Anybody ever given up dairy? Seems I'm lactose intolerant and will be having to give up dairy. This is damned hard! Seems there's eggs, milk or cheese in damn near everything. I literally think I'm going to be eating "Cap'n Crunch & Soy milk" - sounds gross. So, has anyone here given up dairy? Was it hard for you? Give me some good non-dairy ideas- please!

me!!! Last night I ordered a pizza from a regular pizza place that makes them up to order, and I asked for no cheese. It was pretty good still. I buy lactose free milk and I like that much better than soy milk, though for cereal soy milk is pretty tolerable. The thing I'm missing is Lindt milk chocolate and ice cream a whore in sheep's clothing

I'm lactose intolerant as well. I also have IBS which makes things more difficult Eggs don't contain lactose, so you shouldn't have to give them up. I eat them multiple times a week with no problems. I still eat yogurt, but some have problems with it, so it depends on how you react to it. I drink lactose-free milk. I don't like it as much as I find it a little sweeter than regular milk, but I drink it instead so that I don't suffer LOL. I've given up some cheeses, but not all. It's hard but it's also because some make me feel much worse than others. I just completely avoid those. I don't eat ice cream at all

Almond milk is quite good. Almond cheese in a sandwich is passable for the real thing. Silken tofu is a good substitute for ricotta cheese in italian pasta dishes like lasagna or stuff shells.

I did for years due to lactose intolerance. I checked labels diligently, even had to give up most candy bars such as Paydays cause the nuget had dairy in it. I was surprised how many foods I was use to eating I had to give up. But now, I suppose based on my overall daily diet and routine, I can tolerate some dairy such as cheese and ice cream in limited doses, but if I over indulge it hurts. I started out with Soy milk for cereals and baking, then that started becoming a problem since soy became the 'in' thing and was ending up in a lot foods it started making me sick, then I went to Rice Milk for a while, but my son couldn't it stand, it was too watery for him, so now I buy Almond Milk for the house we both like it.

Too much soy will shorten you lifespan. Try almond milk instead.

Soymilk gives me horrible gas.... if it does to you then try lactose-free milk. Its good... REALLY good.
And just cut back on cheese altogether. I do better with goat cheese.
