When I was a wee kid I read Virginia Andrews' first series of books called Flowers in the Attic, a book on family secrets that go horribly, horribly wrong.

TOTAL trash, but I gobbled that shit up, all the books in that particular series. It was the only series she finished and she started another one before she passed away, but that was just a weaker version of The Dollanganger Series.

I still wish they would make a PROPER series out of it, trashy, but with good actors. But who'd touch an incest story? Not many.

I used to read all the Virginia Andrews books, but once she died, and they became V.C.Andrews they were soooo predicticable...
formulated drivel!!!

i loved the prequel, written from the nasty grandmothers side of things...put the whole series into a new light

Anyways. I left most my trash reading behind me, to be honest. I just turned around and looked at my books and it's all GOOD books now.

My mom's disappeared into a shredder way back already. And actually I am anti-hoarding lately (I am one too, but I am sooooo tired of the dead space, I just selected all the books I decided I will never read again and they have to GO.

That's just plain silly. I had a lot of books just for the fun of it, but if I am going to make a harsh decision on which I will read again... half of them are going.

My wife has tons of trashy romance novels everywhere, boxes of them. I love to tease her about the titles - the funniest one in recent memory: 'Lady Pirate' lol

So did I.

Well, not in that I know who in the hell those bands are, but I totally thought prb was telling us about her thrash metal obsession.

I loved the VC Andrews stuff. love

I don't have guilty pleasures anymore. The closest thing was the Harry Potter books.

Most my guilty pleasures turn into big hits. I liked Potter before the hype. I liked green trousers before the hype.

Young adult fiction is still fun to me, though, esp if it has a fantasy element to it.

My favest series of late is Naomi Novik's Temeraire series, which is an alternate timeline series on the Napoleonic Wars, in which Europe battles it out with dragons.
It's so popular that Peter Jackson already bought the film right to it.

Best covers come with the UK prints; which are shockingly beautiful.
