honestly.......

It's irrespective, thank you. lol

- ir and -less are two negatives elements, no? Irregardless, is a non-word.

I think you didn´t catch the irony in my example.... lol

I know that it is a non-word and that it should be "regardless". However, a lot of people say "irregardless" and that´s why I mentioned it.

Yes. I did. biggrin

When people use this non-word irregardless, it's the exact opposite of what it is used to express. Irrespective, despite of, regardless of, discounting, notwithstanding are all correct. Even so, regardless is an over used word hence, it needs to be retired. lol

nod That's not even proper English.

Another phrase I hate is "went missing". I know that it probably is proper English, but to me, it just doesn't sound right. How does someone "go missing"? Isn't it better to say that they "disappeared"? I'll never understand it. confused

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Sorry, I just had to...I know you´re right , but still.....this is the first thing that came to my mind when I read your post. lol

And yes, "Get my hair did." sounds terribly wrong. What´s up with constantly using the simple past form in present perfect or past perfect sentences these days?

Your point? lol

I'm joking. All cultures have a second rail . . . use slang that's counterculture to their respective "King's language". Some of those words and phrases we used today were considered slang a century ago. However, "get my hair did" will never get the "go light' as being accepted as proper English. biggrin

No point to be made here, just stating my honest opinion. smile In my opinion, "Went missing" will never be accepted as proper English, but I know that a lot of people which probably disagree with me, which is fine. Words or phrases that annoy someone may not annoy someone else. A lot of the words that have been mentioned on this thread don't bother me in the least. But I have to agree that, "Get my hair did" will never be accepted as proper English. It just sounds kind of ghetto. smile Whoops, sorry, Dancerella, I just used a word that you don't like. lol Not on purpose, of course.

Can't they? Plenty of shows say ass. Maybe some shows want to be less crude, butt it's the same thing, right? smile

I think they are trying to be cute, butt it's so un-clever at this point

Yeah I stop using that one. I sounded real stupid saying it. Ugh... I don't think Larry the Cable Guy is even that relevant anymore.
