Why is it considered shallow if some men prefer women who are in shape? People like what they like, that's all.

I don't see what the issue is? I'd glady date a guy who was a few inches shorter than me shrug

That's a shame that people would actually say something so silly, but bottom line is either people like each other or not, and you're better off without someone who cares about something like that.

If it's the right person, your height won't matter at all

yup. they're rare, though. i've met exactly one guy who truly didn't mind at all, my first real boyfriend- he would encourage me to wear heels that made me taller than him lol

Well youre better off without him if he doesn't like plump girls. I've seen plenty of plump girls with partners, loads. In fact I hardly see skinny women anymore, believe it or not. I know they are in the magazines and on T.V but in real life, the majority of women are not skinny, and lots of these women have got men and kids to boot.

Exactly.

Dude, it's not shallow at all.

I think the whole concept of shallowness was just invented by people who were rejected and never got over it.

Having a preference isn't shallow, saying that is the only thing you would ever date is. It precludes everyone else based on one trait when in reality we all have preference and the preference we look for is only part of the picture.

No, it's not.. if a person is comfortable with specific preferences and that's what turns them on... there's nothing wrong with it..

Ya, I agree. That doesn't make you shallow at all.

I don't even think shallowness really exists.

I'm trying to think of what I think would make someone shallow.... hmmm

I agree.. when it comes to preferences, there's no shallowness... I think if a person discredits maybe what others like then that would make them messed up ... if a person likes lobster, why are you gonna get mad at them cause they only want lobster? (I don't mean you)

Using your analogy then when your child says "i only want candy, i only like candy, i wont eat anything else" you will let them....because it is ok?

No one said someone COULDNT say that or indeed that people DONT have the choice to have a preference.

The only thing that has been said is that it is shallow to judge a person merely by a preference that we may have. What that does is never opens one to new things, changes, different experience or in fact the idea that something different may turn out to be better or something we like more than our original preference.

If you want to be closed off, fine, that is your choice, if you wish to only stick with your preference then that is fine. For me, i find that shallow and closed.

Once again, I am saying it's shallow for men, who do like women like that, but society has put such a stigma on things like this, that they pass up a chance of meeting a nice person, to conform to what others think is right.

I agree, everyone likes what they like, I never said that I didn't.

Hell no, they can do what the fuck they want. It is no skin off my nose what the hell they do. I feel one way, others feel different. My opinion is that course of action is a shallow one for many reasons. As i have stated i don't detract from anyone's personal right to do so, just as they can't detract from my personal right to say i think it is shallow.

Because there are those out there that feel uncomfortable and uneasy with strong-minded people who don't deviate from their beliefs and preferences.

That's how I see it. I don't see it as being anything but having a preference in what they are attracted to and if you end up missing out on someone or an experience from someone you're not attracted to....well, who cares because you're not attracted to them. So really, you may be missing out on something but it's not something you would want to be involved in in the first place. lol

No that is not what i said. Let me make it real simple for you as you don't appear to be able to grasp it any other way.

This is how i feel.

If a person states that they only ever date a person who is (insert colour, religion, hair colour, weight,or any other variable here) then they are demonstrating a prejudice or ism against anyone without said variable.

At no point have i said they can't or shouldn't do that or removed their ability to do so, i have simply stated that such ones demonstrate a closed attitude.

The problem here is that in some way you CARE if people don't like your choice.
