I agree. I may delete it before tonight's over. I NEVER liked it. My brother convinced me to use it but if I need to communicate with him and other family members, I got Facebook for that.

Why would I wanna go on Skype anyway? It's hard to load up and it eats up memory so I hardly use it. When I had it as part of the Start Menu, it slowed things up on my computer as far as starting it up.

It's a great idea, it just seems the video part of it is useless. My Legacy

In addition, Skype is a great way for professional organizations to conduct interviews and other business over long distances. For instance, some academic associations such as the Modern Language Assoc or the American Philosophical Assoc hold annual conferences which feature "job fairs" of sorts where most of the job interviews for the entire respective profession are conducted. These conferences draw thousands of people, most of whom will travel to the conference by air. Air travel is destroying our planet. Skype is an excellent alternative.

Something to keep in mind if you are in the habit of jetsetting around the country to see Prince (or for any other nonessential reason). I certainly have misgivings about flying to Germany this summer.

Yeah I know that air travel is not the best for our planet, but as I am in a long distance relationship I cannot avoid it. I agree. Plus we still call on the phone lol

Exactly. Skype is also useful for international calls, which is THE only thing that some people cannot do on my cellphone in the USA.

Oh really? Well, too bad!
I'm a proud Linux user and I make absolutely no apologies for calling the Microsoft Corporation for what they have become from a business standpoint: a freaking plantation! And quite frankly, I've been fed up with way Microsoft overprice their softwares (especially Vista) without even bother to make sure it's stable. And if William Gates & Microsoft thinks that some people are going to remain loyal slaves.......oops, I mean loyal customers because they think there are no proper alternatives to Microsoft Windows then they are sadly mistaken.
Some of the Linux distros (especially Ubuntu & Linux Mint) are more user-friendly then ever. As long as more people are willing to educate themselves about Linux, they can also turn their backs on Windows as well. Just wait and see.
As for Skype, Microsoft only wanted to buy that company out just so they can create their own commercial Skype-clone and then the real Skype will no longer exist. The whole process is nothing but a war on freewares, plain and simple.

i've never experienced it slowing down my pc maybe you have too little memory installed you can stop any program from running when your pc is booting by typing msconfig in the search command line . then click on 'startup' and uncheck the box behind it
i use skype for international calls and i think it's great

Deniers of climate change are on a par with deniers of evolution (i.e. creationists).
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
climate change seems to be true, it is the man made part that is the hoax. And there is NOTHING at all contradictory with evolution as we know it and some form of creationism. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

There is almost universal agreement in the scientific community that the climate change that is now upon us and whose effects (hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, extinction of species, and so on) we now face is human made.
Two things don't need to be contradictory for one of them to be false.

This site sure knows how to venture off topic.
Anyways some folks think the move was a good one.
I think there was talk earlier this year that Skype and Microsoft were in deals to have Microsoft own it. Reminds me of when MySpace bought IMEEM lol

If Microsoft don't suddenly go into "you gotta pay to update your service", then it won't. However, I read somewhere that when you do VIDEOS, you may get ads on the right of the Skype box (like Yahoo).

You must have a really good computer. I think it freezes on XP (Luckily the few times I did video chats, it didn't freeze but it was slow a little bit) sometimes IDK.

google 'climate change hoax' and you'll find thousands of hits there's many scientists that despute the manmade climate change theory the earth's temperature has been rising throughout the centuries to assume the latests century's climate change is manmade is naive and pompous
there's tons of money made with those lies too 'climate change' sells but it appears so many of you are willing to believe anything that's forced down your throats despite evidence that desputes all that crap they're feeding you
there's really no comparison whatsoever with the creatonalist theory anyone who believes an imaginitive superior being created mankind like how it's been described in the bible is mentally challenged
