It is out of the respect and appreciation of the animal to do this rather than just discard of these parts.

HAHAHA!

Let's all pay respect to our dead family members and friends by wearing bits of their stuffed body as jewelry instead of discarding their body.

I think the bat skull is the cherry on top really. My first choice would be silver obviously, but the black and gold combo works for me in this case. Just have someone sculpt a fake one and I'm good.

You're so dark and morbid.

12 years of Catholic school did this to me. I also like nunsploitation movies.

I don't think it's quite the same, but in Victorian times, jewelry made from a (usually deceased) loved one's hair was very popular.

And don't forget about relics! The Catholics love them some body parts from their dead Saints. lol
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I actually just got a blue and green feather hair comb much like the one above for X-mas. It's not like a whole wing of one bird though, it's most likely peacock feathers and dyed feathers put together and glued on. If that makes any difference at all. I just wore it on Sunday in fact. nod

I'd take those cufflinks too though. smile

No, but I wear leather, so provided those animals weren't killed with the the sole intent of being worn, I'd probably be a hypocrite to say it's wrong. shrug

This is exactly my feeling as well. We really don't know where many of these animals came from or how they died, and how their bodies were obtained. shrug

There's this great store in S.F. called Paxton Gate that I call the "Store of Death". It's all weird taxidermy stuff, skeletons, insects in glass, fossils, carnivorous plants, etc. Great great great!

One woman had a collection of mink skeletons that were dressed up in Victorian garb and set up in families and different situations on display. lol She said she got the bodies from mink farms since they would just throw that part away anyway. At least the bodies were put to as much use as possible then. There was also a mouse wedding cake topper. lol

Like this?

This is Queen Magdalene, a genuine Vintage Ermine that has been professionally mounted. She is wearing her best gown in hopes of finding her king. She is crowned in the finest jewels and is wearing a ring on her right paw. She is in a glass walled fortress that is vintage and restored. Her garden is full of beautiful roses, genuine insects and little birds.

This store is also located in SF.
