This thread has reminded me!

Anx, why is LASSO (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) regression so preferable to other regression selection techniques? I mean, subset selection, garotte regression and stagewise always seemed fine before! What do you make of the use of the L1 norm instead of the traditional L2 norm penalty?

you know what, i was just orgnoting with zelaira about this last week. i was all, "the L1-regularized formulation is useful in some contexts due to its tendency to prefer solutions with fewer nonzero parameter values, effectively reducing the number of variables upon which the given solution is dependent, duh" and then we talked about V8 Fusion juice and trampoline vampire sex.

Oh my god, I swear, I must have a sign on my forehead that says ALL-KNOWING ORACLE.

This week, people keep coming up to me and asking crazy shit that I couldn't possibly know the answers to. And it's not like I'm polite when I tell them I don't know what the hell they're talking about. I do my best to discourage people from approaching me with unnecessary questions, but they just keep coming back.

Today, some total STRANGER came up to me on the train and asked me what some random street sign meant. I had no freakin idea. "Oh, I was just curious and I thought you might know." What, am I dressed like a conductor today? LEAVE ME ALONE!!! mad

Maybe I look too knowledgeable. It's not like I don't try really hard to look as stupid as humanly possible, believe me. Maybe I need a scary face tattoo so I'll look less approachable. I don't know what it is, but it's happening way too much this week and it's making me nuts.

Does this happen to you???

aww... hug
sun 'why y'all trying to say goodbye? I didn't go anywhere, I'm right here, im all around you,always..' sun

in a line from my dream, I heard a voice and saw a silhouette in a chair..

He has little arms and little legs, and he can walk and talk like a person, but he's an egg, a little egg. Do you understand now?

Well, I'm the school negro (there's only three of us in the senior class. We're a scarce commodity). So I always get the dumb black questions from all the white girls.
Because you know, all black people are like the borg, we all think the same thing.
