to say his name 5 times in the mirror. He's fuckin real I tell you! boxed

And that's it. I usually watch scary movies for fun but these two I have to watch with somebody. lol
