Christmas Eve will be spent at my mom's with my brothers and their families. Then later that evening I go to my aunt's house on my dad's side. We'll probably do Christmas with my dad over there. Hopefully he doesn't pass bad checks to buy gifts. confused

Christmas day will be something different. My mom has always made a huge dinner and my aunt and uncle would come over. My aunt passed away earlier this year so this year will be extremely low key since it will be our first Christmas without her. cry Mom and I are going out to eat and probably going to the Muppet movie. It will be different but I'm sure it will be fun.

You are being modest, you know you are a great cook! You are an Earth sign like me. I am a Capricorn. I have my Moon in Taurus and other Venus/Taurus aspects. I like to eat. Cooking not so much. As I said before, cakes and pasteries are my favorite. Do you like to use herbs/spices in your foods? That is very healthy.

Fresh when ever possible.

I have pots of herbs I grow in my kitchen.

Spices? Yeah... but I never cook with curry. The foods I make don;t call for them since I tend to cook more on the non-spicy side.

I do make curried chicken, goat and lamb... but those are on rare occasions. nod

I do love to cook.

Some of the herbs/spices I like are: ginger, cumin, garlic, marjoram, oregano, red pepper, rosemary, tumeric, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon.

I use cinnamon in coffee, tea, yogurt, oatmeal, cakes, etc.

You also have artistic talents. Do/did you sing, play instruments, dance, paint, write, etc?

Dance, draw, and sculpt... I can make anything with my hands. Not a great painter though... lol

Went to art college and design gardens now. I love garden design. Plants fascinate me.

Christmas is officially 3 days long here (24th, 25th, and 26th) so we'll be running from pillar to post between family, friends and church activities nonstop. I really want to just stay home on the 26th though, maybe bake a duck, cozy up with some good movies, and drink hot cocoa drinks all nice and liquored up with Bailey's. Last week was a marathon week and this week while I've been recovering I've been baking, styling the house, trying to get shopping done for those 3 days of closed stores, do last minute writing, and organize gifts. Shoot... I'm ready to put my feet up and just stay in my own house dead

We are at our house in the mountains of Angel Fire, New Mexico and we are covered in snow!

We've been skiing and we're going to do some horseback riding.

Mostly, we're spending a lot of time together on family stuff. Our son goes off to college next August, so we know there won't be another Christmas like this one.

Normally, we'd be going to see Joel Osteen for Christmas services but since we're out of town, we're going to Christmas day services on top of the mountain. I can't wait!

My wife, daughter and I are having Christmas Eve dinner with our neighbors, then VERY early Christmas morning we'll drive down to Cleveland to spend the holiday with our families there.

I have a hard time describing a pernil. You can't say "ham" because people picture the pink/cured ham with the pineapple slices and cherries on top. It's technically a roasted pork shoulder I believe?

Do you make arroz-con-gandules btw? That was a Holiday/special occassion staple at our house. I will miss that damned dish.

Also, you didn't mention coquito... no no no!

One-too-many Christmases without coquito and they will revoke your Boriqua license. nod

Actually, I DID mention coquito... its a staple in my crib on Christmas.

And yes, pernil is a pork picnic... a cut of meat not generally made by American counterparts. Its delish... I do make a spiral cut ham... but I will not pay 50 bucks for a cut of meat this Christmas.

Christmas eve will most likely be the pork shoulder (roasted) with the rice w/ gandules (its a n easy and inexpensive meal) biggrin

That looks and sounds seriously amazing!

Oh that I wish I was in your families...

I think I must in withdrawal for home cooking. Since I've been in Argentina, unless I'm eating steak or empanadas, I've had a hard time finding really good food!

This will be my first Christmas ever to be away from family. Luckily I have 2 friends coming to visit, but I have absolutely no idea what we will be doing. I think this entire city shuts down. sad

Any argentinean orgers want to adopt 3 girls for Christmas??

I'm going to think of something, I always spend my Christmas not celebrating because it does something to my mom when Christmas hits. Anyway this year she works and I'm just going to be home but this time I will be by myself doing nothing. I plan to bake cookies and wrap them or decorate them... them from there I got nothing.

sigh I guess I got to get use to it because when I move away I won't be able to make it home some Christmases
