Okay, Lloyd the Chemist in Boomerang is an actor named Leonard Jackson and (Hershe's right) he was Pa in Color Purple. Now, I gotta wait til Hoodlum comes on again to figure out who the ice cream store dude is cuz I won't be able to rest til I do. pissed

[Edited 12/17/10 9:49am]

eek It's two different actors???? Okay from "Malcolm X"..the character that I'm speaking of was called "Baines" and the actor who played him was "Albert Hall". doh! Shucks well smack me silly, I guess I stand corrected Hershe...but doggone it to me they look similar. My mistake.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

He also played Odell, Easy Rawlins' mild-mannered religious friend from Devil In The Blue Dress.

He & Joe Morton are masters when it comes to leaving lasting impressions, despite their constant short roles.

lol Wasn't that the same dude who was in the movie "Malcolm X" saying "Why do you put that poison in your hair trying to be white???? LET IT BURN!!!!" and then Denzel says to him "n*g*a GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF ME!!!" lol If my memory serves me correctly I believe it was.

nod Yeah, he's a character actor who's been in a lot of black films. You know his face but not his name. I just saw him the other day in Hoodlum. He was the dude that owned the ice cream shop and usually made Bumpy's "split" I LOVE that movie.

It's funny that Laurence Fishburne played Bumpy Johnson in two different movies almost 20 years apart. He was also Bumpy in Coppola's Cotton Club. They shoulda just had him play Bumpy in American Gangster to call it a trifecta. Instead they had Prince's Daddy, who was also in Hoodlum with Larry. Ol' Larry been around forever, he should have his own Six Degrees of Separation game. nod

I love that movie! Well, I loves me some Don Cheadle. I think he is just so talented. I like him better than Denzel. He was brilliant in TALK to Me!

William Clarence THEE 3rd is Hollywood's best kept secret. To me, he's the heir to Roscoe Lee Browne's legacy. A character's actor to the highest order and has a hypnotic quality that suck you in without so much of a word whenever he's on the screen. A talent can be developed but that shit is a GIFT.

He stopped me on my tracks in 'Ritual' with Denise Nicholas. Boy, what a mess of a movie disbelief everybody acted their asses off though, esp him & Denise.

Now, this the dude that was the mean judge on Ally McBeal lol

He also was the crooked cop, Swoop, on the take in my favorite made for tv movie of all time, The Sophisticated Gents. That movie had an all star black cast:

Rosalind Cash

Paul Winfield

Janet Dubois

Raymond St. Jaques

Alfree Woodard

Dick Anthony Wiiliams

Deniece Nicholas

Ron O'Neal

Melvin Van Peebles - Who adapted the book written by John L. Williams to TV

They need to get this movie on DVD pronto!

I'm on pins & needles until it gets remastered to DVD. Loved it since I watched it in BET 5 years ago.

"Ohhhh I see you two are getting along wonderfully"!!!!

While the entire film is absolutely genius, I think my many of favorite lines come during the Sexual Chocolate bit.

Particularly - "Now you all remember him as Joe the Policeman from the What's Going Down episode of That's My Mama". Kills me.

nod You're right, he definitely commands the screen in any time he appears. Nobody plays cracky/crazy with such panache. Member Sugar Hill? Man, I LOVED him in Deep Cover. It seem him and Larry have an affinity for working together.
