Skype has always looked terrible to me.

You might as well be looking at a still picture of the person you're talking to.

I've never had a problem with it freezing on me.

I admit I've never actually done it, but I see it a lot on TV where some news show will have someone via Skype and the picture is not smoooth video, but more like crappy web-cam snapshots taken at the least flattering moment possible

But it's not freezing up, it's more choppy. Probably depends on your connection speed.

Also I looked into it once, and it did not seem to be free. It looked like there was a monthly charge. Am I wrong about that?

the sofware itself is free and calling to other skype users on skype is too

however you need to pay to be able to to call landlines and cellphones

a call from here (the netherlands) to a cellphone in the US is only 2 eurocents a minute cool

(about $0.03)

there was a glich in gmail calling which enabled me to call to the US last year for free but unfortunately they fixed it mad lol

What is your opinion of skype vs. gmail video chat for international calls?

This site sure knows how to venture off topic. lol

Anyways some folks think the move was a good one.

I think there was talk earlier this year that Skype and Microsoft were in deals to have Microsoft own it. Reminds me of when MySpace bought IMEEM lol

I loved IMEEM the interface was so user friendly...MySpace what's that... lol
