Damn. disbelief sounds like those magazine auto renewal situations.

Or lotusflow3r.com

They auto renewed on that site? I guess it didn't affect my account. Dang you know I do remember some orgers talking about this a while back. How much was it, like $70 or something?

$77. They didn't get me, either - because the credit card I tied to the account had expired. whew

woot! for the people going out alone. I went to a Prince concert alone. first time doing something that big alone and had a blast, even tho I'm really shy around new people. I also went out to the club alone this NYE. it's a great way to meet people. I've gone out alone before and lo and behold that's where I met my now ex-boyfriend. It can definitely be done. I'm on plentyoffish now and rolleyes the messages I get is making me want to remove my likeness from the internet all together lol give me the old fashioned way!

You're very brave MissFee. I did the movies alone once, in NYC - I couldn't wait to get outta there!!! I also went to a Beyonce concert alone once (no one wanted to go with me biggrin ), again in NYC. That actually wasn't so bad. I really enjoyed singing and dancing along side people I had just met biggrin .

My Mom - who will celebrate her 50th anniversary being married to my father this April 2012 - always tells me I don't know how lucky I am to be single lol . She's not your typical "why aren't you married yet" Mother. She keeps telling me to enjoy!! I honestly don't know how to do it though.

Also, she already has two sons-in-law and she had two daughters-in-law, along with grandchildren. So, she doesn't have to sweat me to get that for her.

Well you are very lucky to have a mom who doesn't pressure you like that. I, unfortunately, have a family that is not as open minded as your mom is. In fact, my grandmother told me a couple of weeks ago "well I guess you'll be the last to get married then". I looked up at her in shock, I couldn't believe what she said, and it hurt my feelings a little. I talked to my mom about it and she said don't worry about it, that I would meet someone when the time is right. My mom is similar in thinking to your mom, though she does feel that I will get married and have a family one day soon. As for me, yes I want that, but I'm also cautious. I don't want to just jump into marriage and all of that because it's EXPECTED of me. I go against the grain with my family anyway, so they know that they can't control me. wink

But back to the topic, yeah I went to a Mint Condition concert last summer by myself and had a great time, shaking around and dancing. I have problems with my friends going with me to places too sometimes, but it's all good though, then I don't have to worry about if they are having a good time or not. cool

I can totally relate nod I have always dreaded going to places by myself. But I finally just did it one day and it wasn't bad at all.

I too went to my first Prince Concert in Dec 2010 alone...because none of my RL friends are fans...got the tickets last minute..couldn't arrange a meet-up with any one from here..but I'd be damned if that was gonna make me miss it. I ended up having the best time. People I had only just met that night...we were acting like we'd known each other for years. It was fun.

My friend's wife (the 'bitch' from the proposal thread rolleyes) told me that "a lady should never go out alone. She looks desperate, and it lets people know she has no one. I could never do that."

Man, oh man, I can't stand her! mad

highfive I know right? When I went to the jazz festival, I was sitting in my lawn chair by myself with my glass of wine and my shades on and these people were getting ready to sit their chairs right in front of me, blocking my clear patch of sight to the stage...at first I was getting pissed but then one of the ladies introduced herself to me and asked me if I had come alone. I said yes, and she invited me to sit with her and the people she came with and introduced me all to them as well. So I moved my chair up and was laughing and talking with them. That made my time spent there even more special. biggrin

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

sigh Urgh. People like that are so unhappy that they just love wreaking their miserable attitude on others. I also think its a sign of jealousy, because it takes a lot for a person to venture out on their own, so when folks like that say closed minded things such as what she said, it just proves that they don't have any balls to go out by themselves anywhere.

I let my Match.com membership expire.

Dealing with too much shit right now to be in the proper frame of mind to make that work.

FUNNY THING is that for 6 months, barely 1 or 2 bites (nibbles really)...now that the membership is expired, suddenly I'm getting weekly notifications of; "6 Women are Interested In You! Come Back to Us Now!!!"

There is so much to do enabling you to meet ppl, that you CAN do alone!!!!!!

go for a walk / jog in the park

go to the beach

go shopping

go out for the day

go see a movie

go to the theatre

go to an art show

Craft Markets

Show Days

Take the dog for long walks

..... etc etc etc

I have just started to do al lot of things on my own, at first i was extremely anxious as it has been a while and i thought it would be way too awkward, but it isnt, one thing i noticed is the amount of single ppl doing the same thing nod

There are a few things i can not do on my own, i prob dont have the confidence to do so, like going to a restaurant or a bar or a night club..... but they r not important to me, so its cool cool

and so far i have met a few of interesting ppl wink

[Edited 1/2/12 16:35pm]

I do that too, go places by myself. I go to jazz festivals, museums, wine tastings, movies, happy hours, etc. by myself. One of my friends said that she could never do that because it feels pathetic to her. I was like well that might be an internal issue, but there's nothing wrong with going out by yourself and getting out of the house. Sometimes I look around and see couples and stuff and feel a bit left out, but then I think to myself that everything isn't always what it seems and that I'm in the best position right now, to pick and choose who I want to go out with.

[Edited 1/2/12 17:24pm]

Nah..what feels pathetic is being so insecure to get out and see what's in the world ,that you lock yourself in the house while life passes you by.

As for the couples you see, you're right about everything always not being what it seems, as I can think of many an event I've attended back in the day with exes where I was about 2 steps from kicking them in the back because they were working my nerves so badly faint

I've done most of those things alone including concerts, twice, but I don't really meet anybody. I don't think about it either when I go out especially when I'm determined to get out. Most of the time I prefer going to the movies alone so I don't get distracted by somebody talking to me or constantly looking at their phone.

Oh, she's soooo not a friend. shake

She tolerates me because I've been friends with her husband since 4th grade.

I try to be respectful of her to not cause problems with him.

Air kisses, fake smiles, sweet syrupy tones of voice... lurking

They moved to another state, so I don't have to see her anymore! biggrin
