I think it'll be great, but I'm a fan...a lot of folks aint gonna like it but most of those folks only see him as a shock jock (and some of those have never even heard a show) and don't realize that he is a huge fan of competetive reality shows...plus, he's generally right on with his evaluation of the acts/contestants...Howard has had an amazing career, especially for someone that is primarily a radio personality

How is it you feel?

Did he announce it? I'm listening to the West Coast feed, so I guess I'll wait. But woot! Now I'll have a reason to watch that show. Is he going to move his radio show to L.A.?

Exactly what I was thinking...and exactly what I was wondering, he hates to travel

orger, I think this will change for the better a lot of peoples thinking about Howard Stern. He's going to take this very seriously.

Efan, yes, he announced it! and no, they are moving the AGT show to NYC just for him! woot!

although he will be doing all the state to state auditions so he will be doing a ton of traveling....says none of it will interfere with the radio show.

it'll be interesting to see how people will react to a serious Howard...lots of 'em are gonna tune in because of how they expect him to act, looking for a shock factor that they most likely wont get...and on the other hand, some die hard fans will accuse him of being a sell out...it doesn't matter to me, I'm happy for him and I'm happy I'll get to see him on tv again...I let Sirius go a few months ago so I've been having Howard withdrawls

I think he'll be serious but a harsh critic too so folx will get some kind of "shock" factor from him.

OMG! I could never get rid of my Sirius! I would die from the withdrawls. wink

I know this is more of an AGT thread than a Stern show thread, but Robin's tearful reaction to Howard's gift is very touching.

I'm happy for him, 'cause he's a big fan of the show and sounds genuinely excited about it (although, I think - once the reality of the travel and the hours sets in - he's gonna be cranky).

That was a big topic of discussion, this morning. Like me, Howard doesn't like to leave his apartment.

Conclusion: The gig is just so perfect for him, he'll bite the bullet and do a bit of traveling.

I really fear that this will be the final nail in the coffin of the real Howard Stern. He's been on life support for years while the Hamptons Howie doppelganger has been doing fill-ins on his show for the last year and a half.

Don't get me wrong. Still love him, still enjoy the show (I mean, really, what else would I rather listen to all day?). But I'm not excited about this as a Howard fan.

On the other hand, maybe being back out in the public consciousness will revitalize him in the same way that writing a best-selling autobiography and starring in a movie about his own life did. I'm not holding my breath, though.

The real Howard Stern is a soon-to-be 58-year-old, extremely wealthy man, who's been in therapy 3-4 days/wk. for the past decade. This is the real 57-year-old Howard Stern and I like him way more than the old one.

Aren't you saying that you want him to pretend to be the 35-year-old Howard Stern? confuse

I assume Howard will take on the "Simon Cowell" role or what AGT calls Piers Morgan. So he will be honest but brutal. As for liking reality shows-Didn't he ask his listeners to call in for Sanjaya (the no talent singer on AI) just to mess with that show?

As I said, I still like him just fine. But I miss the one who used to goof on Tyra Banks for her fear of dolphins instead of the one who has her on as a serious guest because his new wife is friends with her. Who's next? Starr Jones? And did we ever find out how many jellybeans fit in Rosie's head before they became bff?

He has definitely changed. Sometimes for the better as a human being. But usually for the worse as an entertainer for 5 hours a day, 3 days a week (which is a whole other discussion as far as his value as a modern day provocateur).

And really, I aleays thought Howard would be a master at whatever he put his mind to. But have you seen the disastous photoshpping he did On his own photography for the NSAL calendar? It's laughable. Hopefully he's more serious about AGT for their sake. And hopefully it'll ignite some interest in him in his daily show again. Y him if there's the prospect if some actual measure of fame again and some measure of scrutiny thrown on his 3-times daily show again.

Didn't they bring up the dolphin thing and throw in a few drops during that interview? Can't remember. Anyway, wouldn't you agree that this is a longstanding practice with Howard (ease up on somebody when they appear on the show)? Personally, I feel that even if Tyra weren't friendly with Beth, he would've agreed to have her on and would've treated her the exact same way.

Me, I had a bigger problem with the Lady Gaga fawning. TB acquitted herself decently in-studio, but LG just came in and talked all her bullshit and Howard challenged little-to-none of it. Oh, well - he's human.

And did we ever find out how many jellybeans fit in Rosie's head before they became bff?

I'm pretty sure he said that his attitude towards her changed when she came out. As with a lot of the people he rails against, a large part of his problem with her was her disingenuousness.

He has definitely changed. Sometimes for the better as a human being. But usually for the worse as an entertainer for 5 hours a day, 3 days a week

He's definitely a better human being now. And all I can tell you is that I personally love the show more than ever and almost always find it riveting.

I'm totally with you Ace. I love Howard way better now. Sometimes when they replay the really old shows...I switch it off. I would not have been a fan of his back then.

OMG! I totally LOVED the Lady Gaga interview and performance. She blew me the fuck away.
