It's easy folks. Just put yourself in her shoes.

I don't understand how people don't understand.

wow! she sure is gorgeous that's for sure. now...I have a dumb question, when she says girl on the inside....does that mean she has girl parts on the inside? or just in her head she knew she was a girl. sorry for my ignorance on the subject.

I'd say the broad nose, wide mouth and long face were a give away, but theres so many female celerities who have masculine features and are considered 'beautiful' by some..so this doesn't shock me

huh? are you looking at the same pictures I am? cause I don't see a broad nose, wide mouth or a long face.

I see the same as Zinzi except the nose. The forehead is broad but not the nose but it could be contouring with makup that makes for a slender looking nose. The hands are quite huge even for a small dude. When I clicked on the thread I was expecting someone more feminine looking but like Zinzi said some people consider these features atrractive so it's a matter of personal taste regarding what you consider beautiful and feminine.

For your other comment, I believe Janet meant feeling like a girl on the inside.

I actually find it troubling that people cannot live in their skin and are compelled to shallow "cosmetic" changes. Changes that are for all intents and purposes just a way of following silly and contemporary standards of femininity/masculinity.

I am not trying to put anyone down, I just find it troubling and feel it's also a borderline mental disorder in the same sense as gambling addition where one turns something into an unhealthy compulsion/obsession.

Being gay is one thing, even natural, but I think something like this is a compulsitory affliction unlike homosexuality.

If she is happy fine, that's what life is all about, but I still find it as troubling as anything us humans can come up with.

It's not easy at all. You can no more put yourself in this person's shoes than you can in the shoes of someone who is suicidal, has down syndrome or feels like they are the reincarnation of someone else. There are some mental, psychological and developmental issues that simply are not relateable but no less worthy of compassion.

Good for her! Count me in as one who has never understood this whole concept though. Isn't she just reinforcing gender/sex stereotypes? Because she identified with "girly" things she felt she needed to have tits and a vagina? Why can't you like girly things and have a dick? It's like Chaz Bono cutting off his tits because he always liked to play with boys toys. I don't quite get this kind of logic.

Well I think what you described there with Chaz is a girl who is a tomboy. I think there is a huge difference. I know it can be a hard concept to understand and I was confused myself at first but I have watched a lot of documentaries and read up a lot about this topic because I really wanted to understand.

In Chaz's case when she was a girl she says she always felt like a boy from a young age but of course didn't know why or couldn't understand it.....so naturally she just gravitated towards her father and wanted to do more boyish things and rebelled against all things feminine..much to her very feminine mother's dismay...but at that time everyone probably just thought she was just a tomboy....then she became a lesbian...but that didn't solve the problem. Because she felt she really was a man....she despised her growing voluptous figure...she wanted a dick and no boobs. She wanted to shave, she wanted to get a hard on. She wanted to be a man.

So same with Janet...she wasn't comfortable just being a feminine boy who would probably be gay...because she felt like a girl and now surgery has made it possible for her to become that girl.

I guess folks can argue if this is really a mental disorder like body dismorphia or something.....but I feel it's no different than people questioning if homosexuals choose to be homosexuals or are born homosexuals...and question if there is a "gay gene".

I don't know.... it's probably easier for me to understand than most even though i'm not a transgendered person and I dont even know any in real life..Even some homosexuals don't understand and are predujiced against transgendered people....but I can identify with people being different and who feel ostracized for something they can't help.

Ok, when you put it that way i agree. It's about compassion rather than judgement.

Great post btw

Because in her mind, Janet was never a man to begin with. She was always a woman.

Also, it's look like she wasn't interested in living her life as a pre-op transwoman at all, but prefer to be a post-op transwoman with designer vagina and all.

Same. There's plenty of women who were born female and have more "masculine" physical traits than she does.

I would never have guessed at all.

Point taken. You're right. Worthy of compassion.
