enough!!
wish someone would create a "social network" where people were forced to actually interact and talk to one another.... IN PERSON.

I'll truly be surprised if that turns out to be a Facebook killer.
I think there eventually IS going to be a site the steals all Facebook's traffic, but I don't think an established company is going to make it. It'll probably be just like Facebook started; some random kids will build a site that will take off like wildfire. I'm happy to be reading about this, enjoy staying on top of technology, but this new service doesn't interest me at all. Seems like just another huge privacy drain. Which makes me wonder how Facebook is doing. I'm checking in less and less over there, and it doesn't seem like I'm the only one. It's a wonder that this site that we're all on now has sustained my interest over all these other social network sites that have come and gone. It's also interesting that the Org has survived all these years with no advertising.

First Chrome, now this.

And I just checked on MySpace, only to find that site is all but completely DEAD. They can't even get anyone to buy it right now, and users have been bailing by the hundreds of millions. They're hardly even able to sell advertising on MySpace now. Rather sad, that site used to be HOT HOT HOT.

You aren't the only one. Though many people use FB for different reasons, I use it to keep up with long distance relatives and old friends...but more than half of the people on my friends list I don't even talk to...just folks I used to know. As of late I've been thinking about just giving my email address to those that I care about and deleting my FB account. I really don't go on there much anyway. I never had a MySpace page back when it was all the rage. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Myspace has been a ghost town for a few years now I deleted my account over a year ago.

As for this new social networking service....I'm gonna stick with Facebook.I'm not one of those people who has to be on multiple networking services.I only need one I don't even use Twitter.

I've been using Chrome for the last 2 weeks. I might even go so far as to say it's superior to IE and Firefox.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I would consider ANYTHING superior to IE. I wouldn't even have it on my computer if it weren't a part of the operating system. I DO like the idea behind how Chrome works, but have just not been crazy about it overall.

The thing about Facebook for me is; it HAS been useful in locating long lost friends. Although some of the friends I've located and said 'hello' to, I quickly said 'goodbye' to again (after quickly realizing why we never kept in touch in the first place, lol). Nevertheless, I keep my account open mainly as a tool to search for people, and to be found by anyone that may be looking for me. Aside from that, I'm just not crazy about splashing pictures online of my every activity, lol. I'm really a very, very private person.
Then the appeal of MySpace for me was; I enjoy web design, and I loved how MySpace allowed you to tweak the HTML/CSS to design your own look. Now I get that same joy from Tumblr.

I deleted my main account at MySpace over a year ago as well. And the year prior to that, watched it as it fell off the face of the Internet. You're right, it's been a ghost town for years now.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
...says the person posting on the org!
I'm kidding. I agree you 100%. Face-to-face is always better.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Opera is better actually. But Firefox still is a main competitor. Chrome? I think I've gave up trying to be on its side. Even Gaga can't get me to be fully with it so I can't be on the edge of that type of glory.

I closed my MySpace account, yearssssss ago. It had to be like 2008.

I closed mine's in 2009.

MySpace began it's decline in 2007. Oddly enough, I had only first signed up shorty before that. I didn't start really using it until mid-2007. I think I really missed it's heyday entirely. Just as I was really getting going with it, people were already jumping ship. But between January & March of this year, more millions of users dropped MySpace than in the previous 2 years combined! That site is truly about to turn to cyber-dust. I think allowing those Mafia Wars type games is what killed it, made the platform too buggy. That, and the rise of Facebook.

Of course everyone has their systems setup differently, and we all have our favorites. But as of May 2011, average browser usage on the web places Opera at the lowest; 2.8%. Safari: 6.9%, Chrome: 16.2%, Firefox: 27.1%. And for some strange reason (probably because it's ships as a part of the Windows operating system) Internet Explorer clocks in at an average usage of 41.7%. I would almost go as far as to guess that probably half of that 40-something percent of IE users probably don't even know there are other browsers out there.
More interesting browser statistics:
And for a more detailed comparison of the browsers themselves:

I'm one of the few people that already has access to Google+
Reason being, I have a cousin that works at Google
So I bugged him for access the moment they announced it, and I got it.
Let me tell you... it's fucking epic. You can't realize how good it is until you use it. I have the app installed on my phone already too. It just works so fluidly and is so intuitive.
I wrote a few first impressions here - http://s-endz.tumblr.com (third post down)
Anyway, I think if any service can kill Facebook, it's this
First impressions across the board are very, very positive. |

I doub't it will take anything out of facebook. I have over 700 photos on FB, I have alot of history on it and I don't want to start over. 2012: The Queen Returns

I feel the same way.I don't wanna "start over".I'm staying at Facebook
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I will certainly be interested in taking a look at it, but doubt I'd be interested in getting involved with it. Particularly if they intend on linking it up with Google Earth, which I'm sure they'll do (...as much as I LOVE Google Earth).

People said the same thing about MySpace. And Friendster, before that...
Anyway, it's not even about "starting over" because it's not exactly the same service.
And if you use Gmail, GTalk, Maps or even YouTube, chances are that you'll be using the service anyway, as there's a layer of integration between all of them. If you have an account on any of those services, that's the same account that is part of this new service. |

Facebook isn't disorganized the way Myspace was. I wanted to leave Myspace, I have no reason to want to join another social network only to find all my friends. again. I'm good with Twitter and Facebook. 2012: The Queen Returns

Relative perception. Facebook IS disorganized compared to Google+.... |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Whatever at those reports. Opera is always the underdog anyway.

Well my perception is that I don't give a fuck about Google+ 2012: The Queen Returns

I'm actually surprised at the love Google gets lol but I can kinda see why especially when they did that Pac Man thing on their page.
