X-Men: First Class (Official Trailer)

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, this movie charts the epic beginning of the X-Men.

It worries me that everyone here will be young and beautiful. One of the victories of the first few X films was the motleyness of the teams.

I see Professor X, Magneto, Emma Frost, Cyclops, Beast, I think Nightcrawler. How many mutants are in this? Main characters?

This "prequel" makes no sense

Magneto and Xavier were teens during WWII. And Magneto didn't start to destroy stuff until he was a +55 years old bitter man. Which also makes me think that this is not a prequel, but a reboot...

I also dislike the bland photography, the ludicrous soundtrack and the cute faces...

this will be just as bad as Wolverine_Origins...

My question is: why are Mystique, a hairy Beast and members of the Hellfire Club being introduced in the 1960s??? confused

So the X-Men were there for the Cuban missile crisis? Weird, but if they make a good movie out of it, that's good enough for me. Plus: That cast is an amazing lineup. There's a huge amount of talent in this movie.

I wasn't aware there was a boycott planned to protest how poorly the First Class story is being adapted. lol I've got issues with it as well, but I'm not convinced of the approach, nor am I particularly passionate about this either way. Should be interesting to see how this all turns out.

There's no Cyclops in this, but his brother Havok appears. I think he shows up in the trailer around 1:20 emitting energy from his midsection or hands (somewhat disappointing to me, because if he has to be in this movie I was hoping they'd play up the concentric ring motif of his powers). And I don't think that's Nightcrawler, but his dad in the books, Azazel.

One of the big complaints by X geeks is that this movie is gonna have way too many mutants (and ones that should show up much later) for a story that supposedly occurs so early in the X Men arc.

A young Magneto working with the X-Men? Where are Angel, Cyclops and Marvel Girl? Emma Frost encounters the team in the 1960s? How can that be? Lame. confused

The only X Men who should show up at this point are Beast, Marvel Girl (Jean), Angel, Cyclops, Iceman and Prof X. The movie has completely turned that on its ear, but I still don't think we'll see Storm here.

I've seen some pics of Hugh Jackman shooting the new Wolverine movie and he's looking hot.

But sorry, Nursev--that no-talent hack Halle needs to stay far, far away from X-Men. nod

I hate to say it, 'cause Halle is a homegirl, but I agree with you. I hope we NEVER have to see Halle as Storm again.

Truth be told, Hugh is way too tall to play Wolverine. But that's Hollywood.

That bugged me at first. But I think he's done really well at owning that role. It'd be tough to see another Wolverine at this point.

I hear at one point in an earlier development attempt, Glenn Danzig (5'4") was being considered. shake I'd rather see Wolverine played by Halle Berry than that little gnome.

A cast update already? Why not re-make Inception, cast a fetus as Dom?
