IT - I have hated clowns since I saw it.

Jeepers Creepers - it freaks me out just to type it.

Candyman - I know you had the say the name, but I didn't even talk while looking in the mirror after I watched it just in case.

Haven't watched the Exorcist, cause I know I would be freaked.

My wife is terrified of movies with demons, etc but I'm afraid of big things.Jurassic Park, Jaws, War of the Worlds, Monsters, The Fourth Kind. Anything that is superior and plausible I guess. Probably the thought of being hunted.

I'm from NJ, and saw this in a movie theater near that bridge in Newark where Tom Cruise first saw the aliens. In fact, I am familiar with that whole downtown area where people were getting zapped.

Too close... disbelief

The scarriest movies are the ones where the plot seems like it could happen in real life.

I remember when I was like 8 years old and I watched the movie Salem's Lot on TV. I had nightmares for weeks! I was scared to go to funerals for about a good 15 years after that. And I'm still not too fond of them.biggrin

I watch the movie every now and then but there are a couple of scenes that I still have to fast forward through. Like when when the grave digger jumps down in the open grave on top of the little boy's casket and opens it up and the boy raises up out of the coffin and bites him! OMG! Just shit still freaks me out!!!boxed

Exorcist, IT i fear clowns

Poltergeist 2 that old man who comes to the door scares the life out of me

These are mine too.

Certain phrases are a haunting reminder for me with these movies.

"The power of Christ compells you" - both priests screaming it together

"Beep Beep, Ritchie" - that fucked-up clown

That old man with the hat in Poltergeist II saying..."god is in his holy temple" makes me feel like a 5 year old in the fetal position.

Honorable mention, Texas Chainsaw Massacre II. At first I'm laughing at Dennis Hopper and then it just goes from one horrific scene and cuts to another messed up one for like 20 minutes.

I'm a grown ass chick and to this day I will not hang a mirror behind a door because of the movie Phantasm. The very last scene of that movie had the devil/demon snatching the hero right through it. I just can't do it.

Special mention has to go to the Japanese versions of Ring and Grudge. Really, really good stuff. Also the strange creature from Pan's Labyrinth. Both of them actually!
How about the cold terror of Funny Games? Great movie.
Hostel and the like are odd movies. I never knew whether to remain disgusted that they'd been made or just give in to my internal demons and just masturbate whilst watching them.

Seriously though has no one else seen The Fourth Kind?

The Abandoned was terrifically scary!

Also, The Orphanage...not The Orphan. This one has subtitles and is a tragic, sad ghost story with major anxiety-building creepiness.

The beginning of this is SCARY... the alien peeking is the shit. But the end half of the movie becomes this odd new age thing that is not scary.

But what about:

Del Toro. Always makes a good movie. Pan's Labyrinth is his best though. Flawless in fact.
