Andy is my name and the Vain part comes from when I first joined the org in 2004 and was at my smallest weight ever. Everyone was telling me how good I looked and I would just simply reply..."I know"....

I've been up and down with my weight in the 2000s like Luther and Oprah. When I lost a lot of weight in 2001, I kept it off for years but when it starts coming back, it comes back with a vengenge. In the last few years, if you see me one day, I'll be "normal" size. If you see me a few months later, I'll be big as a house. And if you see me a few months after that, I'll be "normal" size again. But the Vain part of my name has nothing to do with weight or what society considers "looking good". The Vain part comes from my attitude. Whether I'm "normal" size or big as a house, I'm still "alllll that" and I know it and if someone else doesn't think so....well, they can kiss my ass.

I tried other names and they were taken... so I went with paintedlady.

I like it since it plays on the dirtyminded people here... some folks will think "tattooed woman"

others will know that its a name of a butterfly.... either way I am cool with it.

When I was lurking back in 2003 I only set up an account to post in P&R. At the time I was taking yoga classes and shanti means peace, tranquility & bliss.....

So being a peaceful soul I thought Shanti would be a good screen name for me. There was no way that I was going to use my real name on this site back then.

I wanted to be Shanti1 but it was taken so I used my date of birth (US version).

I went through many, many usernames in my first couple of years here, most of them crap, and one was 'fauxnewbie'. Ppl called me 'faux' or 'fauxie' in chat for short and it just seemed to stick, along with the kitten avatar.

It's the same thing over and over again. There are only so many shots of people's faces in flattering angles with corrected lighting that I want to see in a year's time.

I don't even click on them anymore.

I thought it was a cute idea flirting to get some org ass, but

getting some org ass isn't exactly high on my areas of interests these days.

Plus I've lost a great deal of interest in making friends here, not because these people

aren't as special as ever or anything like that, but it just feels sort of like I've seen this show before.

Hell, even my threads are only recycled shit from years ago.

The Scandalous Sex Suite is my favorite slow jam and when I pledged I talked my line sisters into using Prince songs for our line names. So of course I had to be Scandalous, and I certainly was. Everyone on campus knew me as Scandalous and close friends still call me that. Then when I bought my first car I wanted vanity plates and had to condense Scandalous to six letters. I've had SCNDLS on my car since 1993.

Then when I bought another car last year, my Org peeps (Orger in particular ) helped me come up with another Prince-related vanity plate.

I know what you mean, and I was feeling that way myself about the photowhore threads and the org as a whole a few weeks back. I haven't been here as much as I used to for months now, but I was finding myself here barely a couple of times a week just recently. I was then surprised at how much I enjoyed going through and seeing all the pics in the latest photowhore thread and how I felt like getting involved. Started posting a bit more again, but I know it won't last and it'll be a sporadic thing again soon enough. I'm edging away, for the reason you just said (in bold), but sometimes with the newer members here I get a bit more enthusiasm for the ol' place, but I know, it's just the same things we did 3 years ago, or 5, or 8.

The org's no longer essential internet for me, but I'm sensing FB soon won't be either.

I posted pics for my self-esteem also, sensing the 'kind' responses here were about as much kinder than the actual reality of my attractiveness as my own self-image is unkind, so it balances it out. Worked out quite well actually though.
