Was Lady Gaga busy??

Even before Gaga (which I definitely would put there over Xtina), Liz. She frequented The Abbey and they have her portrait up, even.

Isn't Liz dead?

This is why I said it might be hard getting her to put her footprints in the walk. fishslap

I would just think that since they were so impacted at that place when she passed (folk were leaving flowers...r portrait) they might kick it off with paying her homage.

Actually, if it's just gay icons, regardless of their sexual orientation that get to have their prints on the walk of fame, Mark Walburg should be at the top of that list.

In any case, Liz was my first thought because of having read that article, but if they're honoring the living only, Xtina would not have been my first choice. Especially so soon after losing Liz, a legend and friend of gays and the Abbey.

Xtina is clearly Xtina's fir$t choice tho. lol

To name a few...

Living

RuPaul

Harvey Fierstein

Ellen Degeneres

Madonna

Lady Gaga

Lance Bass

Dead

Harvey Milk

Sylvester

Divine

Barney Frank

I would think that any of the above are more deserving of first inductee status than Aquilera. Or is this walk of fame just for the pretty young things who dress nice? lol

Definitely. Unless this is just for folk in the entertainment biz.

Unfortunately, the first thing that pops into people's heads is entertainers. I'm guilty of that also. Somebody more important that has actually changed things for the better should be inducted first and then get around to the entertainers later.

I think the Stonewall club should get a star of it's own also. I was at a party full of gay men a few years and we were all sitting around talking and only me and two other guys even knew what the hell Stonewall was. The other two guys were from Chicago and none of the Mississippi guys had ever heard of Stonewall. I thought it was damn rediculous.

I was only half serious about the mention of Gaga, but I don't know if I can put my hat in for Xtina. Even if I strip away all my prejudice over that hot mess Bionic, I would say Madonna deserves this star first and foremost - even moreso than Liz.

To me, Madonna embodies what it means to be accepting of all things human.

can't they do posthumus or whutever they call it?

God, I certainly hope so! And assuming they can and will, there's no way in hell I'd have given this to any living act before I gave it to, say, Liz, Marlene Deitrich, Cole Porter, Freddy Mercury, Sylvester, Liberace, Noel Coward, Moms Mabley, Rainer Fassbinder, Sir Lawrence Olivier, Andy Warhol... I could go on forever!

And then Aguilera has the NERVE to show up to this thing in friggin' lingerie and sings our praises in the press around not surviving and thriving in today's sociopolitical climate, but... giving good bedroom advice. confused Yeah, way to honor us! thumbs up!

.......Little Richard (although he's bi), Big Mama Thorton, Boy George, Pete Burns, and even George Michael deserves to be there ahead of Christina.

This makes it sound like being a gay icon is something you'd carbon date to check accuracy on. lol

There were icons even before Judy. Marlene Dietric, Mae West...gay community was just not as out and vocal in mainstream during those times.

Damn, I'm so glad we advanced further than that. When I saw gay people into folks like that which were considered "nerdy" and "dorky", that's the reason I stayed in the closet for so many years. Thank God, the disco era came along and changed things! And I really like gay icons like Judas Priest who look like they would stomp a mudhole in somebody's ass if they messed with them. I tell ya, I'm just a mean ole bitch to the very end. lol

Why are Judy and Babs so beloved by gay men & women (moreso men) anyway? Is it because they're kind of ugly and easy to imitate via drag?

I mean what did these chicks ever do that would stand out for the gays? They were both singers and actresses and that's about it. Judy was a life long drunk or something.

Shit, might as well put Elizabeth Berkeley up there cuz she made out with a chick in Showgirls and she's pretty and very tall. shrug
