These are some of the dumbest folks I've ever heard of in this type of situation. That said, this is a perfect example of why the Child Support Laws of the U.S. are in desperate need of an upgrade.

The laws are NOT in need of an upgrade... it happens like this,

if you have a child and are a NON-custodial parent, then keep up on your child support.

If you don't the state will go after any income you have access to. This means any income that is included in your household.

This means, if someone is dumb enough to marry your dead-beat ass then their income becomes included in said dead-beat's income as well. So the state is able to recover back-owed support from the spouse and health insurance for the child can be mandated by the spouse. Even if this spouse is not related to the child biologically.

The tax payers should not be held responsible for taking care of a child that some dead beat refuses to support.

Don't like it? Then don't fucking marry someone who has kids and put your dumb ass in that position in the first place.

You can inherit someone's bad credit when you marry them, you can also be accountable for all their debts as well, including child support. Be careful of who you marry, make sure a person is responsible parent and pays their support like they are supposed to do!

I don't necessarily disagree with you. But none of that applies in the case cited above.

Let me add this little food for thought...

by the time courts are involved, support is forced from the non-custidial parent. Not given.

Most non-custodial parents do NOT want to support their own kids, and that is fucked up.

So yeah I am all for some dead-beat man or woman (that is selfish enough to not raise and not give a fuck about their own kids) getTING sued and even going to jail. They expect people to just live off goverment support and have tax payers put up with a responsibility that these fuckers don't want to take care of.

Why the hell does the state have to strong arm a person into paying support in the first place? Why the fuck should any parent be taken to court? Any decent human being should be running to help their own child succeed. Any decent human being should work two, three and four fucking jobs happily to make sure the needs of their child/chidren is met, ESPECIALLY if they are not even raising the child and only see them every other weekend.

People need to stop crying broke and just put their children first. Selfish fuckers.

That story makes no sense as to why he didn't just order a modifiaction on the support. People do that all the time. I'm shaking my head at that entire story.

He is partly to blame if he says the judge saw the imbalance and yet didn't contest the order or at least try to modify it. Not paying it at all and going into arrears is just plain dumb.

seriously though.....when it comes to child support; the name on the bank slip trumps who actually made the deposit. ya dig? so as disgusting as it is to pass one man's child off on another, this man is indeed the father because he put his name on the birth certificate and was married to the mother and raised the kids with her. It matters not that she cheated and conceived her baby with another man; she was still married to this dude and he was raising the child as his own. the most grieved parties in this case are the children. they are living with a man who possibly doesn't give a shit about their welfare and there is a father figure (bio dad to the one child) who is whining about paying another man to raise his kid when he should be fighting for custody of both. this is why adoptive parents are so amazing...they don't give a shit where the kid came from...they enjoy being a parent.

How confused is this child that got used to calling a man daddy... mom and daddy have a falling out and all the sudden, daddy isn't daddy anymore.

^ people don't think about the children and that's why the courts have to step in. If this man actually gave a damn about the children he sired/raised versus where his support payments were going then he probably wouldn't be in this mess. Just because you lose a spouse doesn't mean you should lose your children...or in his case possibly give them up.

My cousin had to do that back in the 1980s. The dumbass adopted his wife's daughter from a previous marriage and when they got divorced, he had to pay child support on her.
